from the Italian Star Wars followup StarCrash! Closing the escape pod doors

listener james from westwood:

some of those euro takes on star wars were mighty strange. the turkish one was almost literally extraterrestrial.
Avatar 7:17pm
Jesse K:

yeah, I think it pretty much embarrassed everyone. To the best of my knowledge, it's all the same footage of special effects with some gentleman in a helmet speaking Turkish superimposed, though I haven't watched it all
Avatar 7:21pm
Jesse K:

Starcrash had tons of ship models and costume changes and extravagant sets, all of which were reused pretty much wholesale for the followups.

I have a friend from Nigera who claims her sister learned Hindi watching so many Bollywood films.
Avatar 8:06pm
Jesse K:

amazing, did she have a use for Hindi once she learned it?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:08pm
listener james from westwood:

love charlie feathers.

If you live in fables then you know what I mean
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:29pm
Gary:

Well, the key word there is "claims" ... :) I have no idea if she really honestly learned it or not.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:29pm
Gary:

I do believe they watched a lotta Bollywood, tho
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:31pm
listener james from westwood:

that would be quite a feat. even after 6 years of spanish, i could only understand about 50% of the dialog on telemundo or univison.
Avatar 8:33pm
Jesse K:

I'm sure it would help to have a local population to actually interact with, I have the problem of getting bollywood songs stuck in my head but only being able to sing nonesense to them
Avatar 8:34pm
Jesse K:

sorry for the lack of information on these Brazilian tracks. They're from an assortment of mixtapes found around Rio in 2003 or so, not a lot of documention
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:37pm
Doug Schulkind:

Are you taunting me with those short song titles, Kaminsky?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:38pm
Uncle Michael:

Shhh...I'm learning Portuguese.

mumblywood, not bollywood.
Avatar 8:54pm

bombay is now mumbai, therefore bollywood should be mumblywood.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:54pm
Uncle Michael:

Mumbly Peg would be such a good band name
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:59pm
listener james from westwood:

"i have no swag"—the saddest title an fmu listener can hear
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:59pm
Uncle Michael:

Thank you, Jesse the K.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:00pm
listener james from westwood:
