A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Loretta Lynn carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

Hi Trouble!
Avatar Tue. 1/7/14 9:04am doca:

Morning, Trouble! Today's artwork really matches the music now playing

Sun, rise!
Avatar Tue. 1/7/14 9:05am Trouble:

i always misspell fuch-sia ( fuschia) so the page needs to be refreshed to get the real fuchsia effect. 2014 a whole new year free of typing errors!!
Avatar Tue. 1/7/14 9:07am doca:

I always misread Fursaxa as fuchsia or something alike.
Avatar Tue. 1/7/14 9:08am duke:

Good morning Trouble and troublers
Avatar Tue. 1/7/14 9:10am Trouble:

doca we are looking for a full frontal assault on your senses today!
Avatar Tue. 1/7/14 9:11am doca:

The cool thing about that Light in the Attic compilation is to get rid of the bad aspects of the New Age label and making it clear how things created by that "spirit" are all over today's music, even pop music (as this Blake tune shows).
Avatar Tue. 1/7/14 9:13am doca:

@Trouble: letters, colors and sounds? I didn't know you were a multimedia DJ!
Avatar Tue. 1/7/14 9:13am Guido (Cologne):

I never will stop making embarrassing misreadings and stupid typos.
Avatar Tue. 1/7/14 9:16am Trouble:

exactly doca, AND anything light in the attic touches turns to gold!
Avatar Tue. 1/7/14 9:16am doca:

@Guido: Have you seen this? Speaking of embarrassing cheesy German songs, but this at least is intentionally cheesy

Avatar Tue. 1/7/14 9:17am Guido (Cologne):

can this "jane"-track be an outtake by a LP by "Jane & Barton"?
i remember the song somehow and just as I see Cherry Red ...
... that was a cut-out-buy back in the mid 80ies ...
Avatar Tue. 1/7/14 9:17am Trouble:

today's gorgeous artwork is by petros sianos!
Avatar Tue. 1/7/14 9:25am Guido (Cologne):

@doca
Old GDR novelty.
Early GDR-Nina hagen made similar comedy stuff.
It's about the weather ...
... summer vacation at the Baltic Sea (the guys all dressed in winter-fur) ... "it's all great here, why shall we go to the Black Sea?" (Gregoria and krimea were among the most exclusive and sunny vacation destinations.
Avatar Tue. 1/7/14 9:25am Guido (Cologne):

... in the eastern block.
Avatar Tue. 1/7/14 9:28am doca:

@Guido: Yeah, I saw it is old DDR stuff, just a little bit of ostalgie, I guess. When I fist watched it was one of the most nonsense things I've ever seen.
Avatar Tue. 1/7/14 9:28am Guido (Cologne):

Found it: Jane & Barton - 1983

Avatar Tue. 1/7/14 9:29am northguineahills:

dig the art. I'd want it as a tee-shirt (that's a compliment).
Avatar Tue. 1/7/14 9:31am Guido (Cologne):

It's not nonsense, it's satire!
and it#s not ostalgie, it's real old 80ies GDR.
Avatar Tue. 1/7/14 9:33am northguineahills:

It was 3F/-16C this morning here in Brooklyn when I woke up. I think it's been colder maybe 4 mornings in the last 13 years I've been here.

- What Climatologists predicted w/ higher temperatures & melting ice (higher sea levels & more water in the atmosphere)
- was fewer storms - but larger ones.
- So - what have *your* news reports shown - ??
- Climate is a Complex & Chaotic System that is hard to predict all right - so why should that mean it can't be altered &/or the results of doing so wouldn't be serious? In fact, Chaotic Systems are *sensitive* to changes in input - especially over time...
Avatar Tue. 1/7/14 10:43am Trouble:

that is a sweet park, thanks for the link brian!
Avatar Tue. 1/7/14 10:46am Andrew Waterloo:

Not really larger storms but more severe weather. This isn't beyond the basic weather we learned in elementary school.
Avatar Tue. 1/7/14 10:47am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

They've certainly been larger storms in N'Orleans, Vermont, New Jersey/NY, Tornado Alley in the MidWest, the Philippines...
Avatar Tue. 1/7/14 10:49am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- & yet Fewer - that's right ! Texas got a little dry there as well...

Avatar Tue. 1/7/14 11:02am Vivian:

Trouble, how are your chickens doing in this cold weather?
  Tue. 1/7/14 11:02am Bill W:

The Right Stuff is probably my second-favorite Philip Kaufman film next to his terrific New Age remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Unbearable Lightness of Being is a pretty decent adaptation too.
  Tue. 1/7/14 11:04am Nardo:

without googling, I believe Kaufman did Henry and June, which was one of the first NC-17 films. I think the horror film he did was the remake if Invasion of The Body Snatchers
Avatar Tue. 1/7/14 11:04am bobdoesthings:

Suzuki Junzo!! awesome!
Avatar Tue. 1/7/14 11:09am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

The Astronauts were Military Jock deathwish testpilot types - I got mixed feelings about them & the whole enterprise - but definite nostalgia for the Space Race in my youth, & it's obvious & strong Metaphorical correlation to the Psychedelic &/or Consciousness Movement(s) & such...The film is its' own thing, of course.
Avatar Tue. 1/7/14 11:09am Chris from DC:

The Cellar Door was a bit before my time, but it must have been cool to see Neil in that small room.
Avatar Tue. 1/7/14 11:09am Guido (Cologne):

puuuuh ... he has trouble to keep the note ... much too often I have problems to hear Neil Young sing. Loved the Buffalo Springfield version.
Avatar Tue. 1/7/14 11:10am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- nice pairings Troub...
Avatar Tue. 1/7/14 11:13am common:

love invasion of the body snatchers. i'm wearing a shirt my friend airbrushed. an image of donald sutherland screaming from the end of that flick. brilliant!
Avatar Tue. 1/7/14 11:15am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- Neil Young is epileptic & calls himself 'Shaky' - if that has anything to do w/ it. Not that your wrong exactly - but I'm inclined to credit him w/ digging deep & using the instrument he has ?
- kewl common!
Avatar Tue. 1/7/14 11:17am northguineahills:

Been wiping my pepper and chili plants of aphids and mealybugs. Since I've brought the plants inside, there are no natural predators, so the parasites have exploded.

That Buffalo Springfield box is awesome!
Avatar Tue. 1/7/14 11:19am Guido (Cologne):

I don't blame Neil.
I have some solo performances from early 70ies which work good.

... in doupt the second Springfield is the must-have.
Avatar Tue. 1/7/14 11:19am Priscilla:

@northguineahills: I've been fighting spider mites on all my indoor plants for years. I mist them a lot :-(
Avatar Tue. 1/7/14 11:22am Guido (Cologne):

Concerning Buffalo Springfield:
Could it be that they only somewhat ridiculous band photos?
Pulling faces, funny gestures and stuff?
Anyone knows something about that?
Avatar Tue. 1/7/14 11:23am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Michael: Thx for Link! - maybe it's just that Neil & I are both ♏Scorpios ; ) ...in keeping w/ the arthropod turn of convo. ...
Avatar Tue. 1/7/14 11:26am northguineahills:

My all year indoor plants are either succulents, palms, or waxy, so they can't attack them. I wish I had a ladybug farm to take care of the parasites. The usual organic sprays I use are a bit too fragrant for me to use indoors.
Avatar Tue. 1/7/14 11:27am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- interesting question Guido considering they looked pretty striking w/ those sideburns & suede fringe & all...I think posing all the time would be hard for me to take seriously...
