Uncle Michael:

I'd like to hear about any occasions where Doc and Mort had to share songwriting credit with any suits or performers that had no role in the writing.

My firsts (I bought several 45s at once) were the Kinks and the Beau Brummels, but only because I didn't have any allowance / spending money until high school.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:52pm
Uncle Michael:

Live For Today was a cover of a song in Italian by a Brit group, The Rokes. www.youtube.com...
Avatar 3:52pm
slater:

@kat330: i thought i recognized that!
Avatar 3:54pm
kat330:

@UM: Yeah, I found that out in my search, too, but Grass Roots was the familiar version.
@slater: Yeah, immediately I heard that "sha-la-la-la-la-la Live for Today" bit. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:55pm
Uncle Michael:

"In the United States, the Rokes version of "Let's Live for Today" found its way to the head of Dunhill Records, who felt that the song would make a suitable single release for The Grass Roots.[1] The composer/producer team of P. F. Sloan and Steve Barri, who managed The Grass Roots' recordings, were also enthusiastic about the song, with Sloan being particularly enamored with the similarities that the song's chorus had to The Drifters' "I Count the Tears"

I think Magic pretty much sums up this whole playlist, whether in the titles or not. This show certainly did not "disappoptimize." Thanks, Ted and Sharyn and ? was it Will? !! Sorry about the other guest's name, but thank you, too!
