This weekend I'm DJing a wedding. I've got a bit of a technical dilemma which you guys might be able to help with. The groom requested for the last song of the night to be a slow jam being Prince's "Purple Rain" and then follow it up with "I Would Die 4 U" to send things out.

So how can I seamlessly go from "Purple Rain" to "I Would Die 4 U"? The catch is I'm spinning vinyl only and only have one copy of the Purple Rain LP. There would be a few seconds of awkwardness while I cued up "I Would Die 4 U" and that would kill momentum.

Now Nancy Griffith has a mighty powerful voice. Used to be married to Eric Taylor. If you want some serious songs, he is your man.
Avatar Thu. 10/10/13 11:36am CDToaster:

It's wonderful shows such as Joe's that make me grateful to contribute to the cause. Thanks Joe!
Avatar    Thu. 10/10/13 11:37am KP:

Eric Taylor? Thanks Brian.
Avatar    Thu. 10/10/13 11:38am Joe McG:

@parq - the fingers remark was *not* in the 1 page thingy from liner notes (to what record? can't recall.)
Avatar    Thu. 10/10/13 11:39am KP:

Oops, "Nanci." I also used to be big fan of Iris Dement. I got a Christmas card her.
Avatar    Thu. 10/10/13 11:41am Parq:

Herb, I just remember reading that quote the first time Rolling Stone wrote about Prine in the early 70s. God, the things we remember when we can't even remember what we came into the room for.

Avatar Thu. 10/10/13 11:45am kirk from beer city usa:

tim f. c., if you are still there, the obvious solution is to lay out the $4 max it should take to buy a second copy of purple rain. I'd loan you mine if that were feasible.
Avatar Thu. 10/10/13 11:46am kirk from beer city usa:
