That was one of my favorite recordings of any kind for all time, that Snurdy McGurdy. I had the great joy to play in an ensemble led by Hugh Ragin. He was the nicest man you could ever meet. A decade later, I went up to at a club in D.C., quite certain that he would never remember this pasty kid he worked with for one semester a decade ago, and before I got within five feet of him, he turned saw me and embraced me with a big hug. Part of me never came down from that.
