I'm not sure which character that was. My understanding is that in ye olden days of yore, before I came to NJ & discovered FMU, Ol' Pal Irwin had a whole range of identities, not just Gordon but various others. In my imagination, there are like 30 or 40 of them, ranging from filthy hippies to snobby country-club Republicans.

Ike, that was Evan "Spunk" Spizzerinktum.

@common: - never seen it - but I'm sure he's as good as what he was given...I always refer to Tim Riley's book 'Tell Me Why' on Beatles' tracks & musicianship; Ringo was perfect combination of steady simplicity, fluid adaptability & imagination for what would be required in that band. Okay - another roll here or there mighta been good...Reading the books & hearing the few tracks w/ Pete Best still in - he was stiff - altho' prob. driving & important @ an early stage (...& deffo dumped unceremoniously)...

  Wed. 8/20/14 4:05pm Robert:

Last I recall of Joe Frank's opinion on the prospects of new episodes was the fundraising marathon here close to the turn of the century, wherein he said that the restrictions needed to air them had become so severe that he no longer considered it worthwhile, but that he would come back if the tide turned on that score.

@fred: Frank has a great voice with dramatic solemnity, his descriptions are vivid, the backing tracks engaging, but the implausibility is excessive. I'll check that link later.

@dc waters: Plus, she's right at hand, I believe he does all his shows at home in New Orleans

  Wed. 8/20/14 4:52pm dc waters:

@P-90: She's not live on his show. At least I've never heard her live, and I haven't missed an episode in a couple of decades now. Besides, he airs from NOLA and London and L.A. He's been in London for the past several weeks (doing a play there).
