Heya Matt. I was in the first row at an intimate Gatemouth Brown show. I got up to go to the bathroom during a song, and I stepped on his perfectly-polished alligator boot. He did not appreciate it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 9/25/14 2:10pm listener james from westwood:

My dad is unaware that he is not to call between 2 and 4 on Thursdays. A belated hello, all!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Thu. 9/25/14 2:15pm Uncle Michael:

Where else could I miss six songs, only 14 minutes in? I ask you?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 9/25/14 2:18pm listener james from westwood:

Blink your ears and you miss a lot!

Humans making animal sounds on record. A Give the Drummer Radio specialty.

Never heard this Carr & Blackwell number before --- great one. Thanks Matt!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Thu. 9/25/14 2:19pm Uncle Michael:

I save that for mic breaks, Doug.

George Jones and Django Reinhardt. If it weren't Rosh Hashanah, I'd say it was Christmas.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Thu. 9/25/14 2:22pm Uncle Michael:

For those guys, every day is a high holiday.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Thu. 9/25/14 2:24pm Uncle Michael:

From your mouth to Adonai's ears, Doug.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 9/25/14 2:31pm Parq:

Anybody else, of a certain age, also always associate "September in the Rain" with those Al Jolsen gags in the Looney Tunes?
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Thu. 9/25/14 2:33pm Uncle Michael:

Yes. "Do you re_MEMBAH??"

Jonathan mentions 1943 in this song like 30 years earlier was ancient history. We listen to this 40-year-old song because it's kinda cutting-edge.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 9/25/14 2:56pm listener james from westwood:

johnk77: This NYC-area resident is looking forward to the end of the current retirement parade. Fortunately the team in question won't be in the playoffs and radio silence will hold until March.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 9/25/14 2:59pm Parq:

Has it stopped raining? Good, I can go get a coffee. After this show is over, of course.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 9/25/14 3:02pm listener james from westwood:

The Internet should be delivering coffee by this point. Else why did we even bother winning WWII?
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Thu. 9/25/14 3:15pm Uncle Michael:

Your internet doesn't?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 9/25/14 3:16pm listener james from westwood:

Nah, just WFMU and the occasional bout of tsuris. Fortunately the former quells the latter.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Thu. 9/25/14 3:16pm Uncle Michael:

And James, please join the ranks of copy editors that have abandoned capitalizing "internet." You'll love yourself for it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 9/25/14 3:18pm drr:

Hey, Matt! Tuned in from...Austin, Texas.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 9/25/14 3:28pm Parq:

Anyway, I like going out for coffee. The baristas are cute.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 9/25/14 3:30pm listener james from westwood:

UM: Enough of my clients still ask that it be capped that the habit is slow in fading. But I do see the logic.
Where are you on "email" vs. "e-mail"? My clients differ there, too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Thu. 9/25/14 3:31pm Uncle Michael:

"email," for many years.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 9/25/14 3:32pm Parq:

Do I still have to write "iPod" or can I start going with "Ipod"?
Avatar    Thu. 9/25/14 3:35pm duke:

I don't use either email or e-mail, I use spam.
Avatar    Thu. 9/25/14 3:35pm Matt F:

Hey drr- welcome to yr new digs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 9/25/14 3:36pm listener james from westwood:

UM: Likewise. My first publishing job was ahead of the curve in 1992 by using the closed form, so that's how I roll unless instructed otherwise by a specific client. (You can imagine how many different style lists I have in my files.)
@Parq: Depends on whether or not you've bent it out of shape yet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Thu. 9/25/14 3:42pm Uncle Michael:

I can imagine.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 9/25/14 3:44pm Parq:

James, gotta be careful with that baby, since I can't get another one any more.
Avatar    Thu. 9/25/14 3:45pm Matt F:

Avatar Swag For Life Member    Thu. 9/25/14 3:47pm Uncle Michael:

Swamp Dogg kicks so much ass.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 9/25/14 3:48pm listener james from westwood:

@Parq: Then definitely don't recharge it in the microwave, as some may have done to their new iPhone 6.
Avatar    Thu. 9/25/14 3:48pm Joe non Papa:

Does he still go up and down the aisles for 20 minutes singing the chorus?
  Thu. 9/25/14 3:51pm Andy S.:

Of the last six artists whose songs were played, I've seen five live: Rev. Robert Wilkins (no lie), Ted Hawkins (at C.B.G.B.'s Gallery), Merle Haggard, Swamp Dogg, and James Carr.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 9/25/14 3:54pm listener james from westwood:

Was that a certain Mr. Burton?
Avatar    Thu. 9/25/14 3:54pm Matt F:

Andy, you never saw the original Carter Family? WTF?!?
Avatar    Thu. 9/25/14 3:55pm Matt F:

LJFW: Yep.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 9/25/14 3:57pm listener james from westwood:

He was one of the best things about the movie version of "1984." One of the worst things, surprisingly enough, IMO, was the Eurythmics' songs in the film.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Thu. 9/25/14 4:00pm Uncle Michael:

Great show, Matt. Thank you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 9/25/14 4:01pm listener james from westwood:

Many thanks, Matt!
Avatar    Thu. 9/25/14 4:02pm Matt F:

Thanks, every last one of youse, for listening!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 9/25/14 4:02pm Parq:

Cheers, Matt.
