@ you guys: WHY is it always on the Friday night-into-Saturday morning comments boards that these epic conversations about food and eating happen, and being very suggestible where food is concerned, I wind up with gnawing cravings for burritos or Zagnuts or whatever else I don't have on hand? What is it about this particular time of the week? Jeez. It IS a repeating pattern....

#kenzo: if there was a dedicated food-topic room, I would compulsively check it out, and wind up being unable to think about anything but the goodies being mentioned. I know it happens often, but there IS something about late Fri. eve into wee hours Sat, there's always a lot if food talk. It starts innocently enough with cries of "pizza!", and by the time Bill Mac is on there's talk about sirloin this and shrimp scampi that. And baklava and knishes etc. And Revolution Rabbit's favorite Cheetos pie recipe...

If I read you correctly, by playing a massively popular song at slow speed, you are sending a coded message to your listeners that your intent is to subvert bourgeois culture by attacking one of it's sacred symbols.

re: Move BBC sessions
When I snagged that CD back in the '90s, I was glad to see it filled with a lot of covers that they never cut in the studio (they didn't need to, really). The version of "Goin' Back" (taken from the Byrds) was particularly interesting.

I think I remember SIN from LA in the 80's when I was in high school there. I didn' t see them myself but they played clubs like the Troubador on the Sunset Strip on long bills of similar bands. Opened once for Odin, maybe. Had friends more into that scene than I was...

But I do remember when Van Halen was a local band that stuck flyers for their shows under your windshield wipers in Hollywood parking lots.

Last Friday night was movie night at La Casa Parq, but I caught up on the archives. Dug the segue from Gabriel to Wyatt. Oh, and the retooled Fleetwood reminded me of an old late-70s gag that involved playing the LP track of Atlanta Rhythm Section's "Imaginary Lover" at 45 and noting that the results sounded like a semi-uptempo cover by Stevie Nicks.
