This is great. They could go so many places with this. Awesome if they did a set of variations, like different songs--I had no idea that was bed music!

Agreed with Fab on the Chris Burden show. Go see it. His current artwork is less jarring but still intense.

this is great workout music
  Thu. 10/17/13 4:40pm dc waters:

When did it become common practice for one to apologize for making a pun? Fabio make think it's the lowest form of humor, but remember, he gets strength through failure.

I love it when icy winds blow the middle of my music.

Avatar Thu. 10/17/13 4:41pm tim from champaign:

Zing! Surprisingly Burden never attempted to have himself sealed up in a can during his jarring art days.

I disagree with Fab's punitive stance on puns.

Am i in Scottish part of Australia? This is great.

Avatar Thu. 10/17/13 4:47pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

THIS. THIS.
Avatar    Thu. 10/17/13 4:49pm Cecile:

Okay, lovely people.
Please talk me down from bashing my head against my desk. I just got the required reading for my diversity training next week, and it's so patronizing and just....out of touch. I remember having training in 20 years ago that was less clueless and that was supposed to be the bad old days.
Avatar    Thu. 10/17/13 4:50pm Rich in Washington:

this is amazing!
  Thu. 10/17/13 4:52pm dc waters:

James in Washington: I agree.
Avatar    Thu. 10/17/13 4:52pm steve:

if someone put a steady kick drum behind this it would be my favorite thing ever. i may have to remix
  Thu. 10/17/13 4:56pm Swaying trees:

Cecile, you have a job, and that is pretty groovy. They're giving you lots of time to space out during the training. The people who wrote it are human, doing their job. Does that help?
Avatar    Thu. 10/17/13 4:59pm Cecile:

Not that much, swaying. Still, I'll just tough it out, bring a sketchbook, and get a lot of satirical cartoon ideas out of it
Avatar Thu. 10/17/13 5:02pm tim from champaign:

Cecile - maybe using this opportunity to enlighten the patronizing trainers? Ugh, sounds rough.

Thee WORST work training I ever had was having to sit through 21 HOURS (spread over 3 days) of the "7 Habits of Highly Effective People" training at Texas Tech University. I felt like I was sent to some Ned Flanders style re-education camp.
Avatar Thu. 10/17/13 5:03pm the glowing one:

Yeah, why not debate the training peoples just for fun.
  Thu. 10/17/13 5:04pm dc waters:

I like your style, Swaying James.
Avatar Thu. 10/17/13 5:04pm northguineahills:

@Cecile: I had to do that when I worked for the Feds. Yep. It's like having a brain slug slurping through your dura mater.
Avatar    Thu. 10/17/13 5:04pm InBrkly:

diversity training....
  Thu. 10/17/13 5:06pm Swaying trees:

They mean well (unless it is a for profit entity teaching it, then there is doubt).
Avatar    Thu. 10/17/13 5:07pm Cecile:

I don't want to engage. In this particular work culture, a woman with an opinion gets laughed at and not taken seriously. It's like I hold up a sign that says "please make stupid jokes at my expense."

I still give opinions freely in spite of that, but it's going to be an 8 hour session. And of course, if you bring up things like the diversity of personal styles and upbringing outside of standard stereotypes.....aiiiiiii....I am just going to draw a lot of pictures and nod sagely.
  Thu. 10/17/13 5:07pm dc waters:

This is a Bosch painting.
  Thu. 10/17/13 5:08pm nic:

this show is so GOOD!!!!!!!!!!
Avatar    Thu. 10/17/13 5:08pm InBrkly:

Nothing brings people together more than calling out their differences.
Avatar    Thu. 10/17/13 5:09pm Cecile:

hahahahahah InBrkly.
Maybe we'll be united in annoyance.
  Thu. 10/17/13 5:09pm Swaying trees:

You can practice in-seat exercises Cecile. Firm up your butt, that sort of thing. Are we listening to a demonic possession?
Avatar Thu. 10/17/13 5:09pm the glowing one:

@Cecile: ooh, sounds like diversity training is actually needed at your work place after all... one that works
Avatar    Thu. 10/17/13 5:09pm Cecile:

Phill Minton. He should just give the presentation. That would be awesome.
  Thu. 10/17/13 5:09pm aRIELLE:

THANK GOD THATS OVER
Avatar    Thu. 10/17/13 5:10pm Whosondephone:

Avatar Thu. 10/17/13 5:11pm Chris from DC:

Just saw Audrey Chen last Sunday. Always great.
  Thu. 10/17/13 5:12pm Swaying trees:

Were they touching, Phil and Audrey, during that song?
Avatar Thu. 10/17/13 5:12pm the glowing one:

Hanson originally from Brighton,,,,,, but brighton Michigan.,,, he's one of the good ones!
Avatar    Thu. 10/17/13 5:14pm steve:

Cecile, im almost with swaying... id love to get paid for a day to sit there with a sandwich and nod agreeably now and then while observing a bizarre work ritual, even if its a dubious one (but that could just be because i need a break)
  Thu. 10/17/13 5:15pm nic:

i agree i love Bayle !!!

Avatar    Thu. 10/17/13 5:16pm Cecile:

Could you go in my place? Do you like roast beef sandwiches because that's what I ordered.
Avatar    Thu. 10/17/13 5:17pm steve:

Fabio - Basic House is a younger British guy who runs a great label called Opal Tapes with lots of lo-fi noisescapes, but with rhythms.
  Thu. 10/17/13 5:18pm dc waters:

Isn't this the week Clay & Fabio have a battle of the DJs? Thought I heard that last week.
Avatar    Thu. 10/17/13 5:20pm steve:

i definitely would if i could Cecile :) . sounds like a great break from my normal work day of coding for 10 hours by myself at home!
  Thu. 10/17/13 5:20pm Swaying trees:

Hey Steve, I wouldn't love it but as someone who was unemployed for 2.5 years a while ago, having a job is something to be grateful for. It's up to the individual if is soul-killing enought to leave and if they think they can find another job that even pays okay--a bigger and bigger problem as we get older. Sorry if this is a bummer to some but it I think it is realistic right now.
Avatar Thu. 10/17/13 5:21pm tim from champaign:

Yeah man, if the Clay and Fabio Battle doesn't happen soon I might filibuster until it happens.
  Thu. 10/17/13 5:22pm dc waters:

But Clay wanted it to start at 4:00, and Fabio said, no, at most an hour of his show, and it's beyond that now, so I figure no dice.
Avatar Thu. 10/17/13 5:22pm kirk from beer city usa:

this may well be one of the greatest radio shows of all time.
Avatar    Thu. 10/17/13 5:23pm Cecile:

I am grateful for my job. I am not a spring chicken myself. But I am not grateful for training that is kind of a waste of time and resources.
Avatar Thu. 10/17/13 5:23pm Dan:

Yo fab, check this: www.imdb.com...
Avatar Thu. 10/17/13 5:23pm Dan:

Pretty awesome flick.
Avatar    Thu. 10/17/13 5:24pm steve:

sorry to hear that Swaying... no need to apologize. lots of sympathy for people having a rough time in the current economy...

  Thu. 10/17/13 5:26pm dc waters:

  Thu. 10/17/13 5:28pm dc waters:

I'll never tell.
Avatar    Thu. 10/17/13 5:29pm Cecile:

hey, Fab, can you play the Catalogue piece with the coughing at the beginning sometime?
Avatar Thu. 10/17/13 5:31pm tim from champaign:

@Kirk - Strength Through Failure definitely the IFOA void for me.

  Thu. 10/17/13 5:46pm dc waters:

Avatar Thu. 10/17/13 5:49pm northguineahills:

Unfortunately, I was just had two month long projects dumped on me. Usually I'd be excited (i dig my job, minus the tie), but, I feel healthy enough to leave now. Also, I want beersies w/ out the volume of beer in my stomach.
  Thu. 10/17/13 5:51pm Swaying trees:

Wow, who was that dude? Death in a double bed! That Bowie. Bowie probably hit on Walker.

Clay, you should check out Christopher Amott's playlist from Diane's show today. He played a couple of Clay Classix.
