I never miscue a record. I am punctual, well-prepared, and dislike clutter. Outgoing and helpful, I'm always appropriately dressed. I do not behave erratically and have excellent penmanship. My CD's never skip, and I am in good health. I like all the notes, in any order.

Avatar    Fri. 12/13/13 12:23pm Richard Nixon:

@βrian, had to google that one. Where are you that is so lugubrious?

Avatar    Fri. 12/13/13 12:26pm Richard Nixon:

Bryce, I'm terribly sorry to tell you that my bird is dead.
Avatar    Fri. 12/13/13 12:28pm Bryce:

is that true?
Avatar    Fri. 12/13/13 12:30pm tim from champaign:

Bryce, is there a Santa Claus?
Avatar    Fri. 12/13/13 12:32pm Richard Nixon:

It is. I actually accidentally killed my little friend. Was cleaning her cage and she got out. She was pretty easy to catch since she's never been able to fly more than a foot or so but she went into shock as I carried her back to her cage. We're very sad in our house. She had many nicknames. 'Twiglet' was my favorite.
Avatar    Fri. 12/13/13 12:36pm Bryce:

:(
Avatar    Fri. 12/13/13 12:36pm Bryce:

i'm so sorry.

The track!
Deeeep. Wow, Impressed.
Avatar    Fri. 12/13/13 12:39pm Carmichael:

Hi Bryce. I'm wearing a tie so the music will sound better.
Avatar    Fri. 12/13/13 12:40pm common:

sorry about your bird friend, richard.
Avatar    Fri. 12/13/13 12:41pm tim from champaign:

Me too, Richard. Pets are good friends.
Avatar    Fri. 12/13/13 12:41pm Brian in UK:

Carmichael, just a tie?
Avatar    Fri. 12/13/13 12:42pm Looms:

Bomp Ding Bowooow Hik Tink Hello!
Avatar    Fri. 12/13/13 12:43pm Brian in UK:

Hey Looms, is it as miserable weather over your side of La Manche as it is here?
Avatar    Fri. 12/13/13 12:46pm Carmichael:

That's it, Brian. The music sounds better, but a little colder as well.
Avatar    Fri. 12/13/13 12:47pm Richard Nixon:

This is the first time I've listened to your show since her death. I could never tell if she loved it or hated it but she was quite vocal about it either way.
Avatar    Fri. 12/13/13 12:47pm Looms:

Hi Brian! A bit rainy/foggy but not too cold here; and a nice december weather ahead for tomorrow.
Avatar    Fri. 12/13/13 12:48pm Bryce:

:)
Avatar    Fri. 12/13/13 12:53pm Richard Nixon:

I'm not wearing a tie (I don't even own one) but I am dressing for my company's holiday party so I am a bit more dressy than I normally get. And, yes, it does make the music sound better.
Avatar    Fri. 12/13/13 12:55pm Chris from DC:

Good stuff to get through the day til beersies and Goblin later.
Avatar    Fri. 12/13/13 12:55pm Bryce:

something had better!
Avatar    Fri. 12/13/13 12:56pm BDR:

Now Karkowski: www.spin.com... What is it with Fridays?
Avatar    Fri. 12/13/13 12:57pm common:

beersies, Chris. Yep. And Goblin!
Avatar    Fri. 12/13/13 12:57pm Richard Nixon:

I think next week we should all get dressed up for Bryces show. Make it sort of a formal event. It sure makes the music sound better. Any takers?
Avatar    Fri. 12/13/13 12:58pm Bryce:

I know......karkowski's up next.

didn't have time to put together a whole show. next week.
Avatar    Fri. 12/13/13 12:59pm Droll:

[gets dressed up and tests the theory]
It does make Bryce's sound better, but it's still not classy like A440. Bethany packs more class into one hour than Bryce puts in three hours, even wearing a clip-on tie.
Avatar    Fri. 12/13/13 1:00pm Richard Nixon:

Bryce you could do a memorial service for Twiglet and Karkowski. We'll all get dressed up.
Avatar    Fri. 12/13/13 1:02pm tim from champaign:

I'm not familiar with Karkowski. I like the quote used in the article. Deep thinking.
Avatar    Fri. 12/13/13 1:06pm Chris from DC:

Thanks for the (upcoming) Karkowski. RIP.
Avatar    Fri. 12/13/13 1:12pm Cheri Pi:

RIP ZK :(
Avatar    Fri. 12/13/13 1:14pm Bryce:

my pleasure, Chris! i wish it weren't the middle of the work day here. his music wants to move furniture around.
  Fri. 12/13/13 1:18pm nic:

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! great thx !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
     Fri. 12/13/13 1:18pm fascinoma:

hi all
Avatar    Fri. 12/13/13 1:19pm Ike:

My boss seems to be out for the day (hence my commenting without being automatically decapitated), so I guess I *could* get up and move some furniture around. That might also warm me up a bit. But this piece doesn't seem to call for it.
Avatar    Fri. 12/13/13 1:23pm YETI BOB:

this might be good, this might be bad. perhaps brilliant. i don't know, i have no framework to judge it. it's awfully hard to listen to though.
Avatar    Fri. 12/13/13 1:25pm YETI BOB:

really enjoyed the 1975 improv.
Avatar    Fri. 12/13/13 1:27pm jamesie:

my dog is cowering in the corner
Avatar    Fri. 12/13/13 1:29pm common:

my co-worker thought my computer was about to explode.
Avatar    Fri. 12/13/13 1:29pm YETI BOB:

ike: i don't think it's supposed to make *you* move furniture around. i think the idea is that you play it loud enough that chunks of plaster start falling from the ceiling, chairs and tables vibrate across the floor, etc.

jamesie: me too.
Avatar    Fri. 12/13/13 1:30pm YETI BOB:

(me, not my dog)
Avatar    Fri. 12/13/13 1:32pm βrian:

This sounds, like, *totally* cold war to me.
Avatar    Fri. 12/13/13 1:34pm Bryce:

to my ears, karkowski's music is just beautiful and transcendent. it's meant to be all-consuming. i find myself so quickly drawn in and carried to the along to the center.

RIP
Avatar    Fri. 12/13/13 1:34pm Droll:

My ceiling is cowering in the corner. But I think it's supposed to do that.
Avatar    Fri. 12/13/13 1:35pm Fyddlestiks:

I KNEWS IT. I AM PSYCHIC! I
Avatar    Fri. 12/13/13 1:36pm Chop Scott:

Thanks Bryce--- Zbig RIP

bryce: i mean no disrespect to the late composer, and i'm certainly learning something from your show. thanks.
  Fri. 12/13/13 1:38pm emmagineering:

really enjoying this roaring buzzy ominous drone thAaang, bryce. thanks!

Avatar    Fri. 12/13/13 1:45pm Ike:

@Yeti Bob@1:29, yeah, that occurred to me after I typed my dumb comment. Nice imagery, wish I could do that. As soon as my co-worker steps out for a phone call, this ceiling is going DOWN!
Avatar    Fri. 12/13/13 1:46pm steve:

hey all. RIP ZK. saw ZK's at a noise fest in the 2000s and ZK's laptop was maybe the loudest thing of the whole event. i still remember it vividly. so glad i got to see him.
Avatar    Fri. 12/13/13 1:48pm Bryce:

oh cool!

i know, that experience is so not possible to capture and reproduce with two stereo speakers...
Avatar    Fri. 12/13/13 1:49pm Chris from DC:

He was great live, yeah. I remember the subwoofer smoking during his set.
Avatar    Fri. 12/13/13 1:49pm Flan nugget:

I cut my speakers in eight pieces to better replicate the experience.
     Fri. 12/13/13 1:51pm fascinoma:

any info on the production of the track, bryce? curious about the relevance of the title.
Avatar    Fri. 12/13/13 1:53pm common:

chris: that's great!

This piece is absolutly awesome.

Me too, Fasc, doesn't seem like it though. Getting checked out soon anyway.
Avatar    Fri. 12/13/13 2:03pm tim from champaign:

Bryce, how did you come about developing your knowledge of modern music? Every week I'm blown away with what you play and rarely am I already familiar with it.
     Fri. 12/13/13 2:04pm fascinoma:

ah, EVP...

have ya'll read Kittler on the cultural history of the gramophone?
     Fri. 12/13/13 2:12pm fascinoma:

glad to hear that, Chris. it's good to be able to choose *when* you get your dose of nearly supersonic whining.
Avatar    Fri. 12/13/13 2:18pm Bryce:

tim, can't claim to Know much, just been hanging around here forever, around people who are, like, "oh, you might like this!"

and brian turner keeps the new bin filled with amazing goodies. all i have to do is hit the button!
Avatar    Fri. 12/13/13 2:18pm Chris from DC:

I hope you're not speaking from experience.
     Fri. 12/13/13 2:27pm fascinoma:

@Chris sadly, no. did some damage a while back but luckily it faded after a few months. required making peace with my own neurological inputs and left me with a healthy appreciation for noise, tbqh
Avatar    Fri. 12/13/13 2:55pm Chris from DC:

Great show Bryce.
