Heya Matt. I was in the first row at an intimate Gatemouth Brown show. I got up to go to the bathroom during a song, and I stepped on his perfectly-polished alligator boot. He did not appreciate it.

My dad is unaware that he is not to call between 2 and 4 on Thursdays. A belated hello, all!!

Where else could I miss six songs, only 14 minutes in? I ask you?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:18pm

Blink your ears and you miss a lot!

Anybody else, of a certain age, also always associate "September in the Rain" with those Al Jolsen gags in the Looney Tunes?

Jonathan mentions 1943 in this song like 30 years earlier was ancient history. We listen to this 40-year-old song because it's kinda cutting-edge.

johnk77: This NYC-area resident is looking forward to the end of the current retirement parade. Fortunately the team in question won't be in the playoffs and radio silence will hold until March.

Has it stopped raining? Good, I can go get a coffee. After this show is over, of course.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:02pm
listener james from westwood:

The Internet should be delivering coffee by this point. Else why did we even bother winning WWII?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:15pm
Uncle Michael:

Your internet doesn't?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:16pm
listener james from westwood:

Nah, just WFMU and the occasional bout of tsuris. Fortunately the former quells the latter.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:16pm
Uncle Michael:

And James, please join the ranks of copy editors that have abandoned capitalizing "internet." You'll love yourself for it.

UM: Enough of my clients still ask that it be capped that the habit is slow in fading. But I do see the logic.
Where are you on "email" vs. "e-mail"? My clients differ there, too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:31pm
Uncle Michael:

"email," for many years.
Avatar 3:32pm
Parq:

Do I still have to write "iPod" or can I start going with "Ipod"?
Avatar 3:35pm

I don't use either email or e-mail, I use spam.

Matt F:

Hey drr- welcome to yr new digs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36pm
listener james from westwood:

UM: Likewise. My first publishing job was ahead of the curve in 1992 by using the closed form, so that's how I roll unless instructed otherwise by a specific client. (You can imagine how many different style lists I have in my files.)
@Parq: Depends on whether or not you've bent it out of shape yet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:42pm
Uncle Michael:

I can imagine.

Of the last six artists whose songs were played, I've seen five live: Rev. Robert Wilkins (no lie), Ted Hawkins (at C.B.G.B.'s Gallery), Merle Haggard, Swamp Dogg, and James Carr.

Was that a certain Mr. Burton?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:54pm

Andy, you never saw the original Carter Family? WTF?!?

LJFW: Yep.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:57pm

He was one of the best things about the movie version of "1984." One of the worst things, surprisingly enough, IMO, was the Eurythmics' songs in the film.

Great show, Matt. Thank you.
