Avatar Wed. 6/25/14 12:14pm Duane:

Hey Jeremy! That sounds amazing!! Where was it? Hola fellow hump day travelers!
Avatar Wed. 6/25/14 12:17pm Jshatan:

It turns out that she has a day job working for a financial company and sang as part of a talent show at a fundraiser. She should have won but was robbed!
Avatar Wed. 6/25/14 12:18pm robyn:

enjoying all the zara mcfarlane these past few weeks.
Avatar Wed. 6/25/14 12:37pm Patrick:

Duane, a WFMU DJ that does not like the doors? what are the odds??
Avatar Wed. 6/25/14 12:38pm totallybiased:

Spanky Wilson's 'Light My Fire' is BOMB
Avatar Wed. 6/25/14 12:38pm Duane:

Patrick: Shocking, right??? There's even some WFMU DJs who..dislike the Beatles! *gasp*
Avatar Wed. 6/25/14 12:38pm Patrick:

OHIO Funk edition!!! im so excited im gonna bite someones shoulder!! ive been waiting for years!
Avatar Wed. 6/25/14 12:41pm Patrick:

i remember when The Best Show used to be on and that one dude from the doors died and Tom said he thought about doing a small tribute to him, but then realized that it would be totally disingenuous considering he had spent hours of the show talking about how much he hated the doors.
Avatar Wed. 6/25/14 12:43pm Duane:

Yeah..I've been known to write published essays about how the Doors are responsible for some of the worst musical trends of the past 30 years..:)
Avatar Wed. 6/25/14 12:47pm Patrick:

bravo Duane you are doing to lords work!
Avatar Wed. 6/25/14 12:49pm Jshatan:

I'm just going to ride out this anti-Doors storm...
  Wed. 6/25/14 12:49pm Lulu:

man, this is gooooood!
Avatar Wed. 6/25/14 12:50pm still b/p:

Please direct us to where you swatted the Lizard King & Co., so we can read the makin' o' the case.
Avatar Wed. 6/25/14 12:51pm Jshatan:

This is a fantastic version! My favorite to sing along with is Harry Nilsson's demented take, however.
Avatar Wed. 6/25/14 12:56pm Duane:

still b/p: I gotta find it..it was for the Finders Keepers 'zine. I think I wrote it back in '05. I got wasted with Andy Votel, Gareth Cherrystones & Jazzman Gerald and they were rolling on the floor when I started ranting, cuz the bartender wouldn't stop playing the Doors..they made me write an essay for them..it's called "The Doors get slammed"
Wed. 6/25/14 1:00pm david from ks:

,,,,, nnnPlease ! Keep the doors Locked!!!
Avatar Wed. 6/25/14 1:02pm still b/p:

Or you could take a taste for y'self right now and rrrrramp it up again, live! ..over a non-Doors groove bg.
Avatar Wed. 6/25/14 1:03pm Kat in Chicago:

Getting wasted with Andy Votel sounds like fun :) also, perfect title for that essay.
Avatar Wed. 6/25/14 1:05pm still b/p:

And though he didn't know it was happening, Duane won that night's Spoken Word Slam.
Avatar Wed. 6/25/14 1:06pm Duane:

Kat: Wasted with Andy is more like a contact sport and endurance test, but it's still Pretty fun, once you know what you're in for..those Northerners, man!
Avatar Wed. 6/25/14 1:06pm robyn:

i want to read The Doors essay, too. Maybe it'll make me feel better for the hours I lost being lectured to about how Jim Morrison was such a genius in high school...
Avatar Wed. 6/25/14 1:10pm robyn:

I'd venture to guess if Jim Morrison looked like Wallace Shawn we would spend a lot less time listening to/about the Doors.
Avatar Wed. 6/25/14 1:11pm Kat in Chicago:

@robyn I suspect as much
Avatar Wed. 6/25/14 1:18pm steve:

helloooo
Avatar Wed. 6/25/14 1:20pm Duane:

Hello Steve!
Avatar Wed. 6/25/14 1:22pm Duane:

Avatar Wed. 6/25/14 1:23pm Greg from Bloomfield:

@robyn: Yeah, but that's inconceivable.
Avatar Wed. 6/25/14 1:23pm still b/p:

Oliver Stone should've cast Shawn instead of Kilmer. Now, that's a movie.
Avatar Wed. 6/25/14 1:24pm Duane:

still b/p: OH Hell Yeah! THat woulda been sick..HAHA
Avatar Wed. 6/25/14 1:27pm robyn:

@still b/p hahaha... well, hey, shawn IS the better actor!
Avatar Wed. 6/25/14 1:29pm robyn:

  Wed. 6/25/14 1:51pm thriftstoreleather:

Avatar Wed. 6/25/14 1:57pm Jshatan:

Broth? Was Dennis Coffey involved in this somehow? It has his sound.
  Wed. 6/25/14 1:57pm speck:

Great show!!! Loved Merryweather & Casey - Shop Around. Got a link to where I can get that?
Avatar Wed. 6/25/14 2:00pm Duane:

speck: Thanx..I played it off of vinyl, but I think it's floating around..it's a pretty famous breakbeat, so I think it's "out there"
Avatar Wed. 6/25/14 2:01pm Duane:

JSHatan: Yeah no Coffey as far as I know, but it's got that dirty funky lead guitar ala Dennis. Grime!!
Avatar Wed. 6/25/14 2:05pm slugluv1313:

howdy Duane and listeners!

Avatar Wed. 6/25/14 2:31pm Sem Chumbo:

Liking this train of tunes and the wiggy passengers it carries. I'm with Ken from Hyde Park, you're seriously swinging today, D.
Avatar Wed. 6/25/14 2:32pm rsj:

GGreat show as always! What a day!
Avatar Wed. 6/25/14 2:34pm t_J:

hi every1, hello Duane, k's choice up next or what?
Avatar Wed. 6/25/14 2:38pm Guido from Cologne:

Actually those artificial vinyl crackles on Texas/Votel made me remember the Cubase Seqencer Demo Song back in 1996 ! ...hehehe...
Avatar Wed. 6/25/14 2:41pm Guido from Cologne:

Dug the shop around loui treatments.

Doesnt that bass guitar sound defintely British? If i remember right, one of the two producer/writers played it.
Avatar Wed. 6/25/14 2:42pm t_J:

if there's been ever some "perfect songs" written they will surely be found easily on funk or soul ... besides the beatles
Avatar Wed. 6/25/14 2:43pm Duane:

Guido:Yeah Neil Merryweather played bass on that one
Avatar Wed. 6/25/14 2:44pm t_J:

i liked it some flavors of double picking
Avatar Wed. 6/25/14 2:47pm t_J:

in rock too don't get me wrong but i said "perfect"
Avatar Wed. 6/25/14 2:55pm Guido from Cologne:

Loved the show!
(Listen oudoors on my bike.)
Looking foward to the next episode and fi ally to find your premium in the mail!
  Wed. 6/25/14 2:55pm Ray:

This is an awesome beat. Enjoying it greatly.
Avatar Wed. 6/25/14 2:58pm t_J:

meaning that in pop you also can look for perfection but it's more vast and in rock you have to explore its extremes in order to decode comfort of fulfillment..
Avatar Wed. 6/25/14 2:59pm chris:

woot! thanks, Daune! Thanks, All!
Avatar Wed. 6/25/14 3:00pm t_J:

comfort, if not looking for profit, can mean the property of your own way and the licks far past the memory of your sounds
