WFMU's October silent fundraiser is underway, as if you didn't already know. I don't care whose show you pledge to as long as you pledge. Here's the link to pledge to my show if yer so inclined: www.wfmu.org...

Hola Matt! Looking forward to the Monk/Huey stuff. And feel free to keep the NOLA party going.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:09pm
Uncle Michael:

I might have to roll a DD die to decide who to pledge to. I want the t-shirt!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:09pm

It's Ivory Joe Hunter's birthday too.

Fiveash, welcome back! I envy FMU's delagation to the Stomp every year, and while I may get there myself yet, I always look forward to these "Look what I got" shows.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:12pm
Uncle Michael:

Matt, did you meet my Cosimo Matassa archivist pal at the Stomp?
Avatar 2:13pm
Parq:

Ted's sub slots were magnificent, by the way.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16pm

UM- Nah, we had a late dinner at the Camellia Grill and the bloat kept us away from the Thursday dance party!

Shirley of Shirley & Lee: Greatest vocalist of all time?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:18pm
Uncle Michael:

New Orleans food trumps everything.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24pm
Matt F:

Really the Ponderosa Stomp is just a good thing to plan an eating vacation around. I ate so many oysters, hoping the Mercury Poisoning would kill me before the credit card debt did. No such luck!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm
Uncle Michael:

I'm imagining the fun, food and music of NOLA without huge freaking crowds. Is that a fair estimation?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm
Nate K:

Did you hit up Adolfo's on Frenchmen by chance? Quite possibly the best meal I've ever had in my life.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm
Uncle Michael:

Like even less Mard Gras-like than Jazzfest is?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm
Matt F:

That's about right. That and about half the WFMU on-air staff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:29pm
Matt F:

Nate- never heard of it. Will have to put it on the list for next time.
Avatar 2:29pm
Ted Barron:

I would never discourage playing Huey and the Clowns, but it appears that his birthday is actually on January 26th.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:32pm
Doug Schulkind:

And the Clowns' birthday is February 30.

Monk, so nice. Joe dropped some as well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41pm
Doug Schulkind:

The New York Times just posted a story about these rabbis who, for a fee, will kidnap and torture (with cattle prods) husbands until they agree to a divorce. And now the Times' site is down. Coincidence?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42pm
Matt F:

Wasn't that the plotline of a Sopranos episode?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:44pm
Nate K:

Yup, sort of. Paulie and Silvio did the dirty work though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:45pm
Doug Schulkind:

Rest easy, everyone, the torture rabbis are back online (though now in FBI custody).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:45pm
Matt F:

Parq- credit where credit's due, I stole that joke from John Funke (host of the best radio show in the world, "Backwoods", Saturday mornings 10 Am to noon on 88.1 WMBR, Cambridge MA.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:46pm

"Hasidim but I don't-a believe em!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:48pm

"and where are the romans now?"
"you're lookin' at 'em."
Avatar 2:49pm
northguineahills:

Doug, some people would pay good money for that to done to themselves. (w/ or w/o the divorce)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:57pm
listener james from westwood:

reminds me of pete bondurant's marital-strife shakedown service at the start of "american tabloid."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:00pm
Doug Schulkind:

At least the rabbis weren't farming out their torture to a mohel.
Avatar 3:08pm
northguineahills:

What about mohels for goys! Some may sign up for that! (not sure where this is going).
Avatar 3:09pm
Parq:

A guy walks past a shop which has nothing but a clock in the window. He happens to have his broken watch in his briefcase, as he's been meaning to bring it in for repair. He goes into the shop and addresses the man inside. He asks if the watch can be repaired. The store man says, "I don't fix watches. I'm a mohel."

The customer says, "You're a mohel? Then why are you displaying a clock outside?"

The store man says, "OK, you tell me what I should display there."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:11pm
Uncle Michael:

A wallet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:13pm
Uncle Michael:

Very happy to hear this song again!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:14pm
Matt F:

A shoemaker asks his friend the mohel to save all the foreskins from circumsisions and bring them to him, and he will make a beautiful gift for him. The mohel does so, and continues to do so for ten years. Finally the shoemaker calls the mohel and tells him that his gift is ready. The mohel gets there and the shoemaker presents him with a wallet.
"A wallet? Ten yeaars of foreskins and all you got out of it was a wallet?"
"Yeah, but if you rub it it turns into a suitcase".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:17pm
Uncle Michael:

Yes, a wallet.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28pm

There is a story about Jimmy Reed, not exactly a joke but it sorta has a punchline: "I done peed".
Avatar 3:38pm
Parq:

Fiveash, let's have it! Speaking of going to pee, I gotta go, although for a different reason. In case I don't make it back by 4, I'll say now that this has been another stellar show.
