Hello there, Bob, nice to see you.
And hello, Uncle Michael, you rascal you ;)

Non Uncle Michael. But still happy to be here.
Avatar Thu. 1/1/15 12:05pm Charlie:

You, Michael, are Michael; "Type your name here" is Uncle Michael. (I was typing as you were typing.)

Hello UM!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 1/1/15 12:08pm Michael:

Me too with the typing. It's our cross to bear having the name Michael. UM might agree.

Yo La played at the somewhat contrived First Night festivities in Boston last night. Wonder how the show was in one of the Convention Center rooms.
Avatar Thu. 1/1/15 12:11pm Charlie:

Interesting venue. I'm sure they warmed up the space considerably, regardless.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 1/1/15 12:11pm Uncle Michael:

"Michael" was the most popular boys name in the U.S. for decades for good reason.
Avatar Thu. 1/1/15 12:16pm Charlie:

OK, I'll bite -- what was the reason?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 1/1/15 12:20pm Uncle Michael:

It's the best name.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 1/1/15 12:24pm Uncle Michael:

Happy New Year, Charlie and everybody. Michael-Sluggo, we don't have First Night in New York any more. We eliminated it permanently after 9/11. Because we're showing the terrorists they didn't get to us, y'understand.
Avatar Thu. 1/1/15 12:33pm Charlie:

Hi Pseu! Happy New Day to you too!
Hi Parq also.
Avatar Thu. 1/1/15 12:37pm Charlie:

Holy crap, I hope this soft rock song doesn't scare everyone the hell away...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 1/1/15 12:40pm Uncle Michael:

This is just exactly right for our house, right now.
  Thu. 1/1/15 12:40pm Santos L Halper:

No way Charlie! Haven't heard in forever but sounds nice. Happy happy and rabbit rabbit rabbit to all!
  Thu. 1/1/15 12:41pm Bill W:

It's going to be a Fogelberg year. HNY!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 1/1/15 12:41pm Michael:

Tunes are kinda perfect for today. Parq: Boston First Night has changed over the years and become almost too "family friendly". When I first moved there, it had more of an artistic focus with performance artists and the like. Krzysztof Wodiczko had a wonderful projection on the obelisk in the Common. Now lots of sit down things that seem somewhat safer.
Avatar Thu. 1/1/15 12:45pm Charlie:

Hi Bill -- Happy Fogel Year to you!
Glad you enjoyed it, Santos Halper.
Avatar Thu. 1/1/15 12:51pm Doug Schulkind:

I remember Randy Newman saying in an interview that Danny Elfman had a distinct sensibility: "It's Nino Rota's."

Love the theme of the show, Charlie. Very cool. Thanks for all you do.
Avatar Thu. 1/1/15 1:45pm glenn:

who the hell is al hibbler?
Avatar Thu. 1/1/15 1:47pm Doug Schulkind:

Al Hibbler was a magnificent crooner most active in the late '50s-early '60s. He was a blind dude. One of his greatest recordings was a collaboration with, if you can believe it, Rahsaan Roland Kirk! The great producer Joel Dorn pulled that session together for Atlantic Records. Amazing album.
Avatar Thu. 1/1/15 1:50pm Charlie:

I didn't know about the Roland Kirk album, Doug! I know him from his years with Duke Ellington, and solo records in the 50s.
Avatar Thu. 1/1/15 1:51pm glenn:

well. i learn something new every damn day.
Avatar Thu. 1/1/15 1:51pm Doug Schulkind:

Great album cover: www.somehowjazz.com...
Avatar Thu. 1/1/15 1:52pm Doug Schulkind:

As fate would have it, Al Hibbler sings Daybreak on that session with RR Kirk!
Avatar Thu. 1/1/15 1:54pm Charlie:

Ooh! I'll bet that's good.
Avatar Thu. 1/1/15 1:58pm ndbob:

excellent show Charlie!
Avatar Thu. 1/1/15 2:00pm Charlie:
