howdy, amanda, and our wednesday warriors and worriers!
i'm in the latter camp: apropos to this week being back-to-school week, i had a nightmare that i had a paper due this friday. 22 years after college and i still get these dreams.
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 12:01pm glenn:

the worst kind of flashback.
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 12:01pm pacific standard simon:

Me too. I dream that it's finals and I haven't gone to class all semester.
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 12:02pm Carmichael:

I dream that I'm in English Lit and I'm not wearing pants.
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 12:03pm Dominick:

Just back from an opthamologist exam, eyes totally dilated.
Sitting in a dark room with the computer monitor dimmed way down.
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 12:03pm pacific standard simon:

Hello 'mander.
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 12:04pm glenn:

i dream that i'm carmichael's teacher, and i'm wearing his pants.
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 12:04pm listener james from westwood:

Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 12:06pm Carmichael:

Nice call with the Tubes, Amanda! Is this the version from TRASH?
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 12:06pm glenn:

Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 12:07pm Amanda:

Hi everybody!!! And welcome!

@Carmichael -- I am not sure. I just have this here single.
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 12:07pm Brian in UK:

Hello Amanda & avid followers.
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 12:07pm Carmichael:

Nope. Re Styles sing the whole song solo on Tubes Rarities and Smash Hits. This is a Todd Rundgren production, btw.
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 12:08pm glenn:

oh. i thought it was al kooper.
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 12:08pm Brian in UK:

Hey Carmichael did you get the motor sorted out?
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 12:08pm pacific standard simon:

@Dominick - I need to do that too -- yesterday a floater developed that looks like a fly drifting in front of my eye.
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 12:10pm Brian in UK:

i have a small crop of floaters, too. i think nearsightedness correlates with their development. surprisingly they don't inhibit my proofreading. but i do sometimes run into trouble when swatting bugs, or "bugs."

rev rabbit: i was a dilatory pupil. shit just got left 'til the last minute.
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 12:22pm pacific standard simon:

Oh jeez, Dominick, mine come and go pretty quickly; I couldn't live with this one for a year. It's too big, front-and-center.
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 12:24pm pacific standard simon:

Need to get a copy of the Fantasticks OST -- it was one of those records that was always at the library, always ignored.
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 12:26pm glenn:

they may not be floaters, which are protein deposits. they may be blind spots, which is related to macular degeneration, which is way, way worse.
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 12:26pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...didn't go up to University like y'allz
...used to have nightmares of going to Skool - forgetting locker combo - wondering what my shcedule was now that it was a decade later (whatever) - but they seem to have faded !
...As long as I don't have nightmares in my old age here from the days of trying to pay rent in Santa Barbara by telemarketing - I'll call it even...
- Bangles did this up, no?
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 12:27pm glenn:

[i spend a lot of time at the opthalmologist]
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 12:28pm listener james from westwood:

i'm not a doctor, but i will say that sudden changes in vision are always worth running by one. my mom developed a sudden visual obstruction in 1 eye that turned out to have its origin in carotid plaque. essentially an eye-stroke. ultrasound revealed an 80% carotid blockage; surgery followed.
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 12:29pm Alex In Illinois:

I had floaters last year. There were the dark ones that I saw with my eyes opened, that I first thought were bugs or spiders, then there were the zipping white dots I would see when I closed my eyes sometimes. I called my ophthomologist's office and told them and they asked: "How soon can you be here?" So I went, they checked out my eyes, sounded relieved and said: "No detached retina or anything like that. These are due to age, and should dissapear in a few months." They did.
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 12:29pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...also had dreams of playing amazing guitar in public & such - waking up & thinking - 'Hey! I wrote that music!' - but can't remember it, of course...
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 12:31pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...okay - so just going progressively nearsighted maybe not so bad...
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 12:32pm Alex In Illinois:

I still have that nightmare about being in school and not knowing my schedule, and being afraid that I am missing a class.

In some of the the more recent ones, I am a teacher, but I don't know what subject I am supposed to teach.
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 12:32pm Doug Schulkind:

From Jerry Orbach to Jerry's records!
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 12:32pm glenn:

hmmmm. i vote live in budokan. even though it was probably live in some california studio.
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 12:35pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...I think I still dream of being in my room in the big house I grew up in
- like - in some part of my Psyche - that is still Home & that is still My Room, as far as it's concerned...
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 12:36pm listener james from westwood:

@alex: yes yes yes. also the ones of being unable to find said classes, or the locker where my books for said classes are located. or the fucking combo for said locker.
k-16: the hidden source of ptsd.
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 12:36pm listener james from westwood:

rev: i still dream of being in the "home" bedroom. i have also awakened and left my bed as though it were that bygone bed. the wall disagreed.
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 12:37pm glenn:

james, wall. wall, james.
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 12:38pm Danne D:

I'm confused - is it hard as a rock or is it harder than a rock?
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 12:38pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- seriously ! - like - waking up in your *real* current room & thinking - 'What is this place - ?!'...
- refelctions on the other stream...
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 12:38pm Amanda:

It's intentionally ambiguous.
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 12:39pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- it was a wall - hard enuff I presume!
...& in 'JailBreak' by Thin Lizzy : 'Tonight there's gonna be a jialbreak - somewhere in this town'

Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 12:45pm glenn:

wouldn't it be the gaol, technically?
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 12:47pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- do the Irish say it like that ?
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 12:49pm Amanda:

GOAL and GAOL remind me of my Word Twist days
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 12:53pm Uncle Michael:

I missed good stuff! Hello.
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 12:54pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Howdy UM !
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 12:54pm Alex In Illinois:

@Revolution Rabbit Nov63:
You mentioned "playing amazing guitar" dream. I have had that too, and also the same experience of the melody being erased from my memory as I wake up, so that it is lost before I can play it.

For me, sometimes it is not a guitar, but some strange instrument that does not exist in real life. In one, the instrument consisted of ropes stretched across a crater, and a bunch of us had to stand in the crater below the ropes and jump up to pluck them.
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 12:55pm Uncle Michael:

One might suppose The American Ruse took their name from the MC5 song.
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 12:55pm Brian in UK:

I had an operation for a lazy left eye when I was five. since then the 'laziness' has spread to the rest of the body. The good thing to come out of it was not to be afraid of hospitals.
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 12:56pm Uncle Michael:

Hello Rev.
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 12:56pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Alex: - I wonder if that's how Harry Partch came up w/ that stuff ! Of course Sir Macca dreamt the melody to 'Yesterday' - the highest-paying royalties song - ever.
UM - This one might.
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 12:57pm Brian in UK:

I site Keith Richard and Satisfaction.
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 12:59pm pacific standard simon:

@UM - One might also suppose that they are no MC5.
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 1:02pm pacific standard simon:

Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 1:10pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...I tend to look down on my hometown I grew up in
- a small dead milltwon in NorthNewEngland
- but not long ago - my oldest friend's Dad was dying - & they were keeping vigil - & I visited their house, where I had been frequent visitor @ dinnertime & such
...& standing on their porch
- the *overwhelmingly* powerful sense I wouldn't need a ride - I could easily walk 'home' from there...
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 1:12pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- milltOWn - not milltwon - not in Korea...
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 1:15pm Brian in UK:

Sometimes things just catch you when you are looking the other way.
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 1:15pm Uncle Michael:

In dreams, I play keyboards. Awake, I've never fantasize about playing keyboards. I'm normal. I fantasize about guitar and bass.
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 1:15pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- yeah.
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 1:17pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

i play guitar - but consciously wish I could play boogie-woogie piano. Hard! It's just putting in time - lots & lots & lots of time...
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 1:17pm Dominick:

Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 1:18pm Uncle Michael:

My favorite part of this track is the break that goes "one-two-three-four-one-two-three-GOOD LOVIN'"

Wait for it.
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 1:18pm Uncle Michael:

And there it was!
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 1:19pm Brian in UK:

Nice to have you, Kevin from BR!
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 1:31pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- okay - yeah
...but I always got the sneaking feeling Brian & Syd & those people weren't the crazy ones - they just caved under the pressure of being the Creative one in a bunch of Careerists who are supposedly their group but even they give them crap...
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 1:32pm Uncle Michael:

I think Murry raised a fragile kid, then applied enough pressure to crack him.
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 1:32pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 1:33pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 1:33pm Doug Schulkind:

It's okay, Amanda. You can play dirty rekkids on the Drummer Stream!
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 1:34pm Uncle Michael:

Amanda, I didn't mean to imply that the seven count is out loud. It's not...it's just that the hold is amazing to me because it's 1 3/4 measures.
Avatar Wed. 9/4/13 1:34pm Uncle Michael:

Murry, no "a".
