Irwin, thank you for playing that Sugar Cubes song. Not only was I surprised and delighted to hear Bjork's mellifluous tones wafting gently from my hi-fi, but it reminded me that I have two plastic drinking straws in my purse, artifacts from last night's voice lesson, and I need to retrieve them and practice. Coincidentally, I'll be practicing "All of Me." Today is truly an amazing and serendipitous day.

I'd been stung/bitten dozens of times before without more than a little pain. Maybe my immune system was low at that time; Also, one wasp was pumping venom into the center of my calf for the entire duration of me carefully walking down a long flight of wet wooden stairs holding a heavy box of fragile, valuable items.

P-90, No: proximity effect noted at 4:06. His choice of pad or bed music also gives a JF episode its unique "color".

Yeah, that "proximity" is the absence of the usual strong compression, that makes his voice reminiscent of Bill Murray's brother Brian Doyle-Murray at the bottom of a natural gas well?
(If anyone remembers Brian D-M...who was actually little bit famous before Bill was famous at all.)
@Rabbit: col idea about JF "style periods," but I think this "work in progress" is a raw tape that he hasn't added the effect to...
@Droll: re: 4:54: not "it's" when possessive...ok Irwin fixed it.

B D-M was an early member of National Lampoon back in the LP days. His brother came along at the same time, but didn't get the good parts until much later. Christopher Guest and Richard Belzer (Law & Order) were involved early as well.

One of the easiest to find is by the Dresden Dolls. Brian V really tears into the drum part.

By the way, Irwin, do you have anything in front of you that says who the drummer on this session is?
  Wed. 1/29/14 5:20pm P-90:

Hey Carmichael! yeah Brian was actually one of the stars of the National Lampoon Radio Hour syndicated show before Bill even broke in. He wrote and performed a lot there, and wrote for the magazine and the NatLamp live touring shows, featuring Chevy Chase, John Belushi, etc (and Chris Guest, who also wrote a lot of stuff for the mag.) --let's see, so where did Lorne Michaels go when asked to produce a "hip" show for Saturday late nights? Hmmm...

P-90, I never understood why Chris Guest wasn't grabbed up along with the others by Lorne in 77. He didn't get onto the show until years later, and only for a short while. Something personal with him, I'm guessing. He was always my favorite of all of them.

Avatar Wed. 1/29/14 5:53pm Droll:

I've been stymied by parenthesis again -- they're used everywhere for everything:
paul mccartney & wings, band on the run, jet (original from picasso's last words) (background)/paul mccartney (dialogue link 7)/jet (original from picasso's last words) (background)/al coury (dialogue)

Very difficult to get the "intended" enumeration of song names with parenthesis.
Avatar    Wed. 1/29/14 5:54pm rrg:

All this junk appears in the song titles themselves, you mean?

Yeah, that would make it harder.

[Sobbing uselessly] Arden, don't listen to Grampa Irwin! Society needs to stop stealing from musicians. It's not okay to steal from the people who fundamentally change and inspire our lives. You deserve to be paid! Musician is an honorable, skilled profession!

Until then, remember it's called "playing" for a reason. I want to hear you smiling on your next record, too.
