Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 12/12/14 9:41am Alex In Illinois:

Hi everyone. Listener James from Westwood's comment about his dad, "'Eighty!' Amazing to me what he's seen", reminds me of John Cleese talking about his century old mother living through most of the 20th century and being oblivious to everything significant that occurred during that century.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 12/12/14 9:43am listener james from westwood:

Cleese's mom's a centenarian? Wow! Hope it's genetic in his case. If all the screaming he did as Basil Fawlty didn't kill him, nothing will.

Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 12/12/14 10:08am Cecile:

Maybe she's close to developing her own style. I remember a lot of early Oblivions records sounding like carbon-copy garage stuff until something lit up in their brains. And then the floodgates happened - Reigning Sound and all those other Greg Cartwright projects.
Avatar Fri. 12/12/14 10:08am still b/p:

Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 12/12/14 11:16am Brian in UK:

@Paul sounds like a comic duo from the Seventies.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 12/12/14 11:20am Carmichael:

And I had the Batman AND Green Hornet mobiles, as well as track laid all over the house (which makes a good switch when your parents are mad at you).
Avatar Fri. 12/12/14 11:22am Doug Schulkind:

@Carmichael
The orange track with those purple connectors, amirite?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 12/12/14 11:23am Carmichael:

You bet, Doug. And a powerhouse to keep 'em going!

Doug, Detroit Jr was a fixture here in Chicago for many years...
  Fri. 12/12/14 11:41am Dean:

Thanks, βrian. Will do. Also, both my mother and my m-i-l hear "goddamn" in the lyrics to Meghan Trainor's "All About the Bass." Must be a generational thing.

Courtin Mama/going with my daughter...the other side of Heartstoppers is great
  Fri. 12/12/14 11:45am Dean:

@Cecile, I hear you, but I confess I still enjoy it, mostly because I enjoyed explaining some of the word play to my son. I'll go further: I quite enjoy some of the hits "kids these days" are listening to, the Taylor Swifts, the Ariane Grandes, what have you. My only complaint is their ubiquity. Takes away from my quality Rachmaninov time.
  Fri. 12/12/14 11:48am Robt:

Love this frankie seay soul food song.
Avatar Fri. 12/12/14 11:49am Doug Schulkind:

Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 12/12/14 11:53am Cecile:

Dean, I pretty much stick to Adele and Kendrick Lamar when it comes to the top 40 these days. I sound just like a codger npr listener looking at these words.

But I listen to a ton of current weird dance music, so there you go.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 12/12/14 11:54am Cecile:

Robyn. I like her too.

  Fri. 12/12/14 12:05pm Paul Sherratt:

What finer way to finish off a great collection of songs than to leave 'em wantin more ( OV )

Brian, saw the film ' Northern Soul ' this week. The music was the star, again.
