You see a blanket on the ground. It's your favorite color, smooth and soft. You can sit on it, or lie on it. It's a flying blanket, and you are the pilot. You are in control. You can fly anywhere you wish, just by thinking about it. You are the pilot.

Avatar    Mon. 12/23/13 9:08pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...oh - to be in a band doing something like this...
  Mon. 12/23/13 9:11pm PB:

Thank goodness, looks like we wont be subjected to yet another Christmas show
Avatar    Mon. 12/23/13 9:12pm JakeGould:

What? You don’t want to hear the Kinks yammer about Father Christmas?
Avatar    Mon. 12/23/13 9:13pm ranjit:

I do!

Also I want to like this marquee moon but it goes on too long.
  Mon. 12/23/13 9:14pm PB:

Ever the contrarian, I preferred the Television "reunion" album to Marquee Moon but do think Marquee Moon was also a great album.
Avatar    Mon. 12/23/13 9:17pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- can I just say - another option besides Xmas stuff is indeed *very* *very* much appreciated ?? (Altho' that Kinks song is a fave.)
Avatar    Mon. 12/23/13 9:17pm the glowing one:

It sounds like a punk band tried to make a prog rock song, while they failed at that, the result was still a something.
Avatar    Mon. 12/23/13 9:19pm the glowing one:

I have a custom DSP preset in my player I named "Earth at normal speed"

I'm surprised that I haven't heard any Festivus songs today.

2 notes and you know it's Hendrix.
Avatar Mon. 12/23/13 9:41pm handtool quilting:

I always have to stop and listen as if someone were speaking when listening to this grade of Hendrix. Really can't get much else done unless I turn off the radio.
Avatar Mon. 12/23/13 9:41pm Dan Bodah:

@PB, absolutely. There is no replicating the man.

3 notes and you know it's robin trower.
Avatar Mon. 12/23/13 10:02pm I discovered sliced bread:

Hah! @glenn back in Jr. High school I would get into arguments with my passengers trying to convince them my Robin Trower cassette was NOT Jimmy Hendrix.
Avatar    Mon. 12/23/13 10:03pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

I would stand up for both Jimi's exceptionalism & Trower's worthiness.
- & this whole show has been pretty bitchin'.
  Mon. 12/23/13 10:15pm mb:

I only caught the end of that Espers jam, but damn if it didn't sound like Traffic on acid, if that's not too redundant.
Avatar    Mon. 12/23/13 10:17pm JakeGould:

Robin Trower debates. Where else BUT HERE!
  Mon. 12/23/13 10:20pm PB:

DB, I think you meant Loggins & Messina.

hate hall and oates. love live at darryl's house.
Avatar    Mon. 12/23/13 10:31pm JakeGould:

The thing about Hall & Oates is they have a few really amazing singles… Then there’s the rest of it.
Avatar    Mon. 12/23/13 10:32pm glenn:

and also, apparently john oates is a raving psychopath.
Avatar Mon. 12/23/13 10:33pm sticky buns:

I'm glad Oats found a second life and new venue for his brand but my love for the show is in direct reverse-proportion to suffering his ego.
Avatar Mon. 12/23/13 10:38pm Dan Bodah:

OK, so Darryl Hall and Robert Fripp did a record together called Sacred Songs at the height of Hall's Crowleyan period. I'm Out of Touch!
  Mon. 12/23/13 10:40pm Sean B.:

Avatar    Mon. 12/23/13 10:43pm glenn:

wikipedia says it was recorded in '77, and released in '80.

...The Philly character on the last Best Show was going on about that album !...
Avatar Mon. 12/23/13 10:45pm Dan Bodah:

Yeah, Sacred Songs was released, I have it right here.
Avatar    Mon. 12/23/13 10:46pm Santos L Halper:

When i was home for Thanksgiving I brought back 4 LPs from back in the day. One was Tiger Mt. (after hearing The True Wheel regularly here) and one was Sacred Songs. Haven't heard that in forever, so i can't vouch for it; it's up next to listen to...
Avatar    Mon. 12/23/13 10:47pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Someone told me about Daryl's House, & it sounded like a good idea (like what Levon Helms was doing??) - but I went top the Site & - none of the artists interested me much. Am I wrong??
- I knew Hall was into Astrology, being an enthusiast myself. Apparently there's more...
Avatar    Mon. 12/23/13 10:49pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...to the site...
...Levon Helm...
Avatar    Mon. 12/23/13 10:52pm glenn:

nah. it's a good show. my fave episode is the one where they go to todd rundgren's house in hawaii.
Avatar    Mon. 12/23/13 10:53pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Oh - Todd.
Avatar    Mon. 12/23/13 10:53pm Santos L Halper:

@ glenn Right on, Would love to attend one of Todd's luausl
Avatar Mon. 12/23/13 10:53pm kabuki scentymint:

Ipm not sure how the guest muscians for Daryl's House are chosen, I suspect that Hall senses some personal benefit (besides viewership) like sex or whatever. Some guests have shown reluctance to participate and who knows how many decline the invitation. I am interested in the cooking segments of the show, though instead there is a veneer of being informative while appearing nothing but "look how good we eat!"
Avatar    Mon. 12/23/13 10:55pm glenn:

you mean he didn't have k.t. tumstall on for her songs?
Avatar Mon. 12/23/13 10:55pm bad carlos:

If there was ever an Alistar Crowley fan I would bet it was Todd Rundgren.
Avatar    Mon. 12/23/13 10:56pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...I care not for Sport - & whilst sitting too often @ the Local, watching several endless screens of it
...I have thot - why not the Dishwashing Channel - ?? : It would be to help bachelors face the drudgery of dishwashing. Feature a hot chick dishwashing. Stand-up comedians. The Dishwashing cam inside the dishwasher or sink. Thoroughly as interesting as Sport...
Avatar    Mon. 12/23/13 10:57pm Santos L Halper:

@bad carlos Todd is a wizard after all (and a true star)
Avatar Mon. 12/23/13 10:59pm Faulty Foot Buffer:

@glenn Last Saturday night was a show with a woman drummer and male vocalist. I watch with the sound off so I don't know who they were but Hall looked like he was going to go off in his jeans over her. She looks just like Debra Messing.
Avatar    Mon. 12/23/13 11:00pm glenn:

because (and it's ridiculously obvious, when you think about it) sports is the only thing (except for porn, i guess, but you won't be watching that in your neighbourhood local) that you can watch without sound.
Avatar    Mon. 12/23/13 11:01pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- what about cartoons - ?!?...
Avatar    Mon. 12/23/13 11:02pm glenn:

bugs bunny is all about the dialogue.
Avatar Mon. 12/23/13 11:04pm raku glaze fire:

If mainstream news is broadcast, I watch that with no sound. Otherwise I get furious at all the propaganda and lies.
Avatar    Mon. 12/23/13 11:04pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...My other big publurking brainstorm was :
...Why not have an interactive option on the remote you could have the guys from MysteryScienceTheater3000 pop up - no matter what you were watching - on any channel - & talk funny smack about it - ?! It'd be like Subtitles, but Funny. I'd call it Snubtitles.
Avatar Mon. 12/23/13 11:07pm Pauli Ethylene:

#RRN Snubtiltles. I love it! Kind of like the Obama and the 'in your face Obama" by the black guy duo on cable.
Avatar    Mon. 12/23/13 11:08pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...also: They never show Cheerleaders long enuff. That's the only part I like. & on one channel they have 'Shark Week'. That's kinda kewl. Why not a Cheerleaders Vs. Sharks Channel - ??

or Cheernado

...see - I'm willing to work w/ what they already have on there...
  Mon. 12/23/13 11:24pm C in Thailand:

I'm late on the Hall & Oates conversation. I don't know Sacred Songs but Fripp plays with H&O "Don't Blame It Love" off of Along the Red Ledge... it's a good song. George Harrison also plays guitar on a song (not so good) and I think Todd Rundgren appears on most of the tracks.
  Mon. 12/23/13 11:32pm lulu:

Yes! I love this. Dance dance dance
  Mon. 12/23/13 11:38pm bill:
