Yay for the Todd-o-phonia today, but I'm getting concerned that Terre T. hasn't been here for over a month now. She's not sick or something, right?

Shea Stadium vesion of I'm Down even surpasses the record, with fantastic elbow keyboard playing by J.W. Lennon. It's a rare glimpse iof the top-tier live band they must have been back in the days when they could actually hear themselves onstage.

Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 4:20pm

@Elliott Simon: All there seems to be pre-Beatlemania other than Star-Club in 1962 (The Milkshakes owe their existence to the Beatles' version of "Shimmy Like Kate") is the Cavern footage of "Some Other Guy" and "Kansas City." Well, that's why God gave us Bambi Kino! See them on February 8th at Union Hall, if you're local.

Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 4:43pm
Gaylord Fields:

@glenn: Nice job by Page, but he's no David Seville.

@Jeezy: Actually, it was recorded just short of his 23rd birthday. I would venture to guess he crooned "Yesterday" first and then commenced to shredding his tonsils on "I'm Down."
Avatar 4:44pm
glenn:

The track was recorded at Abbey Road Studios on 14 June 1965, immediately following the taping of "I'm Down", and four days before McCartney's 23rd birthday. There are conflicting accounts of how the song was recorded, the most quoted one being that McCartney recorded the song by himself, without bothering to involve the other band members.

"Clarabella" is a pop song composed by Frank Pingatore and recorded by the Jodimars (a group made of former members of Bill Haley & His Comets) in 1956. Today, it is best known for being recorded by the Beatles for the radio programme "Pop Go the Beatles" on 2 July 1963, which was broadcast on the 16th of that month. It was released commercially on compact disc much later, on the 1994 compilation album Live at the BBC, although years earlier a similar rendition by Billy Preston (who would later work with the Beatles on their later recordings) was performed on a 1965 episode of Shindig!. In 2003 the White Stripes recorded a performance of the song live in concert.
