Hey you made one of those flash multiple image things, too. I'm going to have beg one of you guys to show me how you did that
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 11:40am Doug Schulkind:

Check your email, Gary.
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 11:47am Jeff Golick:

Yeah, I put the images into my Kludge-o-matic and voila.

Honestly, Gary, I think I just used the first thing that came up in a google search...

This radio show got a rave over on the Rotten Tatas-Matoes website!
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:09pm Carmichael:

I've arrived, and to prove it I'm here!
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:09pm Jeff Golick:

Hi, earrie! We going we going!
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:10pm Gary:

How have I never heard this Sly song before? It's great!
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:10pm Doug Schulkind:

No matter where you're at, Carmichael, there you are!
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:14pm listener james from westwood:

Great story, Jeff, and congrats to the lad!
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:14pm pacific standard simon:

I was wearing a monkey tonic T before I ever listened to the station -- a friend gave it to me for Xmas.
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:14pm earrie:

The black bridge-T travels well.
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:15pm Doug Schulkind:

All hail the freejazz mitzvah: D:O RADIO!
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:16pm Gary:

Nice shreds :)
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:17pm Jeff Golick:

A knowledgeable bar mitzvah guest likened my son's chanting to Ornette.
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:17pm Jeff Golick:

Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:18pm Jeff Golick:

Hi Carmichael -- there you are!
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:18pm pacific standard simon:

I guess that beats Albert Ayler!
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:19pm Jeff Golick:

Just a kind way of saying he couldn't find a key and stay in it. That's my boy!
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:20pm Jeff Golick:

1. LeRoi Jones' book BLACK MUSIC
2. Loderbauer & Villalobos 2CD Re:ECM
Pledge $15 and likely win!
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:21pm Andrew Waterloo:

This Ray Russell track is pretty god damned likable.
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:23pm pacific standard simon:

Going all mouse-y, so the D:O premium will be the star in my swag tiara.
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:25pm Jeff Golick:

Hey there, Andrew Waterloo! We agree, dammit!
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:26pm Doug Schulkind:

Knocking your list down to 7 premiums will be a headache.
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:26pm Jeff Golick:

@pss: You rule the school!
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:26pm Doug Schulkind:

Unless, of course, you just get 7 D:O Radio premiums!
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:28pm pacific standard simon:

Oh... there's some OTHER GTDR premiums on my short list...
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:28pm Andrew Waterloo:

12 will be a struggle. We need a German word to describe that feeling you get when you see an WFMU premium you know you're willing to pass up.
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:29pm Doug Schulkind:

Read more about the D:O Radio premium here: www.wfmu.org...
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:31pm Doug Schulkind:

If you've already pledged, now is a good time to consider UPPING your pledge. Add another 15 bucks to keep morale high and maybe (very likely) win a prize.
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:32pm earrie:

"zu vielen Möglichkeiten" ?
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:32pm Andrew Waterloo:

Speaking of the D:O premium, has everybody seen the all Sharrock episode of Space Ghost?
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:33pm Gary:

Holy crap, this is amazing
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:34pm Jeff Golick:

@earrie: Say what now?
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:35pm Jeff Golick:

Sharrock, on recording the Space Ghost theme: "Was that too melodic?"
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:35pm pacific standard simon:

Mogul kitten?
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:37pm Doug Schulkind:

How many shows do you thing there are on radio, commercial or non-commercial, around the country? I bet you can count them inside one mitten. Forgetting commercial broadcasting, everything instinct about PUBLIC, listener-sponsored radio says to run as fast as you can AWAY from music programming like this. "Challenging," "difficult," "unfamiliar," extended length," "atonal," "arhythmic" — it will drive listeners away, the consultants will tell you.

Please just support this. It's that's simple.

Use this pledge link to donate on behalf of D:O Radio: www.wfmu.org...
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:37pm Carmichael:

My next band will be called Mogul Kitten.
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:37pm pacific standard simon:

Paying for Station Manager Ken's tennis lessons....
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:40pm listener james from westwood:

PSS, the joke Andy Breckman made some years back was that Ken had a yacht named the U.S.S. Marathon.
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:41pm earrie:

Yeah, he sailed in on it after Hurricane Sandy.
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:43pm pacific standard simon:

I remember some of that kidding.
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:46pm Jeff Golick:

That's pretty funny.
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:46pm Doug Schulkind:

Recently, a DJ on the radio station at Case Western Reserve in Cleveland was thrown of the air because he refused to stop playing music that made some listeners think the station was malfunctioning! Despite the fact that the station's program guide says that it plays "adventurous music," the limits of that adventurousness seem pretty restrictive in comparison to outfits like WFMU and Give the Drummer Radio that believe sound is something to investigate, marvel at, and get freaked out by as well as enjoy.

Of course, if you enjoy music worth investigation, marveling upon and being freaked out by, well you have FOUND A HOME. Each of your pledges is another brick in the foundation of that home.

Please lay some bricks! www.wfmu.org...
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:48pm pacific standard simon:

What that guy said. KPFA in Berkeley used to play some pretty Out stuff in the '70s, but those days are long gone.
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:48pm Jeff Golick:

Ken recently mentioned how Andy Breckman "harvests the hatred" he has engendered among listeners during this time.

We, on the other hand, are looking to...uh..."license the love?"
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:48pm Andrew Waterloo:

It's fun when you think the equipment you're working on is malfunctioning and after tugging on a few wires you realize that it's just Bryce's show.
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:49pm earrie:

And no ads to ruin your day.
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:50pm earrie:

Radio to swear by, not at.
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:52pm Doug Schulkind:

Hey earrie, I hope no one's ever told you you're nosey.
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:53pm listener james from westwood:

Who could hate Andy? Besides Steve Martin for "Bilko." And Don McLean. Who I hear is an asshole.
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:53pm pacific standard simon:

Is it jazz? Is it rock? Is it classical? It's GOOD not to know.
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:56pm Uncle Michael:

Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:57pm earrie:

Hearing my runs of obscenities at crap com radio, some'd call me lippy.
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:58pm Brian in UK:

Winifred Attwell does not remind me of Bill Evans.
Hello folks.
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:58pm Andrew Waterloo:

That Gary Lucas album has a great cover of the theme song to Aguirre, The Wrath of God.
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:58pm Jeff Golick:

Hi, UM! I thanked you earlier, but let me thank you here, too.
Same goes for @pss and @Andrew Waterloo!!
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:58pm Uncle Michael:

You're welcome! Thank you!
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:59pm pacific standard simon:

I've been listening to Hal Blaine's Psychedelic Percussion lately -- pretty "out there" for a studio guy.
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:59pm fred:

Why hate Andy when one can soak him instead? I read that today is actually Andy's birthday
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:59pm Andrew Waterloo:

Thank you Jeff!
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 12:59pm Brian in UK:

Here she is.
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 1:05pm Jeff Golick:

Belated greetings, Brian in UK!
And how-do, fred!
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 1:05pm Jeff Golick:

@Andrew: yeah, Lucas hits the German masters pretty hard.
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 1:08pm Jeff Golick:

@Brian: queen of the keyboard, indeed. That wink she gives the camera is priceless. She's all, "I got this."
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 1:10pm Doug Schulkind:

Jeff, cast them prizes out there and see what's (who's) biting!
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 1:10pm Brian in UK:

Takes me back a few years Jeff. There was Winifred, Russ Conway & Mrs Mills. Loves it Olive Yek, yek, yek.
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 1:12pm Jeff Golick:

1. Nels Cline, DIRTY BABY 2CD set (w images by Ed Ruscha!)
3. Geoff Dyer's book, BUT BEAUTIFUL
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 1:12pm pacific standard simon:

That Nels Cline certainly IS a prize.
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 1:13pm Jeff Golick:

Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 1:15pm Stanley:

I'm in!
  Mon. 3/3/14 1:16pm Benny:

Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 1:20pm Stanley:

James Blood Ulmer - who else?
Gotta get this album.
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 1:21pm Brian in UK:

Feeling kinda cooped up here.
Just trying to egg you on.
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 1:21pm Doug Schulkind:

I just typed in Benny's comment over on Irene's playlist. I bet he's wondering why there was such a delay.

We love you, Benny!
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 1:22pm Brian in UK:

Bok Dylan
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 1:22pm Jeff Golick:

@Brian: You're the cock of the walk!
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 1:23pm Stanley:

Hi Brian
Bok Bok - it that the sound yer chickens make?
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 1:24pm Brian in UK:

They really sound like a crowd of old women arguing of how long is a piece of string at a whist drive.
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 1:25pm Doug Schulkind:

Down Under, the chickens go kob kob?
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 1:25pm Brian in UK:

Seriouly I think I need councelling and to have my plastic taken away from me.
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 1:27pm Brian in UK:

What was the name of the James Ulmer that came out around 1982ish. Great album.
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 1:28pm Stanley:

Glad to be in America?
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 1:28pm Doug Schulkind:

Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 1:36pm Jeff Golick:

The International Council of Reeds does good yard work, btw.
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 1:40pm Brian in UK:

Gaspar Lawal had a great album out in the Seventies (Ajomase) one track had a telephone ringing in middle of it. EVERYTIME I played it, I was caught out. I knew it was coming, still got me. Think I better go cook some dinner.
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 1:41pm earrie:

A great track among many that 'Sand Dancer'. Yeah!
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 1:41pm Stanley:

@Brian - I'm away from 18-31 March. So that means I'll only one messed up Saturday morning for me. Midweek, it'll mean I'll get to bed earlier. (Not that my life revolves entirely round WFMU)

Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 2:13pm Doug Schulkind:

D:O Radio is only six T-shirt size pledges (not even XXL shirts!) away from hitting the goal. Make a pledge, get a shirt, maybe win a slamming prize, and live with a clear conscience for the next year of Giving the Drummer Radio!
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 2:14pm Jeff Golick:

I think if hit 100% the cow and dog do a kicking version of "Who's On First?"
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 2:17pm Doug Schulkind:

This music is what passes for Top 40 on D:O Radio!
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 2:17pm Jeff Golick:

There's even sampling in there!
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 2:18pm Uncle Michael:

I wish there was an album of irreverent Mingus covers called "Mingus Schmingus."
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 2:19pm Gary:

So, killing
  Mon. 3/3/14 2:20pm Peter:

Hey, just joining the party now. Is there a "grand prize" today?

Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 2:29pm Doug Schulkind:

No animals were harmed (too terribly) during the making of this particular track.
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 2:30pm Jeff Golick:

...despite it being called "Hunted."
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 2:32pm Doug Schulkind:

This program is $113.27 away from reaching $1,000!! It would be a personal best! (I hope you don't mind me getting personal, Jeff.)

Two people pledging to get the D:O Radio marathon premium mix of untamed guitar magnificence (at least $75) will shove the show up and over this fast-approaching obstacle!!!

Pledge and get the D:O Radio premium: www.wfmu.org...
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 2:37pm Doug Schulkind:

I have never been much of a Pat Metheny fan, but his rant about Kenny G elevated the guitarist into one of my exalted pantheons for sure.

(1) Pledge to D:O Radio www.wfmu.org...

(2) Read this: www.jazzoasis.com...
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 2:38pm listener james from westwood:

Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 2:38pm Uncle Michael:

Holy mackerel. I had no idea Metheny really *is* on Jeff's premium.
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 2:38pm Jeff Golick:

Plus there's SONG X...
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 2:39pm listener james from westwood:

Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 2:41pm Jeff Golick:

That Metheny record: not one of his big sellers.
Avatar Mon. 3/3/14 2:42pm Brian in UK:
