Hello Wm!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 4/23/14 12:07am Ken From Hyde Park:

Holy crow! I was afraid the zombie CD got fried. Luckily, it was just a minor egregious technical error.
  Wed. 4/23/14 12:07am Frenchy:

so much better than Goblin
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 12:10am Wm.:

We were just talking & distracted, Dave H., his guest, and I. I like the minor errors. Hola, Samantha! Saw your LinkedIn photo- your eyes are incredible, hypnotic! ...And Frenchy, it's all damn good; I couldn't say Frizzi is "better" - you're free to, of course.
  Wed. 4/23/14 12:11am Frenchy:

Different. Sorry.
  Wed. 4/23/14 12:13am Frenchy:

This Tzadisk release is reminding me of some of Burzum's prison release stuff circa Balder's Dod but I like it!

Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 4/23/14 12:13am hola-soymilk:

Thanks about my eyes, they help me see stuff
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 12:15am Wm.:

I was really taken with this piece; it's also entitled, "In Gloria Dei," which does make me cringe a bit. But I'm hoping the God Zorn was referring to was himself, not "the" God.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 4/23/14 12:15am hola-soymilk:

I actually didn't know I had a linked in, I thought I deleted it, but then I got your notification! So I guess it'll go to some use :3

@hola-soymilk LinkedIn is cool, especially for us with non-conventional employment, freelancers and the like. Your eyes- functional AND very pretty! I'm such an apple-polisher!
  Wed. 4/23/14 12:17am Frenchy:

Wm, is Zorn the one playing the organ here? Wish he did more of this stuff if it is.
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 12:20am Wm.:

Yes, it's Zorn playing; of course, he got access to the massive organ at St. Paul's Chapel.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 4/23/14 12:22am hola-soymilk:

apple polisher is a funny phrase
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 12:24am Wm.:

Better than "knob-polisher"! I don't DO that any more, my appreciation of women is purely aesthetic; I'm basically a black-metal monk.
  Wed. 4/23/14 12:28am Frenchy:

Zorn's label is the only thing that could tear me away from my elitist bs about loving underground punk/grindcore. Tzadik saved my life.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 4/23/14 12:36am hola-soymilk:

these are the best jams
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 12:37am Wm.:

Agreed. Telecult Powers, separate or together, rule the electronic jams. Part of a healthy MCoQ diet!
  Wed. 4/23/14 12:38am Frenchy:

Sounds like depressed Incredible String Band, I like it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 4/23/14 12:39am hola-soymilk:

this guy's voice reminds me of one of the residents songs but I can't think of which one
  Wed. 4/23/14 12:40am Frenchy:

@hola-soymilk duckstab era?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 4/23/14 12:42am hola-soymilk:

@frenchy the more I think of it, I think from the commercial album
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 4/23/14 12:43am hola-soymilk:

hahaha! why was zorn contro?
  Wed. 4/23/14 12:44am Frenchy:

Now i have to listen to the whole commercial album for the vocal similarities.

Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 4/23/14 12:45am hola-soymilk:

me too, frenchy :) I'm going to listen to duck stab too
  Wed. 4/23/14 12:45am Frenchy:

i hear phil from panera makes the best french loaf.
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 12:48am Wm.:

@ hola-soymilk I got an EYEROLL - not sure if that was for my Zorn comments or for complementing your eyes. Nonetheless, Zorn is a controversial character.
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 12:49am Wm.:

...If Phil worked at Panera, that would be hilarious! I can just see him in the little uniform. Or in his case, the big uniform, blowing bong hits by the dumpster out back on his break. ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 4/23/14 12:50am hola-soymilk:

oh I had no idea what that was even about ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  Wed. 4/23/14 12:57am microneezia:

when was it released?
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 1:00am Wm.:

Matt from Wretched Worst is a friend; I released a WW record on my label, so he sent me that tape, just last week. not sure when it was done- this year?
  Wed. 4/23/14 1:00am pseu:

Wm we are in the castle running from the ghosts!
  Wed. 4/23/14 1:01am Frenchy:

How can I buy this track/album Wm?
  Wed. 4/23/14 1:03am Frenchy:

If you aren't taking them for your label I want them for mine.
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 1:03am Wm.:

This playing now? Sorry, I have no idea. You might look up a gentleman named Matt Mckeever on Facebook and write to him; tell him you heard it on my show. Pretty sure he sent it with an order I placed with him. ...There is precious little info on the tape itself.
  Wed. 4/23/14 1:04am Frenchy:

Thank you! I will talk to him as soon as I make a Facebook acct.
  Wed. 4/23/14 1:06am Frenchy:

this track needs some beethovens 5th disco treatment
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 1:06am Wm.:

...to elaborate, as much as possible, I think it is a split tape between Last Years Life (which we heard) and Sunhillow, though I could not find it listed at the Sunhillow page @ Discogs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 4/23/14 1:07am hola-soymilk:

frenchy you're killing me
  Wed. 4/23/14 1:08am Frenchy:

understood, ty for the info Wm.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 4/23/14 1:10am hola-soymilk:

the worst part about this show is the tracks are hard to find after ;) and by worst I mean not too bad
  Wed. 4/23/14 1:11am microneezia:

ha, we've been trying to find these bands too, great show tonight, impossible to find tho
  Wed. 4/23/14 1:12am Frenchy:

@hola soymilk indeed! the only reason for labels to exist anymore is to enable others access to this material! start a label!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 4/23/14 1:12am hola-soymilk:

I tried looking up guilty feelings and all I got were ads about coping with depression
  Wed. 4/23/14 1:13am microneezia:

i couldnt find a single mention of them either
  Wed. 4/23/14 1:14am brycepunk:

Your show is amazing.. again. Always. One of the best, one of my favorites. I confess I use a lot of your songs in my own mixes when I have friends over.
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 1:14am Wm.:

I share all the info I have ...not trying for an exclusive.... Often self-released items are not very well-labeled. As far as Guilty Feelings, I would try writing to Matt of Wretched Worst via their bandcamp page; I think they may still have a MySpace, too.
  Wed. 4/23/14 1:14am Frenchy:

coping w/ depression is srs bizness
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 4/23/14 1:15am hola-soymilk:

ssris can help you cope with the depressions!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 4/23/14 1:15am hola-soymilk:

soooo these bands aren't available on spotify? ;) I'm being cheeky
  Wed. 4/23/14 1:16am Frenchy:

Wm, how many records/releases do u get to listen to b4 deciding on your playlist? WFMU must get a lot of great submissions.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 4/23/14 1:18am hola-soymilk:

whoa whoa whoa I'm in love with this song (I say this a lot)
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 1:18am Wm.:

Sheet, this sounds like Siouxsie, in the best-possible way. ... This show is about 75-80% my stuff and 20-25% WFMU library / new bin. Both sources are voluminous; WFMU's beyond all comprehension, it's intimidating.
  Wed. 4/23/14 1:21am Frenchy:

Whatever the volume, good choices, Wm!
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 1:22am Wm.:

cassette, mastered low- what're ya gonna do? ...
  Wed. 4/23/14 1:36am Frenchy:

What are your thoughts about Whitehouse, Wm? And/or early Psychic TV?
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 1:40am Wm.:

I like 'em both, select tracks from select records. My favorite Whitehouse is the early collab with NWW, the 150 Murderous Passions, where he just SHUTS UP about baby rape and such, and just plays. The best early Psychic TV is that Live Sweden LP. ...
  Wed. 4/23/14 1:42am Frenchy:

So you don't like Dreams Less Sweet? Now I'm looking up that live sweden lp on ebay...hope its not 200usd lol
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 1:44am Wm.:

Dreams Less Sweet is good; I had a friend's copy on loan for a while. I didn't feel the need to own it. I'm much less enamored of Gen's pop efforts than I am of his noise work, that said "Godstar" is an amazing song. Really, I prefer TG to any Psychic TV, to be perfectly honest. PTV are very hit-or-miss.
  Wed. 4/23/14 1:45am microneezia:

his best work is coum transmissions!
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 1:49am Wm.:

...uh, that stuff is too art-house wank for me, as is the collab with ATV, which I had high hopes for, being a huge ATV fan. There are many artists whose "fudging it," basement-tape work is better, just one opinion. ...
  Wed. 4/23/14 1:49am Frenchy:

Omg Godstar...great song for sure. If for no other reason than Genesis' obsessive nature is on full view. I own a lot of TG stuff on vinyl but didn't really get into it much until I heard Force The Hand...that was years after I got into "Blood on the floor" era stuff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 4/23/14 1:51am map:

Dreams Less Sweet is recorded in Holophonic. I didn't know this when I decided to listen to it the first time laying down with headphones. It was interesting.

But, yeah, the Singles comp is probably the most listenable Psychic TV though they have some good live recordings and other tracks throughout.
  Wed. 4/23/14 1:53am microneezia:

but he pioneered 2 girls one cup, by himself!
  Wed. 4/23/14 1:54am Frenchy:

Was very hard for me to get into Gen P's ouvre at first, but definitely Dreams was the easiest for me to start with
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 2:00am tracy:

  Wed. 4/23/14 2:00am Frenchy:

Omg. Wm, do you come from the same background as I? Grindcore/blastbeat was the only thing I listened to before. Is that where you started your journey as well?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 4/23/14 2:05am hola-soymilk:

Does everyone not listen to grind?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 4/23/14 2:05am hola-soymilk:

and by everyone I mean everyone in the US
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 2:05am Wm.:

@ Frenchy - I'm old, very old. Listened to Elton John as a pre-teen, then quickly sunk deep into Deep Purple, Black Sabbath and the like. Then punk happened and blew my mind- the NY stuff, the UK stuff, the LA stuff, everything. Then thrash, grind, SST, post-punk like Wire and Mission of Burma...then drones and minimalism, Krautrock, Frog Prog, Magma, etc. etc. etc. Into the 90s, black metal, lots of it. I've always loved experimental / industrial, since it was a really active genre in the mid-80s. So I've always been all over the music map. ...
  Wed. 4/23/14 2:08am Frenchy:

@Wm. well put and understood.
  Wed. 4/23/14 2:10am Frenchy:

@ hola-soymilk I thought everyone was into Grind also...apparently not.
  Wed. 4/23/14 2:12am Frenchy:

Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 4/23/14 2:17am hola-soymilk:

wait they're from IL? I googled them and all that came up was a myspace, is this them, Wm?
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 2:17am Wm.:

That horrible sound brought to you by the "great" cassette format. Two other basically irreplacable tapes got chewed in the record-library player. STOP PUTTING OUT TAPES! THE FORMAT EATS SHIT! ...I switched decks before this Fluisteraars tape was destroyed. I buy tapes ONLY because in many a case it's the only way to get some great music. But the format sucks, and should be left to die.
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 2:18am Wm.:

You mean Death Factory? It's Michael Krause, most definitely from Chicago.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 4/23/14 2:19am hola-soymilk:

haha maybe this is why I like it, I love crappy tapes
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 4/23/14 2:19am hola-soymilk:

ok good thing, the guys from chicago looked like DORKS
  Wed. 4/23/14 2:19am Frenchy:

I only release noises on tape, sry
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 2:21am Wm.:

Very few radio stations have good decks anymore. I buy rare tapes, and they get destroyed here. It's not practical; it's elitist, as in, "only certain, select individuals can own / hear my music."
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 2:22am Wm.:

I love crappy tapes, too, in a romantic sense, but from a DJ / radio standpoint, they are an aggravation. Too often, the internal mechanism fails.
  Wed. 4/23/14 2:22am Frenchy:

U are doing God's Work, Wm.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 4/23/14 2:24am hola-soymilk:

I have friends from Anal Blast if u want to talk to them for your show, Wm. Lemme know.
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 2:28am Wm.:

Sorry to rage, I'm just tired of having my rare / treasured purchases destroyed. I have a hi-end Sony deck at home, and some tapes drag or jam in that one, too. It depends on the blanks the artist or label uses; if they're crap, they won't last, and need to be dubbed to digital rip. Then there's the drop-outs. ...
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 2:29am Wm.:

Well, I don't like to do phone interviews, that's an awkward setup, HOWEVER, if they tour, I'd jump at the chance to have them on live. THANKS
  Wed. 4/23/14 2:29am Frenchy:

That's not raging, it's called taste, and you are a purveyor of taste!
  Wed. 4/23/14 2:31am Frenchy:

I will let them know!
Avatar Wed. 4/23/14 2:32am Wm.:

Well, thanks! I like to think I have a pretty good filter. When my noisehead pals give me shit about releasing / playing CDs, I say, "I'm in love with music, not formats." Anal Blast are awesome! I'd be totally into a live set!
  Wed. 4/23/14 2:34am Frenchy:

totally, are u into Brocken Moon at all?

that Death Factory myspace is really out of date . i haven't used it in over two years and i forgot the password. so im screwed to edit it. it even has a track on the player that isnt mine called "Fight" ?? what /how the fuck that got on there is a mystery. i use my facebook now under my own name as my current contact. with links to a blog and Discogs .
