I've had to ford rivers, streams, rivulets. Cross ponds, lakes and seas, not to mention avoiding an occasional waterfall just to get around both Hoboken and the city...
Avatar Wed. 2/5/14 12:18pm Jshatan:

Remember when the Neptunes were super-futuristic producers and they had this one guy Pharrell who could sing the odd hook now and again? Yeah, those were the days.

Oh man, The Midnight Special...
  Wed. 2/5/14 12:51pm Darcy:

Avatar Wed. 2/5/14 2:10pm Jshatan:

This is now officially cracking me up - well done!
Avatar Wed. 2/5/14 2:11pm common:

@glenn and 67tele: that carpenter's tribute record is great. i love sonic youth's cover of superstar!
Avatar Wed. 2/5/14 2:12pm northguineahills:

I concur w/ glenn's statement.

When I was a kid in the summer of '85, there was compilation commercial that ran nearly non-stop, and all I remember is "Me and you and a dog named boo", although, since I suck at understanding lyrics, "I heard Me and you andoris".

It's been bothering me for nearly 29 years figuring out who did that song, and now, thanks to Duane, I know it's Lloyd Price.
Avatar Wed. 2/5/14 2:12pm glenn:

ummm. i can't remember off thew top of my head, but google says.....if i were a carpenter.

@northguineahills I'm glad there is someone else who can't hear lyrics worth a damn. I feel validated now. Was just listening to the screaming cracker neighbors through the door, of course it was unintelligible to me.

getting out my cigar.....
Avatar Wed. 2/5/14 2:35pm Jshatan:

Yeah, that Carole King demo was something special - Jan will attest that this may be the first and last time I would ever say that.
Avatar Wed. 2/5/14 2:36pm Whooda:

We need some background AM static and amplitude swings to make this a smores moment.
  Wed. 2/5/14 2:36pm chris:

All bringing back many memories: Fleetwood Mac, Jerry Rafferty, Al Stewart...what depressing music for a high school soundtrack...
Avatar Wed. 2/5/14 2:36pm Jshatan:

Poor Bob Welch...
Avatar Wed. 2/5/14 2:38pm Jan Audun Uretsky:

LOL Jeremy. Did you ever give her demos record listen?
  Wed. 2/5/14 2:38pm Jeremiah:

YESSSS
  Wed. 2/5/14 2:38pm chris:

I had to return and mention "When I need love..." It was everywhere, and so depressing
Avatar Wed. 2/5/14 2:39pm Duane:

chris: You will NOT hear "When i need love" in this corner of the 'FMU universe!

  Wed. 2/5/14 2:42pm chris:

Thank you!!!! I am hear working, thinking how lucky we were that pot was $15 an ounce at my high school-- I wouldn't be here today otherwise. BTW, I thought this was Steely down, too
Avatar Wed. 2/5/14 2:42pm northguineahills:

@whooda: Probably why I gravitated to foreign/instumental music, or music where the lyrics would be basically unintelligible when I was young.
  Wed. 2/5/14 2:43pm djelrock:

What about that song that goes: "Get Ready, Baby, Tonite, Darling. Gonna make this a night to remember." Or is it too 80's
Avatar Wed. 2/5/14 2:44pm Duane:

djelrock: Shalamar?/ yeah that's a great tune..almost too good..we're kinda stuck in that AOR/almost terribe,but good pocket
Avatar Wed. 2/5/14 2:45pm Whooda:

NGH now that lyrics are so easy to find I am resarching songs I never quite understood and then say to myself, "Oh, that's what they were singing...I wish I would have known that the last 20 years". Haha
  Wed. 2/5/14 2:47pm djelrock:

Yeah Shalamar! Got the same clap beat! Great tunes Duane.
Avatar Wed. 2/5/14 2:48pm Mike East:

so many of these songs remind me of working in a pizzaria or a sub shop.
Avatar Wed. 2/5/14 2:49pm northguineahills:

I remember being 5 years old in a Western Wear store singing at the top of lungs "Duval Duval County". to the actual song "ow-wa ow-wa Kitty, Tell us about the boy from New York City"., and some 20-year old kids started to make fun of me.
Avatar Wed. 2/5/14 2:49pm Duane:

Mike East: HAHAHAHA
Avatar Wed. 2/5/14 2:49pm efd:

Killing me with this "Lowdown" cover. This is like an alternate universe where I actually LIKE all the songs that were on the radio when I was in high school.

i'm scared of how relaxed this set is making me.
Avatar Wed. 2/5/14 2:50pm Jshatan:

No, I have not, Jan - is there an official demos album?
Avatar Wed. 2/5/14 2:51pm Stau:

efd. we DO love them, albeit for different reasons now. Embrace the pop simplicity
Avatar Wed. 2/5/14 2:51pm Whooda:

NGH I do hope you weren't doing the line dance moves and spaking yourself with one hand in the tack store.
