The last two shows made their goals. Let's give it up for Irwin & Bethany! Support for Joe Frank, too!

Yo, common!
Avatar Wed. 3/18/15 3:04pm glenn:

why wouldn't it be? most of the irish here are orange protestants, so it's probably pretty apt.

Hiya, Irwin, and all Irwinians.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 3/18/15 3:07pm Ike:

Hello Sem, Glenn, KFHP, Claw!, Irwin et al. Hey @Claw!, clawed anything interesting lately? Clawed any curtains? Any major world domination plots foiled lately?
  Wed. 3/18/15 3:08pm Robert:

Not only did the last 2 shows on WFMU make goal, but if you took the excess over goal that Duane brought down & added it to the Nazario Scenario on that stream, that'd make goal too.
Swag For Life Member    Wed. 3/18/15 3:09pm Ralphine:

Is this from The Crazy World of Lizzy Mercier Descloux?

This weirdo version of "Fire" sums up why I gave to FMU before the Marathon even started. What other station would play this in a million years?
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 3/18/15 3:11pm Ike:

Uh oh. Somebody's onto me. I'd better get some bread gloves and a bread mask and a bread exoskeleton to protect myself from all the clawing.
  Wed. 3/18/15 3:12pm Robert:

I've been wondering about external effects on the fundraising here. Now that the election's over in Israel, does that mean Nachum's going to rake in more, or less? Did SXSW's concurrence with the Marathon hurt?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 3/18/15 3:12pm Uncle Michael:

Omaha expat in the house, Bethany.

Hello, Irwin; et al.

If last week's celebration of 40 years was accurate, then this week would be 40 years and a week.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 3/18/15 3:18pm Ike:

Bethany is a real queen of FMU fundraising. Why? I don't know. Is it the upbeat tone? The persuasive sunniness? Is she especially good at draining loads of cash from all the lonely single hippies in basements, like an avant-Frangry? I don't know.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 3/18/15 3:20pm Ike:

BUT SHE'S GREAT! That's what I *do* know.

Wait, did Irwin just threaten to beat Bethany with a heavy tome if she doesn't raise enough cash? Somebody call his archnemeses, the PC police!
Avatar Wed. 3/18/15 3:20pm V Priceless:

Hey Irwin and gangsters!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 3/18/15 3:21pm rrg:

I'm with Irwin. I'm not getting his premium this year.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 3/18/15 3:22pm Caryn:

Irwin's giving the t-shirts as a premium so that he doesn't have to wear them himself. Makes perfect sense.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 3/18/15 3:22pm rrg:

I passed on the Amanda CDs too, but, that was a different thing. T-shirts. Bah.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 3/18/15 3:23pm Gaylord Fields:

In another uncanny parallel I have with Irwin, I also don't wear WFMU T-shirts — or, for that matter, any T-shirts with graphics or lettering or anything on it, for pretty much the same reasons he gives.
  Wed. 3/18/15 3:24pm Cooh John:

Hello Irwin, Bethany, and chosen Chusids. Sem C, nice to see you in the afternoon. tony seymour, loved "Not Unlike a Rolling Stone" last week.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 3/18/15 3:24pm Caryn:

At least on Irwin's shirt, the fine print is on the stomach, not the boob area, so you don't have to stare at women's chests, you can now stare at their midsection. Not that this will get a much better response, especially if you follow the staring with a "so, when's the baby due?"
Avatar    Wed. 3/18/15 3:24pm Irwin:

WOT GAYLAWD SED!
Avatar    Wed. 3/18/15 3:24pm βrian:

I only wear T-shirts if they have a breast pocket. Gotta, gotta, gotta have a breast pocket.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 3/18/15 3:25pm Uncle Michael:

I wear a shirt that says "Hey, my boobs are right here."
Avatar    Wed. 3/18/15 3:25pm Claw!:

Hey, V!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 3/18/15 3:26pm rrg:

Stop it. Stop staring.
  Wed. 3/18/15 3:26pm Robert:

I don't go for advertisement shirts either. However, a couple weeks ago the possibility of flags was raised by another commenter. Would those of you who don't go for shirts go for fabric dedicated to gawking at, i.e. flags? I was in charge of getting flags made up for an Odinist church recently, though they're not big sellers, at least not yet.
Avatar    Wed. 3/18/15 3:27pm βrian:

An onanist church, maybe.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 3/18/15 3:28pm Gaylord Fields:

Irwin is my brutha from anutha mutha (who instilled in each of us the importance of unorthodox spellings).
Avatar    Wed. 3/18/15 3:28pm Sem Chumbo:

Big hand for @ βrian's suggestion.
  Wed. 3/18/15 3:29pm Robert:

I like that one, Brian! I find most shirts that say things wind up getting worn as presents by people whom I then ask about what's on them & they have no cx to it & sometimes don't even know what it stands for.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 3/18/15 3:31pm Caryn:

To be fair, Gaylord, you don't wear t-shirts with slogans, because I don't think you wear t-shirts, period. A nice collared shirt and possibly a sweater vest, that's how you roll.
Avatar    Wed. 3/18/15 3:31pm bbell:

Thank you, Irwin, for 40 years of hipness, peering into the cut out bins, thrift shop milk crates and sharing the sounds! Sending money in through the interwebs presently!

Ima fan of bard hop.
Wed. 3/18/15 3:32pm Listening Out There:

Actually, I'm a fan of Bethany. We want Stochastic Hit Parade...
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 3/18/15 3:32pm Ike:

I love to advertise WFMU by wearing its shirts. It's an easy way to proselytize. Nothing else, just FMU. And unlike Gaylord, I don't mind if folks stare at my zonkers.
  Wed. 3/18/15 3:33pm ?:

DTS has a face for radio! SNAP!

I wear FMU shirts just so people will look at my boobs. They wouldn't notice em otherwise. Thanks, FMU!
Avatar    Wed. 3/18/15 3:34pm βrian:

I give you extra credit for the badinage, Irwin.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 3/18/15 3:34pm rrg:

Hey, I pledged pre-show. Don't I get to be in the running for the book too?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 3/18/15 3:34pm Gaylord Fields:

@Caryn: There are rare T-shirt occasions (I am mostly human, after all), but, yes, collared shirts are how I roll pretty much 24/7.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 3/18/15 3:35pm Caryn:

@Gaylord: And you cut a very fine figure in those collared shirts, if I may say so.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 3/18/15 3:36pm Gaylord Fields:

@Ike: You misunderstand. I don't want logos to get in the way of people staring at my bodacious tatas.
  Wed. 3/18/15 3:37pm Robert:

I do wear ad caps, though, but only because those are the only caps I have. Ken this morning was bestowed a promotional cap by a guest named Lobo on JM in the AM.

My t-shirt says "Sofa King"
  Wed. 3/18/15 3:40pm Robert:

Caryn, I don't even know if that Lobo was spelled that way! I gathered from the program that it has an extra meaning when transliterated into Hebrew.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 3/18/15 3:40pm Caryn:

@Gaylord: okay... And those sweater vests, hubba hubba!
  Wed. 3/18/15 3:41pm Robert:

Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 3/18/15 3:43pm Uncle Michael:

Irwin, you get a t-shirt.
  Wed. 3/18/15 3:43pm Robert:

I read about the Sofa King on Reason's Hit & Run blog. The ads on their trucks, saying their prices were Sofa King low, were censored by the authorities in England.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 3/18/15 3:46pm Kat in Chicago:

I enjoy my WFMU T-shirt collection and I'm adding Irwin's to it! Great graphics.
  Wed. 3/18/15 3:48pm Robert:

Now that's more like it. Before the show started I tried to figure what Irwin's goal would be, and I guessed $8,000, although I figured some chicken we won't name might set it as low as $6,000.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 3/18/15 3:48pm Gaylord Fields:

@Ike @Caryn: Okay, but now you gotta make it rain. And you both know where and how.
