Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 3:22pm Mike East:

oh yes, this is nice.
Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 3:25pm fleep:

Dan Bodah uses The Necks as his mic bed, good to hear another piece by them.
Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 3:26pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

a nice long neck, that.
Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 3:35pm steve:

  Thu. 7/25/13 3:38pm rachael:

I predict this show will fail at being a failure.
  Thu. 7/25/13 3:42pm dave:

Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 3:42pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

clicky-star for crazy uncle max.
  Thu. 7/25/13 3:45pm dave:

  Thu. 7/25/13 3:46pm dave:

1 eye on the inside, 1 eye on the outside-- perfect
Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 3:47pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

...speaking of which, i'm about due for a re-read of tzara's Seven Dada Manifestos. Goes well with coffee.
  Thu. 7/25/13 3:48pm dave:

nice one
Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 3:57pm Carmichael:

OK. I've been waiting all day for failure.
Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 4:03pm fleep:

Time waits for no one; failure waits for everyone.
Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 4:09pm Cecile:

dang, missed the Necks.
Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 4:10pm Cecile:

or gold commercials...
Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 4:11pm Mike East:

I heard bad things about the new Winding-Refn movie...still curious to see it. I've seen most of his others and liked them.
Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 4:11pm Cecile:

I hear a but....
Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 4:12pm Mike East:

my friend's review here: ecstatictext.blogspot.com

He basically says the same...empty plot
Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 4:14pm Cecile:

I saw Despicable Me 2. It was funny as hell.
  Thu. 7/25/13 4:15pm rachael:

Just read "Looking for Bruce Conner". Great read!
Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 4:15pm Mike East:

I wanna see that, Cecile! May have to wait for dvd, though.
Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 4:16pm Cecile:

that's terrible.
Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 4:17pm Cecile:

Mike East, that might be better because there might be minion short films on the DVD!
  Thu. 7/25/13 4:21pm rachael:

There's an interview in the Brooklyn Rail with Peter Kubelka and his thoughts about film. My favorite quote is "... film will not be a mass medium anymore That will happen and that's not my concern, because I'm not the entertainer for the masses".
Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 4:22pm Mike East:

@Cecile - I'm gonna rent the first one next week, I think. Still haven't seen it. My daughter liked it, though. We watched Rise of the Guardians last week and now she wants me to get The Croods.
  Thu. 7/25/13 4:23pm rachael:

Has anyone seen "Museum Hours?"
Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 4:26pm Cecile:

Rise of the Guardians was pretty good. It looked gorgeous. I think it would have been a better story w/o Jack Frost - Santa and the Easter Bunny had incredible worlds, and you could have made a whole movie about them. That's what happens when you get Guillermo Del Toro involved
Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 4:27pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

speaking of worlds -- Gilliam's latest (zero theorem) is nearly out, innit?
Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 4:29pm tim from champaign:

Anyone seen The Conjuring? Is it any good?
Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 4:29pm Mike East:

I agree, Cecile. I would have like to have seen the Sandman's world...he was my favorite.
Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 4:30pm Cecile:

he was great!
Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 4:35pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

assuming playlist will catch up but who the jackson hellfire is this drone piece? Yummy.
Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 4:38pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

clicky-star must feed.
Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 4:39pm Carmichael:

This must be Fabio's stalling drone.
Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 4:39pm Cheri Pi:

What the jackson 5; does the clicky star go to Axolotl?
Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 4:41pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

I don't dole out the clicky-stars lightly. This is a perilous and awesome assignment of deep-friggin' honor.
Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 4:43pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

ok, we can backwards engineer from this. Groovy.
  Thu. 7/25/13 4:45pm Marmalade Kitty:

Diggin..!
Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 4:46pm Cheri Pi:

Yep, Axolotl for the Clicky!
Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 4:48pm DCE:

just play it safe and click 'em all. Then trade them with your friends!
Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 4:48pm Cheri Pi:

I felt like Richard Dawson, gameshow host and timelord there for a minute due to the unknown Clicky-star answer.
Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 4:49pm Cheri Pi:

Too loose for me DCE, I would hate to Clickystar first, then taketh away...
Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 4:49pm DCE:

Fabio's tears would well up if he saw a star disappear...
Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 4:50pm DCE:

he's senstitive, you know
Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 4:51pm Cheri Pi:

LOL
Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 4:51pm DCE:

well, he's sentient, anyway
Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 4:56pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

White-Denim Fabio don't take no sheeit.
"what up"?
Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 4:56pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

I actually heard a human being refer to another human being as "home slice" today. I nearly jumped out of my own mouth to kill everyone with fire.
  Thu. 7/25/13 4:57pm dave:

what does it mean?
  Thu. 7/25/13 4:59pm dave:

home slice?
Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 5:01pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

I have no idea. Some kind of terribly out-dated (by at least 15 years) exaggeration of hipness that never made sense in the first place.
Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 5:02pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

...nearly as bad as some reekin' white rabbit that keeps walking into a room & announcing his presence with "what it is!"
Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 5:04pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

[clicky]
Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 5:05pm northguineahills:

Well, Marja-leena Sillanpaa is new to me.....
Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 5:06pm Cheri Pi:

Home Slice was the updated 1999 version of "Cool Head"
  Thu. 7/25/13 5:07pm dave:

he he he
Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 5:08pm Cheri Pi:

which was a contemporary reading of "Pally"
Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 5:10pm papageno:

Great show! Thank you Fabio for the decades of great radio. Hey, Have you seen the film Act of Killing? Since you are in NYC, I thought you may have caught the opening.
Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 5:10pm Cheri Pi:

Speaking of white denim! Andrew WK is coming to my li'l local tavern soon!!! I will wear white denim as well in solidarity.
Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 5:11pm Cecile:

oh, good. You will be wearing....something. hahahahaha
Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 5:12pm Cecile:

I kid, I kid!
Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 5:12pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

of all the colored denim I had in the '70s (Toughskins, yo!) white was mysteriously not present... There was that red (matching this playlist) which made many of us Emperors of hip...
Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 5:15pm tim from champaign:

I wish there was Toughskins for adults. Not out of nostalgia's sake but I'm hard on pants.
Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 5:17pm northguineahills:

Thought this sounded familiar.

Yeah, I had toughskins as a kid in the 70s-80s.
  Thu. 7/25/13 5:28pm Marmalade Kitty:

hard on pants..? :P
Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 5:30pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Kyu Sakamoto, 1961 in Japan, 1963 with a hopped-up British orchestra and international hit. A Taste Of Honey ("Boogie Oogie Oogie") also did a nice English-language version in 1981.

And, it's "SKI-yaki"--don't pronounce the U in S-U-K...like "Yo-ko-SKA".
Avatar Thu. 7/25/13 5:59pm Matt from Springfield:

True ?, both are I-talian Argen-tines!
