With all due respect, I think Steve Smith does the smoothest drum roll. Seamless single to double stroke changeover. Absolute stick control. Even sounds the same one handed.

I'm actually not familiar to Jazz at all, Simon - But I used to listen to Thelonious Monk a lot. I liked that it sounded to me like an alert sound from a broken railroad crossing or something (although I don't know what it sounds like in the US... was thinking about the ones in Tokyo)

Thank you, P-90!! I hope some jazz musicians with a bit weird nervous systems driven by some fungi in their brain will ask me to do covers for them.
Avatar 11:03pm
Droll:

Not my definition -- use Wikipedia to define "define". It's turtles all the way down.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:03pm
pacific standard simon:

"properties of replication and metabolism" -- now it gets interesting. If you've had yourself sterilized, do you still have the property of replication? Or is that nit-picking? And does a sun have a metabolism? I tend to think so.

If this was a prized LP in DM's childhood household, I regret not having grown up there.
Avatar 11:09pm
David L.B. is RRN63:

- if you're sterilized & still alive, your cells are still replicating w/in you (you are still growing - & constantly dying as well!)
...It *is* turtles all the way down - because things are not really finite - they are infinite: defining - making finite - giving something boundaries or an end (a fine) - is sort-of arbitrary, but agreed upon to have terms for thought & therefore speech. Games are all about Rules - & agreeing on them to Play. In Philosophical discussions - the 1st thing you always have to do is define terms to see if you're even talking about the same thing(s) 1st. What is 'Alive' & what is Not is deffo wunna the big ones !...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:10pm

May I just interject a statement that I find this shortening of Dave Mandl's show extremely annoying, and clearly a sign of the end times?

Yes, It's like vacating the hour of 9-10pm. The worst part is I like having Blumin's show back and it's a good bridge to WoE. They should both be 3 hours. And, of course, Bethany needs 3 hours because the music is long-form.
  11:36pm

OMG you were correct too...
I forgot, it WAS in response to a lecture on astronomy by Russel that the lady said: That was bullshit, Earth is resting on a flat plate, that rests on the backs of four huge elephants, that stand on the back of a giant turtle.
