Avatar    Sat. 5/17/14 3:17am Bill Mac:

@Stanley - Yep you're part of the family alright - I'm thinking the prodigal son...
Avatar Sat. 5/17/14 3:17am mauri:

@Brian no I did not. the portal it went trhough dont seem to open again. Good thing I dont need it and I managed to install internet radio on my phone again so wfmu is possible when outdoors. should do forst work but I'm still too intoxicated for billhook handling.
Avatar Sat. 5/17/14 3:18am Fran:

Mr Baker......or Mr Badcrumble? As a drummer of sorts myself I've never been overly impressed with him as a virtuoso like many - but he has his moments and he does have a knack of fitting in with some amazing musicians e.g. Fela Kuti's band and there was his Hawkwind moment so......I did see his 'Jazz Confusion' group last year which was damn good I have to say. Bill, my second best friend, the answer is in the post.
Avatar    Sat. 5/17/14 3:19am Stanley:

Yo Bill - the fatted calf awaits.
Avatar    Sat. 5/17/14 3:20am Brian in UK:

mauri, sorry to hear that. We do not want that bilhook flying out of your hands.
Avatar Sat. 5/17/14 3:21am mauri:

A branch of my own trunk coming off isn't called for.
Avatar    Sat. 5/17/14 3:22am Brian in UK:

If Stanley is the prodigal son, there's three years of washing up to do.
Avatar    Sat. 5/17/14 3:22am Bill Mac:

@Fran I just saw that he did some jazz things in the late 80s with Nicky Scopelitis, Sonny Sharrock , Peter Brotzmann and Jan Kazda. Let could be interesting listening
Avatar Sat. 5/17/14 3:22am Fran:

Yes Mauri - a soft drink before billhooking in the future please - you never know what unsuspecting woodland creature might lose a home
Avatar    Sat. 5/17/14 3:22am Stanley:

Ginger Baker.... actually he wasn't as foul-mouthed as I was expecting. Just a grumpy old bastard. I absolutely loved the old Cream footage.
Avatar    Sat. 5/17/14 3:23am Bill Mac:

They shold have put Frippertronics in the run out groove to allow getting ready for the big flipover - an induced dreamy state and nobody might notice the 5 seconds silence
Avatar    Sat. 5/17/14 3:56am Brian in UK:

Fran Lewis Taylor playing in EBE towards the end and he has a Marvin Gaye fixation. Go figure.
Avatar    Sat. 5/17/14 3:56am Stanley:

Brian Turner played Emerson Lake & Palmer's Karn Evil 9 this week. It set the comments board alight!
Avatar    Sat. 5/17/14 3:58am Bill Mac:

The fact that you have to interrupt your moment to get off your ass already ruins the effect.
Avatar    Sat. 5/17/14 3:58am Brian in UK:

HR Giger died this week (Brian Salad Surgery) Do not infer anything from this comment.
Avatar    Sat. 5/17/14 3:59am Sem Chumbo:

Fast crowd on this board. Good morning, Bill, from Nova Scotia, and hello all. @Brian in UK: cards on table. I took mescaline and heard Court of the Crimson King for the first time on the same night

Morning Sem, yeah we're all immune to each others' microbes - basically we're one entity that talks to itself for three hours...
Avatar Sat. 5/17/14 4:01am Fran:

Lewis Taylor - a much missed/where is he now man! Has anyone heard the bootlegged version of Trout Mask Replica he did playing everything himself? Bootlegged, heard by few and swiftly policed very carefully by Lewis himself apparently to avoid future postings - I've never heard it but would love to.
HR Giger - he could have played Debbie Harry so.....

Avatar Sat. 5/17/14 4:05am Fran:

I've really liked anything Lewis put out - Stoned is good too! In a way, the English Prince as many have said but that's a lazy comparison
Avatar    Sat. 5/17/14 4:06am Sem Chumbo:

@Bill: Escher Sketch, dangerously close to a genius idea.

It was reminder though that we are right on East River and this building was flooded via Sandy
Avatar    Sat. 5/17/14 5:16am Bill Mac:

@Guido That's right. Come to love much of his material once I got past his off key singing. It belongs there.
Avatar Sat. 5/17/14 5:18am Fran:

The Ramblin' Jeffrey Lee stuff is good too
Avatar    Sat. 5/17/14 5:18am Bill Mac:

Is that him solo acoustic?
Avatar Sat. 5/17/14 5:20am Fran:

Not solo - but a blues set up with Cypress Grove, Willie Love and others
Avatar    Sat. 5/17/14 5:21am Bill Mac:

I might have that somewheres...
Avatar Sat. 5/17/14 5:23am Fran:

Its not bad - like all his/Gun Club stuff a mixed bag but the good is very good
Avatar    Sat. 5/17/14 5:24am Bill Mac:

His albums would almost always work out to be 50/50.
Avatar Sat. 5/17/14 5:25am Fran:

Agreed best friend
Avatar    Sat. 5/17/14 5:28am Guido from Cologne:

Some recent Pete Townshend interview confused me.
He sais how much he was concerned about people being in key.
Blaming some promintent groups for singing off key.
But take the mit/late-60ies Who: there's quite a lot pretty much off key.
my ex-girlfriend had the absolute pitch. She was suffering bodily from old Who recordings.
Avatar    Sat. 5/17/14 5:29am Brian in UK:

Good groove to this set, Bill.
Avatar    Sat. 5/17/14 5:32am Bill Mac:

Hah, there's something to be said about recordings that are not 'perfect'. I forgot to mention earlier that I spent a few hours watching movies (I think most were BBC TV things) about the progressive years. They interviewed Ian Anderson who said that he couldn't understand why people wanted to go back to more primitive styles of music.
Avatar    Sat. 5/17/14 5:40am Guido from Cologne:

They were well educated young man who were proud of being able to proove that there was some "real culture and virtuosity" in their music. ... exactly the thing that could get one ones nerves if all the "culture and virtuosity" suffers lack of ideas. It start to become pretentious. But by very nature those prog guys were heading for the future and future and better and quicker and masterwork follows masterwork forever ...
Avatar    Sat. 5/17/14 5:42am Stanley:

.... ending up with King Arthur on Ice!
Avatar Sat. 5/17/14 5:43am Fran:

Wakeman!!!!!!!!!!!! No!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Avatar    Sat. 5/17/14 5:43am Bill Mac:

Speaking of which, how did Rick Wakeman land a talk show?
Avatar    Sat. 5/17/14 5:43am Stanley:

Ah...that ol' primitive style music
Avatar    Sat. 5/17/14 5:44am Brian in UK:

First Genesis produced by that pervert Jonathan King.

Ian Anderson loves........Ian Anderson.
Avatar    Sat. 5/17/14 5:45am Brian in UK:

Bill, Wakeman is very affable fellow.
Avatar Sat. 5/17/14 5:45am Fran:

I can handle a bit of Tull though Brian......earlier better - they never went full on prog.
Avatar    Sat. 5/17/14 5:46am Bill Mac:

As much as I loved much of that music, I was glad he seemed disappointed...
Avatar    Sat. 5/17/14 5:46am Stanley:

Bill - I think he got popular by appearing on a long running show called Grumpy Old Men. Worth a check out.
Avatar    Sat. 5/17/14 5:46am Guido from Cologne:

... a lot of bands stopped being interesting, when they started to perfom in a "professional manner" or were "able to play". German bands are typical for that.:
Can, Amon Düül II, Eloy, Guru Guru
Avatar    Sat. 5/17/14 5:47am Brian in UK:

Stanley do you watch THAT sort of show.
Avatar    Sat. 5/17/14 5:47am Stanley:

Guido - no one can stay young for long.
Avatar    Sat. 5/17/14 5:48am Bill Mac:

I also got a look at a glam retrospective. I enjoyed the Noddy Holder interview.
Avatar    Sat. 5/17/14 5:50am Brian in UK:

For Wakeman ready Noddy. The Affable Boys. What happened to knarly Rock 'n Roll. Oh yes, Lou died last year.
Avatar    Sat. 5/17/14 5:50am Stanley:

Not really, Brian. Everything (including that sort of show) is shite.
Avatar    Sat. 5/17/14 5:51am Brian in UK:

TV (in general) would make Lord Reith turn in his grave.
Avatar    Sat. 5/17/14 5:51am Stanley:

I used to enjoy bands that could hardly stand up on stage, let alone play.
Avatar    Sat. 5/17/14 5:52am Brian in UK:

Crispian once said he would be bigger than Elvis. He just never ate enough burgers.
Avatar    Sat. 5/17/14 5:52am Guido from Cologne:

... i deny the legend that you have to be young to rock!
Quite a fewof the re-incarnated indie bands from the recend years prove the oposite.
Some are even better! but what they have in commen they do not bother with professionalism in musicanship.
Avatar Sat. 5/17/14 5:52am Fran:

I'm not getting into this TV stream - Bill has to go soon!
Avatar    Sat. 5/17/14 5:53am Brian in UK:
