Did you ever mail order stuff from RAW? Because if you did so from about 1989 to 1991 I most likely handled that order. I didn’t work for RAW but another comic place that handled fulfillment for them.

I tell you what I miss about NYC: the old Forbidden Planet #1...and also, buying underground comix at those weird headshops in the East or W. village....all long gone...Jake...I just mainly bought RAW on and off then they went to that digest size thing which I didn't like as much

West 4th? Village Comics had a few places. The first time I went to them was when they were literally right outside the subway station near the Waverly (now IFC) at the West 4th stop. Then they had a place on Thompson? Then one on the second floor of a place near Bleecker. I bought Fat Freddie’s cat from them when I was like 11 in 1979 from them on West 4th. My dad was with me. Still have them!

Also, as someone who has been good for my whole life & have the scars to show, I can tell you this: Being good is one thing. Knowing how to deal with not getting good back at you is another. Also lots of bad people are just basically sociopaths. So if your are nice & worry about being good to a bad person, that whole concept of “worrying about others” (aka: empathy) is just lost on bad folks. So screw them. Life is for the living.

@JakeG: to clarify, working on the walking away before toxicity sets in, not working on the dog poop washing away. Anyone who grew up in NYC in the days b4 the pooper-scooper laws and remembers how truly saturated the sidewalks were w/poop will retain a philosophical detachment from the dog poop question
- actually, any NYer who came of age in that era will always have a bit of Travis B in us. BUT in a good way, I promise
  11:42pm

P-90. Grew up in NYC in the 1970s. When Sarah Silverman talks about, “White dog poop of the 1970s…” I know exactly what she is talking about.

DUDE! So you know exactly where it's at. Its hard to explain sometimes to people who werent there just how much the landscape of the city has changed since then
  11:49pm
JakeGould:

P-90, also you know why the dog poop was white? Well, what happens when charcoal burns… It turns white… So guess what cheap dog food was filled with as filler. BOOM!

@JakeG: where'd you go to school in the ashen dogdoo days?

JakeGould:

Such nasty stuff. P-90, did your neighborhood have packs of dogs that would just wander. Mine did but I only remember that recently when reminiscing with friends. I dodged bullies & packs of dogs to go to school. Wow.

Brooklyn. Brighton Beach. You?

P-90:

I was in Manhattan, our wild dog packs were pretty much confined to Central Park

Dog poo here turns white because it grows nasty mold when left out in the soggy Northwest weather.

Thank you, Faye, looking forward to hearing you w/Trouble, you seem like kindred spirits in many ways
Have a good night

You had a palatial life compared to mine. The night thing about Brighton Beach is it was filled with junk stores, novelties & arcades. So being a kid was like being a hipster nowadays. So there was tons of minor escapes from the harsh daily realities.

OK, Brighton Beach, so you're not the Jake who used to sell dimes of Kind Bud on the Sheep Meadow

@P-90, the most illicit thing I did as a teen was copy Atari games as a minor pirate.

Yeah, de artsen... I remember hearing this (on fmu) when it came out, working in a basement in caldwell, nj, falling in love w/this song, and then never finding it.. But did I find out that they're most of Bettie Serveert? I feel like that's what happened.

Listened to this show again on a springlike day, even though there was snow on the ground.
