In my 33 years on the air, I have played more music by Yusef A. Lateef than any other artist. You see, I adore him.
Avatar    Tue. 10/8/13 5:50pm kat330:

Hi, Doug! Many of us do as well. 'Twill be a fine program I'm betting.
Avatar Tue. 10/8/13 5:52pm Doug Schulkind:

Greetings and welcome, kat330!
Avatar    Tue. 10/8/13 5:59pm kat330:

[Per usual dinner-fixing, busy hands time, but free ears listening in the kitchen!]
Avatar Tue. 10/8/13 6:00pm Doug Schulkind:

With all the fixin's, Kat!

Just tuned in -- listening while I cook.
Avatar Tue. 10/8/13 6:08pm Doug Schulkind:

Or, swow backwards. Howdy HGN!
Avatar    Tue. 10/8/13 6:08pm Philo Gristle:

Greetings, lot. Sounding mighty fine, Doug!
Avatar    Tue. 10/8/13 6:09pm listener james from westwood:

i too am cooking whilst listening. my last pint of frozen turkey chili over basmati rice.
Avatar Tue. 10/8/13 6:09pm Doug Schulkind:

Buona sera, Gary! Sweet dinnerings, Philo Gristle!
Avatar    Tue. 10/8/13 6:12pm Parq:

Speak for yusef, Lateef! Glad to be here to hear, at least for most of it.
Avatar Tue. 10/8/13 6:13pm Doug Schulkind:

And what are you cooking, Chef Parq?
Avatar    Tue. 10/8/13 6:15pm Parq:

Hate to cop on myself, but I just got back to my desk from a late-afternoon (very late) break. won't be cooking until Well into Antique Phono.
Avatar Tue. 10/8/13 6:16pm Doug Schulkind:

I didn't know you were a cop!
Avatar    Tue. 10/8/13 6:17pm Parq:

Me? I don't even like donuts all that much.
Avatar    Tue. 10/8/13 6:19pm kat330:

Lateef motif.
@Parq: I'm with you. Never ever cared much for donuts -- or doughnuts.
Avatar Tue. 10/8/13 6:19pm northguineahills:

I won't be cooking dinner until 11:30, but that's usual. (usually home by 8:30ish)
Avatar    Tue. 10/8/13 6:20pm kat330:

@Doug: Back to a window of typing ability: It is a taco salad using a really premium ground turkey. :)
Avatar    Tue. 10/8/13 6:21pm listener james from westwood:

holy crow, hope everyone on the d:o side is OK!
Avatar Tue. 10/8/13 6:23pm Doug Schulkind:

Everyone at D:O is O:K. Some assistance for friends is required. Fingers x'd everyone's all right and back in the saddle at 7pm (in that order).
Avatar    Tue. 10/8/13 6:23pm kat330:

Speaking of OK, anyone know if ndbob is all right? That winter blizzard seemed to come (possibly) just when he was moving down by us.
Avatar Tue. 10/8/13 6:24pm Doug Schulkind:

@Kat330
WFMU should give a ground turkey premium for our silent fundraiser!
Avatar    Tue. 10/8/13 6:26pm kat330:

Heh, Doug, that was practically a Jerry Lewis-worthy segue. ;)
Avatar Tue. 10/8/13 6:27pm Doug Schulkind:

ndbob popped on my last Friday playlist. Sounded OK.
Avatar    Tue. 10/8/13 6:28pm kat330:

I think the worst was over the weekend though. It sure looked nasty up his way. And we had a ton of rain down here, so he would have gotten it coming and going if it was his moving time.
Avatar    Tue. 10/8/13 6:29pm listener james from westwood:

that's good to hear. 48" in deadwood, sd, and something like 52-ish in another part of sd. insane. and it's early freakin' october! what's real-live winter gonna bring?
Avatar Tue. 10/8/13 6:30pm Doug Schulkind:

I bet bob is happy to high-tail it outta there.
Avatar    Tue. 10/8/13 6:32pm Philo Gristle:

The beat there reminds me of Lalo Schifrin's Dirty Harry soundtrack...
Avatar    Tue. 10/8/13 6:34pm kat330:

Presuming flooding's better than heavy snow, and IN's unAffordable no Care inAction is not a problem. I spent 90 mins. on the phone yesterday with a ACA rep filling out an application (we are low income and so will finally get a break on ins. premiums), only to have her say "Not sure it all was submitted correctly, I was booted off my computer." :/
Avatar Tue. 10/8/13 6:34pm Doug Schulkind:

Interesting association, PG! I will hafta go listen.
Avatar    Tue. 10/8/13 6:36pm kat330:

Strange Lullaby indeed! :) Who's letting the air out of the balloon?
Avatar    Tue. 10/8/13 6:37pm listener james from westwood:

jeez, if the phone reps are getting booted off, that's a bad sign for the end user.
Avatar    Tue. 10/8/13 6:38pm Philo Gristle:

Great soundtrack; here's a link with youtube (& an old review of the cd): bit.ly...
Avatar    Tue. 10/8/13 6:39pm kat330:

Yes, James, indeed it's been a trial for us since Oct. 1st. and has been absorbing all my energy. :/ Affordable insurance is something Philo and I have been lacking and sorely needing since 2002.
Avatar Tue. 10/8/13 6:39pm dale:

i think the bush administration spent more to tell us about the digital television transition.

@dale: No doubt. Bill and Melinda should donate some assistance to the healthcare.gov website.
Avatar    Tue. 10/8/13 6:45pm kat330:

Philo just told me FMU is actually having a health care discussion. Sorry, but what I've been dealing with these past several days is at least as relevant as whatever food people are cooking / eating. I'll shut up about ACA now and hope 93-yr-old Lateef has great health coverage.
Avatar Tue. 10/8/13 6:45pm Doug Schulkind:

Hi Dale, you are on the comment board for Give the Drummer Some. If I may speak for everyone: Welcome!
Avatar Tue. 10/8/13 6:49pm dale:

d'oh! figured that out...saw some insurance chatter so just assumed.
Avatar Tue. 10/8/13 6:49pm Doug Schulkind:

Avatar    Tue. 10/8/13 6:55pm ndbob:

Avatar Tue. 10/8/13 6:55pm Doug Schulkind:

n!d!b!o!b!
Avatar    Tue. 10/8/13 6:56pm kat330:

Bon chance with that, Bob! :) The rep today (yes, every day a new rep) said it should be getting fine by then. We shall hope and we shall see!

Thanks for the Lateef homage, Doug! Have a great night everyone!
Avatar    Tue. 10/8/13 6:57pm ndbob:

Yep my present insurance has become way out of budget - I will let you know when I arrive!
Avatar Tue. 10/8/13 6:58pm Doug Schulkind:

G'night kat!
Avatar    Tue. 10/8/13 6:59pm Philo Gristle:

Great show Doug! And glad to hear you weren't moving during the worst of it, Bob. Night, owl!
Avatar    Tue. 10/8/13 6:59pm ndbob:

Avatar Tue. 10/8/13 6:59pm northguineahills:

GIVE THE DRUMMER RADIO PROGRAMMING ALERT...
D:O Radio will be filling in for Kaminsky Kamoutsky tonight — but, it will get off to a late start as your host Jeff had to accompany someone to the hospital at the last minute. He'll be back in the radio saddle as soon as possible. I will keep playing Yusef off the grid for a while. STAY TUNED!
Avatar    Tue. 10/8/13 7:00pm ndbob:

What I heard was excellent Doug! will catch the rest on the archive
Avatar    Tue. 10/8/13 7:07pm listener james from westwood:

i'm in for the duration. jeff gets cosmic credit for doing a mitzvah.
Avatar Tue. 10/8/13 7:10pm Doug Schulkind:

Yes, a friend called Jeff last minute and asked him to hie to the emergency room to stay with a young'n. Hope everything turns out OK.
Avatar Tue. 10/8/13 7:10pm northguineahills:

Avatar Tue. 10/8/13 7:10pm Doug Schulkind:
