You see a blanket on the ground. It's your favorite color, smooth and soft. You can sit on it, or lie on it. It's a flying blanket, and you are the pilot. You are in control. You can fly anywhere you wish, just by thinking about it. You are the pilot.

@Patricia, this is Zoviet France! @DD -- heya, glad you tracked me down -- I've been doing Monday nights for a coupla years now, I guess going on 3. I miss Sunday mornings, but also not... @doca, why would anyone fear that terrifyingly good record?
Avatar Mon. 10/14/13 9:36pm Dan Bodah:

@PB, well, we're raising money for our public theater, so I'm upping the ante.
  Mon. 10/14/13 9:36pm diabetic dave:

Zoviet France. I haven't heard that one in a good 10 years
  Mon. 10/14/13 9:38pm diabetic dave:

I'm going to check the pirate bay to see if anyone has uploaded some zoviet france
  Mon. 10/14/13 9:40pm GM:

Jeff M has a great fill-in recently with a bunch of Zoviet France: http://wfmu.org/playlists/shows/52535

Great show so far tonight, Dan!

Avatar    Mon. 10/14/13 9:44pm doca:

@Dan B.: maybe they were just quietly listening in admiration
Avatar    Mon. 10/14/13 9:45pm Andrew Waterloo:

Oh, favourite song from The Seer.
  Mon. 10/14/13 9:47pm diabetic dave:

I'm glad you have the Monday timslot. I really couldn't listen to you half asleep on Sunday mornings
Avatar Mon. 10/14/13 9:47pm Dan Bodah:

Zoviet France, definitely worth revisiting often. Coil coming up soon too. BTW, it looks like I'll have some very special guests checking in on the show in a month's time for a segment commemorating the 3rd return of Sleazy's passing...for the 11/25/2013 show.
Avatar    Mon. 10/14/13 9:55pm Andrew Waterloo:

I've heard rumours of Coil re-issues
  Mon. 10/14/13 9:57pm jt:

oh, wait this is not my library on random. hello friends.
Avatar    Mon. 10/14/13 10:00pm Andrew Waterloo:

@Jt, always feels a bit weird, doesn't it.
Avatar Mon. 10/14/13 10:01pm Dan Bodah:

@jt, not yet. @Andrew, any ideas what albums we might see? So many of their gems are impossibly rare...
  Mon. 10/14/13 10:04pm jt:

it felt weird because i was listening to that swans record today, and, Oh Yeah is sorta always somewhere in the back of my head.
Avatar    Mon. 10/14/13 10:05pm Andrew Waterloo:

@Dan no idea.
Avatar    Mon. 10/14/13 10:07pm Andrew Waterloo:

Good evening Dan and all the listeners.
Avatar Mon. 10/14/13 10:15pm Dan Bodah:

@DD, thanks for the report and inspiration! @Richard, greetings!
  Mon. 10/14/13 10:18pm diabetic dave:

Dan. Your welcome sir:-) I'd listen on my analogue radio but reception is near zero. And I hate re arranging antennas. Wifi on my place is pretty good and I have a top notch router. So I listen on my iPod touch 5G
Mon. 10/14/13 10:19pm Richard from Venezuela:

Endorsed by Apple. :P
Avatar    Mon. 10/14/13 10:23pm Andrew Waterloo:

FM is just out of the question so I've always been on the 128K stream. I use the Android app when I want to be on headphones and be able to move around and work.
  Mon. 10/14/13 10:23pm diabetic dave:

Since I got my first windows machine in 1998? Sheer heck on earth! No more windows for me! My next machine is going to be Mac even if I have to rob a bank to pay for it
  Mon. 10/14/13 10:24pm diabetic dave:

I'm glad the app bug is fixed. The stream was always dropping every 10 minutes. Feels alright now
Avatar    Mon. 10/14/13 10:25pm Andrew Waterloo:

I use Xubuntu in an old Compaq Presario. Linux rocks.

I remember constantly re-arranging a dipole antenna for a only vaguely acceptable signal of 50-mile-away KSAN when it was worth listening to.
Avatar    Mon. 10/14/13 10:27pm pacific standard simon:

Of course, if there had been internet radio in those days, I still wouldn't have had the money for a computer.
  Mon. 10/14/13 10:31pm diabetic dave:

I would have to turn my stereos antenna into a piece of artwork just to get wfmu
Avatar    Mon. 10/14/13 10:32pm Andrew Waterloo:

I was always sceptical about online video. I had to admit I was wrong when I found myself watching lengthy videos without switching to full screen.
Avatar    Mon. 10/14/13 10:35pm pacific standard simon:

Well, there SHOULD be some sort of use for old non-digital antennas... perhaps sculpture?
  Mon. 10/14/13 10:35pm tomasz.:

wow, this late shift/insomnia thing is working out for me. never usually get to hear the Event actually being broadcast!

  Mon. 10/14/13 11:07pm jt:

that yoko track's got more beefheart in it than i remembered
  Mon. 10/14/13 11:09pm jt:

how would one say "Van Vliet"-ian?
Avatar Mon. 10/14/13 11:10pm Dan Bodah:

@Richard, that's very true -- in fact, I had pulled a Sainkho CD but I just put it away b/c I think it would be a little redundant at the moment. She's one of my all-time faves!
Mon. 10/14/13 11:13pm Richard from Venezuela:

She is one of my favorites too. Pure dinamic voice.

And now back to the Solid Gold Hell end of the spectrum.
Avatar Mon. 10/14/13 11:51pm Dan Bodah:

@Pete, this show is made of sedimentary rocks, various materials compressed into intertwined layers and fused together under extreme pressure and heat.
Avatar    Mon. 10/14/13 11:53pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

Metamorphic, even. I love it.
Avatar    Mon. 10/14/13 11:54pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):
