So, the animation… Is it like the dog & cow are fighting, and ultimately not playing the music as a result?

Folks, getting some weird tone on 91.1FM in the last few moments. Sounded like a muffled fax machine or modem sound.
  Sat. 3/1/14 9:57pm LovecraftDude888:

that would be the Videodrome signal taking effect
Avatar    Sat. 3/1/14 9:58pm JakeGould:

Only happened twice. One short burst. Then a longer burst that ended when Faye was speaking. And wait, now it just happened twice again as I typed it. Is this Halloween III? Do I have to put my mask on?

Please Dude, I just had my ice cream
Avatar    Sat. 3/1/14 10:05pm Ken From Hyde Park:

DJs: Mention that WFMU doesn't repeat songs at the rate that commercial stations do. That drives me nuts.
Avatar    Sat. 3/1/14 10:06pm JakeGould:

@Ken from Hyde Park: “That Don’t Impress Me Much!”
Avatar    Sat. 3/1/14 10:08pm JakeGould:

Damned odd tone still happening. Am I the only one? 91.1FM in Brooklyn.
Avatar    Sat. 3/1/14 10:13pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@Jake - I meant that as a reason to pledge. Keep non-repeating WFMU on the air. Hearing the same song nine times a day is the part that drives me nuts.
Avatar    Sat. 3/1/14 10:14pm JakeGould:

Ken, I am joking… Except for the thing about the muffled tone that is happening again & again as I type this.
Avatar Sat. 3/1/14 10:14pm probablyjohn:

Fun fact: I am responsible for 1% of the Last.fm scrobbles of "I Won't Have to Think About You"

Avatar    Sat. 3/1/14 10:20pm Faye:

Santos, I love this album so much & I feel like it's unappreciated
Avatar Sat. 3/1/14 10:21pm dk:

"one of my fave superchunk tunes" is pretty much my reaction whenever a superchunk tune comes on.

and yeah, "here's where the strings come in" really doesn't get the attention it deserves.
  Sat. 3/1/14 10:22pm hamburglars 4 Last.fm:

so is that, you know, Wurster on drums?
Avatar Sat. 3/1/14 10:31pm probablyjohn:

Is there a "grand prize" tonight? I have not been paying attention very well.
Avatar    Sat. 3/1/14 10:32pm JakeGould:

That weird modem noise is happening again. :/
  Sat. 3/1/14 10:41pm herb.nyc:

Yep. Noise / static over fm stereo now. Fook!
     Sat. 3/1/14 10:43pm 12539:

Jake, I think that's what listener Ike refers to as the "supersonic hamster wheel" sound that's related to the backup transmitter.
Avatar    Sat. 3/1/14 10:43pm JakeGould:

It’s not static. It’s like a computer tone. Supersonic hamster wheel? Is that a steady tone? I think that’s it.
  Sat. 3/1/14 10:44pm van:

What? Faye?

HI!!
Avatar    Sat. 3/1/14 10:44pm Faye:

hi van!!!
Avatar    Sat. 3/1/14 10:46pm Mike Noble:

too bad that got cut off, a2 on that 7" is pretty good too
Avatar    Sat. 3/1/14 10:47pm JakeGould:

Faye, the noise. Do you folks know about it? On 91.1FM stereo. It is making the show hard to listen to.
Avatar Sat. 3/1/14 10:47pm Nardo:

Love Faye's show! LOVE IT!!!
Avatar    Sat. 3/1/14 10:49pm Snortley:

Jake - Where are you? The signal in Kensington, Brooklyn is very clear.
Avatar    Sat. 3/1/14 10:51pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Are there some pirates trying to broadcast on 91.1? I thought Station Manager Ken turned the main transmitter on this afternoon.
Avatar    Sat. 3/1/14 10:51pm JakeGould:

Bay Ridge. I can’t think of this being just me. When it’s clear it’s clear, but when it is in that tone noise it’s pretty bad. 100% cut-off. Drops to some weird modem-like tone.
  Sat. 3/1/14 10:54pm van:

Internet signal is pretty good :)
     Sat. 3/1/14 10:55pm 12539:

I think Brad Laner's mother painted several Medicine covers.
Avatar    Sat. 3/1/14 10:56pm Snortley:

Bay Ridge is toward the edge of the reception area, at least in my experience. That makes it easy for another signal to interfere, such as someone arc welding or some kind of electronic activity.
  Sat. 3/1/14 11:00pm van:

And that is a classic Woof-Moo graphic...looks oddly familiar :)
Avatar    Sat. 3/1/14 11:05pm Ken:

We are on the main transmitter now and it sounds fine to me. WHo is hearing noise on it and where are you located?
Avatar    Sat. 3/1/14 11:06pm Ken:

Is anybody besides Jake hearing this noise?
Avatar    Sat. 3/1/14 11:06pm Faye:

someone in JC was complaining to me earlier
  Sat. 3/1/14 11:07pm van:

All is well on the internet stream Ken
Avatar    Sat. 3/1/14 11:07pm Snortley:

It's fine here in the Prospect Park area, but Jake's getting noise farther south in Bay Ridge.
Avatar    Sat. 3/1/14 11:08pm JakeGould:

Ken, if it’s only me it would be shocking. But it seems that way. It’s not static or something like a normal cut in. But it is a completely drop off of the normal sounds of the program to a very even, modem, fax-like tone. Happened twice as I type it. I am in Bay Ridge. 11209 zip code if that means anything.
Avatar    Sat. 3/1/14 11:08pm Snortley:

Where the signal's weak, even electric motors can be a problem.
  Sat. 3/1/14 11:09pm van:

Now my internet stream is choppy. Off and on.
  Sat. 3/1/14 11:10pm van:

Okay, restarted Flash player and all is okay again on internet stream. That was very odd though.
Avatar Sat. 3/1/14 11:11pm tim:

それはあまりにもクレイジーです。心を失うことを余儀なくされた。
Avatar    Sat. 3/1/14 11:11pm Ken:

Jake, The signal seems perfectly fine everywhere else so I think you have some local interference in Bay Ridge
Avatar    Sat. 3/1/14 11:13pm JakeGould:

Snortley, would it be a 100% cut off if it was welding or a motor? This is 100% cut off when it happens. Very clear when it isn’t.
Sat. 3/1/14 11:13pm Karen in Sleepy Hollow:

The signal is great up here in Sleepy Hollow. Better than it has been in weeks.
Avatar Sat. 3/1/14 11:13pm Bryant:

We're all the way up in Sleepy Hollow and 91.1 sounds better than it has in weeks. As strong as I've ever heard it, as a matter of fact. We've got stereo and almost no background noise.
  Sat. 3/1/14 11:13pm van:

Congrats to Darcy! @#%#$%!#^ :)
Avatar    Sat. 3/1/14 11:14pm JakeGould:

Hey Ken, oh well. I appreciate your followup. I guess someone is doing something. I’m on the 4th floor of a building at a fairly high point in the neighborhood. So hey. Mayeb Blue Thunder is hovering overhead?
Avatar    Sat. 3/1/14 11:15pm Snortley:

If the interference signal is much stronger than the radio signal, you can lose the radio entirely, due to how tuners work selectively.
Avatar    Sat. 3/1/14 11:16pm JakeGould:

Thx. Snort.
  Sat. 3/1/14 11:21pm van:

Gotta go but was so wonderful to hear you again Faye! Miss you at your old time slot. And Brian, thanks also! Cheers!

  Sat. 3/1/14 11:36pm PJ:

I'm in South Brooklyn (11231), and I also get the intermittent break-ins by another station. The signal strength is the same as it's been all week (very poor, with tons of static.)

Avatar    Sat. 3/1/14 11:58pm pacific standard simon:

Gonna meet you on the financial plane...
Avatar    Sat. 3/1/14 11:58pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Use the dollars that exceeded the goal to pay for a couple more watts on the transmitter. That should clear up any static interruptions plaguing some listeners. That's how it works, right?
Avatar Sat. 3/1/14 11:59pm BadGuyZero:

Station Manager Ken restored one of the transmitters to full power earlier today.
Avatar Sun. 3/2/14 12:00am probablyjohn:

yeah, there definitely aren't any licensing restrictions or complicated interference requirements or anything, just put in some coins and turn it up!
Avatar    Sun. 3/2/14 12:00am JakeGould:

Ken should find a transmitter that works for love & respect instead.
