Avatar Thu. 9/26/13 2:25pm Uncle Michael:

I'd like to hear about any occasions where Doc and Mort had to share songwriting credit with any suits or performers that had no role in the writing.
Avatar Thu. 9/26/13 2:25pm Dominick:

Totally psyched for this program!
Avatar Thu. 9/26/13 2:27pm kat330:

Avatar Thu. 9/26/13 2:30pm kat330:

My firsts (I bought several 45s at once) were the Kinks and the Beau Brummels, but only because I didn't have any allowance / spending money until high school.
Avatar Thu. 9/26/13 2:34pm Uncle Michael:

I'm not embarrassed to say the first vewrsion of Youngblood with which I was familiar was Leon Russell's from the Concert for Bangla Desh.
Avatar Thu. 9/26/13 2:38pm glenn:

i have to say, leon and willie live is one of my faves.
Avatar Thu. 9/26/13 2:40pm Uncle Michael:

I've seen a lot of records in my time, including 78s -- but I've never seen an original recording by Doc Pomus. Reissue LPs, yes; original discs, never.
Avatar Thu. 9/26/13 3:29pm Sean B.:

This paticular Barron episode has been absolutely unbelievable!.Thanx Ted...;WOW man.
Avatar Thu. 9/26/13 3:31pm KevinfromBayRidge:

Great stuff! Always love hearing about native Brooklynite success stories. Nowadays in WBurg, Sharyn's crib incident would probably a misguided panini through the window!
Avatar Thu. 9/26/13 3:35pm slater:

play Power and Glory!
Avatar Thu. 9/26/13 3:38pm northguineahills:

Still waiting for a misguided panini to go through my window, *sniff*
Avatar Thu. 9/26/13 3:49pm kat330:

Exact same musical riff as Grass Roots' Let's Live for Today, wow. "I Count the Tears" I mean.
Avatar Thu. 9/26/13 3:51pm northguineahills:

Crap, I forgot about clicky stars....
Avatar Thu. 9/26/13 3:52pm holland oats:

loving this show, psyched for the movie
Avatar Thu. 9/26/13 3:52pm Uncle Michael:

Live For Today was a cover of a song in Italian by a Brit group, The Rokes. www.youtube.com...
Avatar Thu. 9/26/13 3:52pm slater:

@kat330: i thought i recognized that!
Avatar Thu. 9/26/13 3:54pm kat330:

@UM: Yeah, I found that out in my search, too, but Grass Roots was the familiar version.
@slater: Yeah, immediately I heard that "sha-la-la-la-la-la Live for Today" bit. :)
Avatar Thu. 9/26/13 3:55pm Uncle Michael:

"In the United States, the Rokes version of "Let's Live for Today" found its way to the head of Dunhill Records, who felt that the song would make a suitable single release for The Grass Roots.[1] The composer/producer team of P. F. Sloan and Steve Barri, who managed The Grass Roots' recordings, were also enthusiastic about the song, with Sloan being particularly enamored with the similarities that the song's chorus had to The Drifters' "I Count the Tears"
Avatar Thu. 9/26/13 3:56pm kat330:

I think Magic pretty much sums up this whole playlist, whether in the titles or not. This show certainly did not "disappoptimize." Thanks, Ted and Sharyn and ? was it Will? !! Sorry about the other guest's name, but thank you, too!
Avatar Thu. 9/26/13 3:56pm Doug Schulkind:

Massive show, Ted! Thank you Sharyn!
Avatar Thu. 9/26/13 3:56pm Uncle Michael:

Such a great time, folks...thank you all.
Avatar Thu. 9/26/13 3:59pm Alex In Illinois:

Hi Ted!
Avatar Thu. 9/26/13 4:01pm northguineahills:

Oh, crap, shows over, thanks Ted, Sharyn!
Avatar Thu. 9/26/13 4:04pm Doug Schulkind:

Ted, you can keep going until 9am tomorrow, as far as I'm concerned.
Avatar Thu. 9/26/13 4:06pm duke:

Wonderful show!
Avatar Thu. 9/26/13 7:22pm Ted Barron:
