Evening, music lovers.
  Sun. 6/1/14 10:01pm 12539:

The final stretch begins!
  Sun. 6/1/14 10:01pm P-90:

The Duke!
  Sun. 6/1/14 10:02pm P-90:

Cant go wrong with a starter like this.

Good Evening, DJ Dave M.
Avatar Sun. 6/1/14 10:03pm Whooda:

I'll stay as long as McDonalds will have me. I'm in the parking lot, the wifi signal is nice and strong here.
Avatar Sun. 6/1/14 10:05pm Whooda:

I see the chairs are being set upside down on the tables inside McDonalds...Damnh!. The parking lot cops can't be far behind. See ya'll at Walmart.
Avatar Sun. 6/1/14 10:05pm Dave Mandl:

Evening, 12539, P-90. @Whooda: Just stay away from the food.
  Sun. 6/1/14 10:05pm P-90:

The final "truncated" World of Echo." Until someone screws around with the schedule again to "try something different"
Avatar Sun. 6/1/14 10:06pm Whooda:

Thanks Dave, I take my McDonald's one dollar menu item at a time.
Avatar Sun. 6/1/14 10:09pm Droll:

goodnight, Whooda! Be safe -- unless you need to drill right through your carb, just don't smoke if there's gas involved.
Avatar Sun. 6/1/14 10:12pm Dave Mandl:

Hey, Droll.
Avatar Sun. 6/1/14 10:13pm Whooda:

Fuck! I wish I could listen to Therese and amEdeo too like the good ole days.
Avatar Sun. 6/1/14 10:13pm Droll:

Loved the Ribot -- he's such a signature player. Immediately recognizable playing.
Avatar Sun. 6/1/14 10:14pm coelacanth:

Hi Dave Mandl, and others!

Hey Whooda- if you meant the "profile" images,Thank you!...but they're different media. 3 colored pencils-1 affected by "gimp"; & 2 watercolor pencil paintings.
Avatar Sun. 6/1/14 10:15pm Whooda:

@Droll Thanks, I've already needlessly replaced my in-tank fuel pump in a grocery store parking lot. In an effort to quell the Abominable Snowball
Avatar Sun. 6/1/14 10:16pm coelacanth:

....this too shall pass...There'll be good NEW days.
Avatar Sun. 6/1/14 10:16pm Whooda:

@coelacanth NICE
Avatar Sun. 6/1/14 10:16pm Dave Mandl:

Evening, @coelacanth.
Avatar Sun. 6/1/14 10:19pm Droll:

Whooda, Keep up the practice repairs -- you're going to eventually roll into a small town without a mechanic and find a gig.

Also check out those Pringles can wifi antennas -- a friend gets his free wifi from a Starbucks almost .5 miles away. Antenna in a tree helps.
  Sun. 6/1/14 10:20pm HollyT:

Hi Dave! Your girl looks like she's trying out for membership in the Shangr-Las.
Avatar Sun. 6/1/14 10:41pm Dave Mandl:

Hey, pss. Are you referring to some photo I posted?
  Sun. 6/1/14 10:41pm Carmichael:

Sheez, i go flip the chicken on the bbq and watch the season closer of Silicon Valley, and there's a new dj in the booth! Hey Dave!
Avatar Sun. 6/1/14 10:42pm Dave Mandl:

Hey Carmichael. Yup, it's me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 6/1/14 10:43pm pacific standard simon:

Yeah, Tumblr. Not being disrespectful at all -- it was pretty cool.
Avatar Sun. 6/1/14 10:45pm Droll:

[Shuddering at the thought of a TV show called "Silicon Valley"]
It makes a reality show about driving on ice or rummaging through storage units seem sane.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 6/1/14 10:47pm pacific standard simon:

@Droll - Make mine magazine Sunset (it occurs to me that the East Coast people probably don't know what that is).
Avatar Sun. 6/1/14 10:48pm JakeGould:

@Droll: “Silicon Valley” sounds like a good show. But I don’t care about shows like that. And technically work with people like that.
  Sun. 6/1/14 10:48pm mark Flynn:

That Bischoff/Perkis track was surprisingly accessible for an "electronics" track for the late 80s. Glad ur getting 3hours.
Avatar Sun. 6/1/14 10:49pm JakeGould:

Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 6/1/14 10:49pm pacific standard simon:

Sadly, my schedule has shifted too -- working Sundays, now, so I'll probably be late for this show every week.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 6/1/14 10:50pm Andrew Waterloo:

I feel like reading Microserfs and J-Pod was all the reading I needed to do about people in a field similar to mine.
  Sun. 6/1/14 10:51pm Carmichael:

@Droll: not a reality show, rather a sitcom poking huge fun at its title. As a veteran of that BS environment, i love the savage comedy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 6/1/14 10:51pm Andrew Waterloo:

Hey! Don Cherry does look like the robot from Logan's Run
Avatar Sun. 6/1/14 10:51pm Dave Mandl:

@Droll: No offense taken at all. I was just wondering. Thanks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 6/1/14 10:51pm Andrew Waterloo:

Don Cherry.. the hockey commentator in Canada.
  Sun. 6/1/14 10:53pm P-90:

The "Frampton Comes alive " version is SO burned into my memory, I hear every note that's different
Hi pss!
Avatar Sun. 6/1/14 10:53pm coelacanth:

Andrew W. -you had me worried for a second!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 6/1/14 10:53pm pacific standard simon:

Today, I posted on Tumblr that it was the 40th anniversary of the Ayers, Cale, Eno & Nico concert named June 1st, 1974, when it was released as an album later. I hope someone at WFMU had the presence of mind to play something from it.
  Sun. 6/1/14 10:53pm Carmichael:

Dave! Just saw Frampton last summer. It was truly majestic. Richard Thompson came out for a few songs.
Avatar Sun. 6/1/14 10:54pm Dave Mandl:

@Carmihael: Serious? Wow. I've still got a weak spot for Frampton. He was very good till he got mega-big.
Avatar Sun. 6/1/14 10:55pm Dave Mandl:

@pss: Wow, I didn't think of that. Good call.
Avatar Sun. 6/1/14 10:55pm JakeGould:

Frampton is burned in my mind thanks to “Frampton Comes Alive.” Just hearing it played everywhere in Brooklyn growing up in then 1970s.
Avatar Sun. 6/1/14 10:56pm coelacanth:

[...anyone else just lose the signal?..]
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 6/1/14 10:56pm pacific standard simon:

Although this show would probably be the perfect spot to do that.

Hi, p-90. Like Jack Palance, I p-100.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 6/1/14 10:56pm Tome:

Frampton Comes live & Kiss Alive --==-- 2 records where most only first discovered the songs live so true ,, oh and Freebird and few others ,, haha .. maybe... & Howdy Dave & Folks from B'klyn here ,,
Avatar Sun. 6/1/14 10:57pm Dave Mandl:

Hiya, Tome.
Avatar Sun. 6/1/14 10:57pm coelacanth:

{nevermind. it's back.}
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 6/1/14 10:57pm Andrew Waterloo:

@coelacanth.. yah.. on Tuesday I'll be at a bar referring to Don Cherry the jazz guy.. well.. probably not, but if I talked about Don Cherry the Jazz guy I would have to add "The jazz Guy"
  Sun. 6/1/14 10:59pm Carmichael:

@DaveM: the guy is still a stellar blues player. "Shut up and play yer guitar" is what he was born to do.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 6/1/14 10:59pm pacific standard simon:

Hockey Night!!!

Kings and Blackhawks are tied again? Oh shit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 6/1/14 11:01pm pacific standard simon:

Best album title ever.
Avatar Sun. 6/1/14 11:01pm coelacanth:

most of the folks i'd be speaking of the trumpet player to,at least locally, are probably as ignorant about sports commentators as i am,so -it's never come up!
  Sun. 6/1/14 11:01pm coalhard:

I saw wfmu bldg.on google earth the other day and I think one of the bricks is cracked !
Avatar Sun. 6/1/14 11:01pm JakeGould:

The thing about “Frampton Comes Alive” and “Cheap Trick Live at Budokan” is those albums were always prefaces by others the following way in high school, “I don’t really like (Cheap Trick or Peter Frampton), but I really like this album.” Such hipster posing in the early 1980s!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 6/1/14 11:02pm pacific standard simon:

And let's not forget "Live Bullet".
Avatar Sun. 6/1/14 11:03pm JakeGould:

Never got into “Live Bullet.” That’s your old man being 10 years older than me thing I think.
  Sun. 6/1/14 11:03pm Carmichael:

Hipsters are timeless! I really dig that Rudy Vallee!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 6/1/14 11:04pm Andrew Waterloo:

@Jake, it's a more honest statement than saying "I like Radiohead, just not the last 80% of their catalog"
  Sun. 6/1/14 11:05pm mark Flynn:

But it was the live album after Allman Brothers Live At The Filmore East. I say that as a so-so Framp fan. Close 3rd is Yes Songs ( where Close To The Edge and Siberian Khatru are much better than the studio version ), and Steve Miller Band "The Gangster Is Back". "Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out".
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 6/1/14 11:05pm pacific standard simon:

My fave Peter Frampton song was that one he did with Chris Spedding on the Thelonious Monk tribute album -- the sonofabitch really CAN play guitar.
Avatar Sun. 6/1/14 11:05pm coelacanth:

i,at the time-as now, really dislike both those live albums.(cheap trick & -comes alive) but i remember kids saying just that.
Avatar Sun. 6/1/14 11:06pm JakeGould:

@AndrewWaterloo: I will always remember the days I would say “I don’t like Radiohead.” and so-called friends acted like I just committed blasphemy.
  Sun. 6/1/14 11:07pm mark Flynn:

Deserve's serious props too.

Talking rock world.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 6/1/14 11:08pm pacific standard simon:

I'd say that I can't even remember ever hearing anything by Radiohead after their second album, but I'm not sure I want that much hipster cred.
Avatar Sun. 6/1/14 11:09pm coelacanth:

(i seldom liked live albums back then..."Grand funk live album"is an exception, being the most raw,and best GF album....yeah,& Get yer ya-yas out.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 6/1/14 11:09pm Andrew Waterloo:

@JakeGould.. I know.. and they act like the offense is you're not being open minded. Couldn't be a difference in taste.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 6/1/14 11:10pm pacific standard simon:

Frank Zappa's Roxy & Elsewhere was a wonderful live album...
Avatar Sun. 6/1/14 11:11pm coelacanth:

Oh yeah... Allman Brothers,of course!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 6/1/14 11:11pm Andrew Waterloo:

@PSS.. I was really into them through the Bends and OK Computer but not much afterwards.. it was the first time I had money an access to good record stores so Radiohead wasn't very interesting to me at the time. But I listened to Kid A this weekend and was surprised at how well I knew the album.
Avatar Sun. 6/1/14 11:14pm coelacanth:

(in my lowly opinion,Radiohead has always been and continues to be extraordinary,in several ways.)
  Sun. 6/1/14 11:15pm mark Flynn:

That Zappa album is pretty extrodinary. Post "Hot Rats" yes?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 6/1/14 11:15pm Andrew Waterloo:

Eventually I'll listen to everything post Amnesia
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 6/1/14 11:16pm pacific standard simon:

Yeah. 5 years after, Mark.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sun. 6/1/14 11:16pm pacific standard simon:

I saw that band 3 times.
Avatar Sun. 6/1/14 11:17pm JakeGould:

“Hot August Night” with that cover of Neil Diamond like he is pantomiming air crotch stuff.
Avatar Sun. 6/1/14 11:19pm coelacanth:

i think their weakest albums are post-amnesiac.(hail to the thief,& king of limbs) but in rainbows is superb, esp. if you get yer hands on the "bonus disc" as well.
  Sun. 6/1/14 11:19pm coalhard:

We had a local artist who could play a mean rendition of GF but was killed by jealous boyfriend his name was Barlow-had long hair down to his waist--happy ending to story though he influenced me and others
Avatar Sun. 6/1/14 11:19pm JakeGould:

In the great scheme of things I don’t give a flying anything about Radiohead.
  Sun. 6/1/14 11:20pm 12539:

Is The Necks jazz, or rock? Let's see if Dave lists the players or not.
Avatar Sun. 6/1/14 11:20pm Droll:

Hot August Night was my gateway to Neil Diamond. Every "Hhhhuuaa" on that album is engrammed into my DNA.
  Sun. 6/1/14 11:22pm mark Flynn:

Radiohead is a brilliant studio band that brings it to the live setting, much like Massive Attack. Their live albums showcase their skills, for whatever reason, there were bands in the 70's who were essentially live bands that did great studio albums but shined live. Few bands have been able to pull that off. In the jazz world, there are so many good live recordings it's another realm.
Avatar Sun. 6/1/14 11:25pm coelacanth:

mark Flynn- agree on all accounts...It's amazing to me that the vast majority of my favorite jazz record were recorded live,in on take.
  Sun. 6/1/14 11:25pm mark Flynn:

Oh, yeah, Neil Young, case in point.

Hey Dave -- remember last year, when I said that it was still light out on Bainbridge Island as your show was ending? It's doing that again. I think we're actually further north than Montreal, here.
Avatar Sun. 6/1/14 11:51pm Droll:

I hope the third hour is all rock, for total of about 34%. The Prog Police have already issued new incident report forms with the new quotas.
Avatar Sun. 6/1/14 11:52pm coelacanth:

i would very much like Sue P. back on the schedule, and as has been the case for a decade or 2 now, there are some shows that i want absolutely nothing to do with...but overall the new schedule looks pretty good to me.
