Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

Foot stompin' opener, Uncle M. And Doug, thanks for that last set; my socks had gotten pretty stinky. Humidity, y'know.

Stomp 'em dry.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 7/4/14 12:09pm Uncle Michael:

Anyone else having stream issues?
Avatar    Fri. 7/4/14 12:10pm Webhamster Henry:

Not I. The Stream is fine here in upstate NY.
Avatar    Fri. 7/4/14 12:12pm listener james from westwood:

Stream's rolling along placidly in NNJ.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 7/4/14 12:12pm pacific standard simon:

Maybe it's a local issue, like my hangover.

Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 7/4/14 12:17pm pacific standard simon:

I've been saving bubble wrap all year for this day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 7/4/14 12:18pm Uncle Michael:

That's pretty weak sauce, Simon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 7/4/14 12:19pm pacific standard simon:

You should try my chili -- I still have jalapeno burns on my fingers from last night.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 7/4/14 12:20pm Uncle Michael:

be careful in the bathroom
Avatar    Fri. 7/4/14 12:20pm listener james from westwood:

Putting in contacts the morning after making chili is always a thrill for just that reason.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 7/4/14 12:23pm pacific standard simon:

One of the neighbors brought over some home brew (in trade for saving empty bottles), so the lip burns were quickly eliminated.

Oh, and the stream stopped entirely while I was typing that. Restarted.
Avatar    Fri. 7/4/14 12:26pm listener james from westwood:

This household definitely practices HAACP food protocols. Suspect Egg Beaters went into the tip this morning.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 7/4/14 12:27pm Uncle Michael:

I don't think it's us, Simon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 7/4/14 12:30pm pacific standard simon:

Wouldn't be surprised if the local Comcast servers were being overloaded by people putting non-optimized waving-flag GIFS on their web pages this morning.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 7/4/14 12:31pm Uncle Michael:

gotta fold those flags properly
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 7/4/14 12:32pm pacific standard simon:

Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 7/4/14 12:57pm pacific standard simon:

I'll have to catch 'em on the archive; the stream isn't making any sense right now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 7/4/14 12:58pm Uncle Michael:

Sorry, Simon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 7/4/14 12:59pm pacific standard simon:

This reminds me that your old show ended with "Sweet Thursday".
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 7/4/14 12:59pm Uncle Michael:

It did. I miss that sometimes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 7/4/14 1:02pm pacific standard simon:

The program director at the Radio Bop '60s webstream is using short samples of Chickenman in between some of the songs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 7/4/14 1:03pm Uncle Michael:

Now that I'm not a "pirate" I don't touch Chickenman. Dick Orkin sells a very particular license to play that stuff on radio or on a stream.
Avatar    Fri. 7/4/14 1:05pm listener james from westwood:

Skyrocket of a first hour, UM!
Avatar    Fri. 7/4/14 1:05pm Webhamster Henry:

It made me wonder if "Harold Levine" was one of your old listeners.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 7/4/14 1:11pm Uncle Michael:

Thanks, James.

Who's Harold Levine, Simon? Radio Bop?
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 7/4/14 1:13pm pacific standard simon:

Yep, PD for the entire Bop Radio "network" of "stations".
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 7/4/14 1:37pm pacific standard simon:

I'm missing the family BBQ today because work requires my mad baking skills.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 7/4/14 1:38pm Uncle Michael:

What's on the baking agenda?
Avatar Fri. 7/4/14 1:39pm V Priceless:

Great show Uncle Michael!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 7/4/14 1:40pm Uncle Michael:

Thank you, VP. I'm glad you're enjoying it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 7/4/14 1:42pm pacific standard simon:

I do all kinds of bread, but slider buns are in high demand this weekend. Other folks are handling the cherry pies that everyone wants.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 7/4/14 1:43pm Uncle Michael:

Now i want White Castle. Thanks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 7/4/14 1:44pm pacific standard simon:

I don't think White Castle puts pulled pork on theirs...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 7/4/14 1:45pm Uncle Michael:

not on purpose
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 7/4/14 1:47pm pacific standard simon:

I will enjoy the rest of this show massively on the archive!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 7/4/14 1:48pm Uncle Michael:

Heading out?
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 7/4/14 1:49pm pacific standard simon:

...what a great program here I miss werking for a living & that crap...too much quality, too little lifespan !!...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 7/4/14 2:04pm Uncle Michael:

Thanks very much Rev...I live to keep people conflicted about gainful employment.
Avatar Fri. 7/4/14 2:06pm Doug Schulkind:

Hey Uncle Michael, the Orioles would like Jason Hammel back now, thank you very much.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 7/4/14 2:06pm Uncle Michael:

Isn't that a shame?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 7/4/14 2:07pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...gainful is overstating it...freedom to play the music I wanted was even shut down; I was on the verge of starting to stream there, even...oh - to be locked to a desk & hear what I choose...
Avatar Fri. 7/4/14 2:07pm Doug Schulkind:

Throw in Jake Arieta and we'll give you Scott Feldman. Whaddya say?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 7/4/14 2:09pm Uncle Michael:

I say that no team has enough to trade for both of them.
Avatar    Fri. 7/4/14 2:17pm listener james from westwood:

At my last fulltime job, I was called down to HR to be told that I couldn't stream via their computer network. Could have been solved via an email or phonecall, but the chittering locust who ran that department needed to pretend she was a grade school vice principal. Good work to be done at that job, terrible environment in which to do it.
Avatar    Fri. 7/4/14 2:18pm listener james from westwood:

UM, I am 100% behind that feeling. I have a certain handful of songs that totally transfix me like that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 7/4/14 2:22pm Uncle Michael:

I didn't know there was a "goosebumps" moment in that song till just now. It might not even reoccur.
Avatar    Fri. 7/4/14 2:28pm listener james from westwood:

Neurochemistry + timing = le bumps de goose.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 7/4/14 2:30pm Uncle Michael:

I think so...but the art probably deserves a little credit.
Avatar    Fri. 7/4/14 2:34pm listener james from westwood:

Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 7/4/14 2:35pm Uncle Michael:

Too bad Pat hasn't let his balls dangle more often.
Avatar Fri. 7/4/14 2:37pm Doug Schulkind:

I am no Pat Metheny fan, but...this...is...great
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 7/4/14 2:50pm Uncle Michael:

This cover sounds like it ought to be some muscle shoals or memphis thing...but it's a Tim Hardin song.
Avatar Fri. 7/4/14 2:54pm ndbob:

See you good people next week!
Avatar Wed. 7/9/14 12:44am Droll:

Ahhhh, Styx... I love you, but nobody else understands your progged-pop-art-hard rock...

Yep, you forgot. The date for "Spirit Of Us" is still 1070.

You called it "reefer" without irony! I also used to have a bunch of Loss Leaders -- 6 hours of flashbacks will be fun! It's a pretty diverse set of albums.

I thought you were kidding about "Elvis' Greatest Shit", but you were not. I laughed, I cried.

All kinds of good listening...

Hope you had a good flight to ChIll. See you in archiveland again soon.
