Do we have some (Rubber) Bandrauschen today?
Avatar    Tue. 7/9/13 11:33am Carmichael:

Hiya Tony. I am waiting obediently.
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 11:40am Tony Coulter:

Heya, Carmichael and Rubber Band! I am currently picking spilled coffee beans off the floor. Coming up: one steaming mug of dust-mite joe.
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 11:43am Jeremy N:

Grinding my beans in anticipation!
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 11:57am Tony Coulter:

I'll be starting with the Embryo cassette, which is on the upper right in the pic on the playlist.
Avatar    Tue. 7/9/13 12:01pm DCE:

Hello fellow aural exploders
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 12:02pm Tony Coulter:

Heya DCE (and a belated hey to Jeremy too)
Avatar    Tue. 7/9/13 12:08pm Carmichael:

Tony, there is a live 1981 Embryo release out there, apparently on the Schneeball label. I can't find any other info yet.
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 12:08pm Kay:

I remember borrowing my cousin's Led Zeppelin II, then accidentally taping over midway through Whole Lotta Love, somehow overriding the tab-out protection with my little portable player. You could hardly tell.
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 12:09pm Kay:

Do you bust out your tabs, Tony?
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 12:10pm Tony Coulter:

Hola. Kay!

@ Carmichael: That's not what I have. I'm pretty sure what I have is unreleased stuff. The cover is hand-made.
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 12:11pm Tony Coulter:

@ Kay: Yes, I do jab out the tabs with a pencil. Better safe than sorry.
Avatar    Tue. 7/9/13 12:11pm Carmichael:

That's awesome, Tony. How did you manage to find it?
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 12:14pm Tony Coulter:

I bought it from Archie Patterson of Eurock, who used to get lots of demos and such from krautrock types. Still does, I imagine.
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 12:15pm Tony Coulter:

He didn't remember exactly what it was.
Avatar    Tue. 7/9/13 12:15pm DCE:

wonderful wonderful!
Avatar    Tue. 7/9/13 12:17pm DCE:

not enough hiss to hiss out the hi-hats!
Avatar    Tue. 7/9/13 12:18pm Rich in Washington:

Archie's a character. Spent some time recently chatting with him.
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 12:19pm Tony Coulter:

At KBOO, I imagine? (Hola, Richie Rich)
Avatar    Tue. 7/9/13 12:24pm Stanley:

This is great stuff.
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 12:25pm Tony Coulter:

Hey, Stanley! Glad you approve....
Avatar    Tue. 7/9/13 12:34pm Rich in Washington:

No, at a street fair, but I've also hung out with him at the station, yes.
THis is a grand show, Tony!
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 12:36pm Tony Coulter:

Thankee! The Afghanistan stuff on the flip is grand for sure.
Avatar    Tue. 7/9/13 12:37pm Ike:

Hey hey hey!
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 12:40pm Tony Coulter:

Waddup, Ikester
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 12:43pm Jeremy N:

this is amazing stuff. I imagine they ended up working with some of the best musicians around by traveling the way they did.
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 12:43pm northguineahills:

Crap, the benedryl is making me sleepy.
  Tue. 7/9/13 12:44pm Marie:

I love this.
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 12:44pm Tony Coulter:

Hey, NGH! Maybe prop your eyes open with toothpicks?
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 12:45pm Tony Coulter:

Hi Marie! Glad you're enjoying it....
  Tue. 7/9/13 12:46pm Marie:

Thanks Tony, it's always a pleasure listening to you.
Avatar    Tue. 7/9/13 12:46pm Brian in UK:

Hello Tony & cassetteophiles. Grinding my beans sounds a trifle grubby.
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 12:48pm Tony Coulter:

Heya, B in UK! I have a beanguard to prevent me from grinding my beans.
  Tue. 7/9/13 12:52pm Marie:

This song now is so good. So much going on. Great.
Avatar    Tue. 7/9/13 1:00pm Carmichael:

Raga-Kraut? Whatever it is, it works.
  Tue. 7/9/13 1:08pm Marie:

Tony, you're hitting it out of the park!!!
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 1:09pm Tony Coulter:

@ Carmichael: Sauerkraut chutney?

@ Marie: Thanks!
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 1:12pm Tony Coulter:

Hope y'all like the frogs as much as the krauts.
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 1:19pm Tony Coulter:

A bit of Magma is creeping in, methinks.
Avatar    Tue. 7/9/13 1:21pm Uncle Michael:

Ahhh...the hissing of summer tapes.
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 1:24pm Tony Coulter:

Get off my summer lawn, you crazy kids -- oh, it's just you, Uncle Michael. Greets!
Avatar    Tue. 7/9/13 1:25pm Uncle Michael:

Hiya!
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 1:28pm Tony Coulter:

Forgive me, but I can't write out this track title: too many mathematical symbols!
Avatar    Tue. 7/9/13 1:29pm Rich in Washington:

This is great stuff!
I got that Zhuelian vibe, too, Uncle Michael!
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 1:34pm Tony Coulter:

The bass playing is Zeuhl-ish fer sure.
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 1:35pm Tony Coulter:

You don't have to be Zeuhlish to love [what was that bread again?]
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 1:37pm RUBBER BAND:

Just untied myself to be able to turn on to the show!
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 1:38pm Rick from SC:

This is some great stuff!
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 1:40pm Tony Coulter:

Hey Rick -- and Rubber Band Houdini too!
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 1:46pm RUBBER BAND:

so was that Orient Express the same band that made a 1969 album self titled and included indo rock fusion and funk and was on the mainstream label
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 1:49pm Tony Coulter:

Nope -- different band. This one was a French duo active only in the '80s.
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 1:53pm RUBBER BAND:

reminds me this of early Devo, Chrome, and early Human League etc
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 1:54pm Tony Coulter:

Yeah, kind of in that vein. The first track is rather Tuxedomoon-ish as well.
Avatar    Tue. 7/9/13 1:55pm Uncle Michael:

@Rubber Band: I played some of *that* Orient Express on my show a couple weeks back...it's in the archive.
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 1:55pm RUBBER BAND:

there is a bit of Van Der Graaf in there too.
Avatar    Tue. 7/9/13 1:56pm Uncle Michael:

Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 1:56pm RUBBER BAND:

UM - where are you when you play with yourself?
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 1:58pm RUBBER BAND:

got you - you are the hinky dink guy?
Avatar    Tue. 7/9/13 1:58pm Snortley:

Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 1:59pm RUBBER BAND:

Snortley -
I would'nt mind drinking out of those glasses!
Avatar    Tue. 7/9/13 2:00pm Uncle Michael:

I am.
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 2:02pm Tony Coulter:

@ Snortley: Aha! So that's who that is on the Goosewind cassette cover. I wondered. Thanks! (And greetings!)
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 2:03pm RUBBER BAND:

TC- not quite cold wave more like cold prog?
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 2:07pm Tony Coulter:

Better than warmed-over prog, I guess!
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 2:08pm RUBBER BAND:

oh TC its just inde pop that you could find 10 bands to a penny in Manchester in the late 80s!
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 2:11pm RUBBER BAND:

saying that it does have a sort of Kinks/Small Faces/T.REX charm!
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 2:12pm Tony Coulter:

This pop is fizzier than most. Kind of like Deep Freeze Mice or sumpin'.
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 2:14pm RUBBER BAND:

this is My White Bicycle rhythm!
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 2:15pm Tony Coulter:

My White Corpuscle
Avatar    Tue. 7/9/13 2:17pm Carmichael:

Goosewind isn't an offshoot of Hawkwind, I'm thinking.
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 2:18pm Tony Coulter:

Nope -- but probably a play on Hawkwind's name!
Avatar    Tue. 7/9/13 2:18pm Uncle Michael:

A corpuscle built for two.
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 2:22pm Tony Coulter:

Did he just say, "I like the chicken to stay out of sight."
Avatar    Tue. 7/9/13 2:23pm Uncle Michael:

I feel like chicken tonight...chicken tonight...
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 2:24pm Tony Coulter:

Waiting for my chicken ... I mean man.
  Tue. 7/9/13 2:26pm MrFab:

Really diggin' the show today Tony.
this The Twins & Rig Veeda loveliness reminds me of how the Velvet Underground influence on '80s indie rock was quite refreshing at the time, not the cliche it is today. (Still, as cliched influences go, I can think of lots worse ones than the Velvets...)
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 2:29pm Tony Coulter:

Hey. MrFab! Agreed heartily re Velvets influence....
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 2:30pm Doug Schulkind:

Greetings Tony and fellow hisspsters!
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 2:32pm Tony Coulter:

Doug! Glad you pulled yourself away from your holiday bacchanal to drop by!
Avatar    Tue. 7/9/13 2:32pm Carmichael:

Definite Velvets. Garbage Man sounds like Joe Strummer or Post-Shane Pogues.
Avatar    Tue. 7/9/13 2:32pm holland oats:

likin' this twins/rig tony!
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 2:34pm Tony Coulter:

Ahoy there, Holland Oats!
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 2:35pm Doug Schulkind:

Tony, in half an hour, I have to go get my lobstahs (only $3.00 a pound) from my own private lobstahman. Fresh offa the boat.
Avatar    Tue. 7/9/13 2:37pm Uncle Michael:

Would that be a lobstahboat?
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 2:37pm Tony Coulter:

Make sure it's a lobster-man and not a man-lobster.
Avatar    Tue. 7/9/13 2:38pm Carmichael:

And getcha some drawhn butta.
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 2:40pm Doug Schulkind:

The lobstah lobby has done little in addressing the lobstah glut, forcing prices down for the 3rd year in a row. Commence crying lobstah tears.
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 2:41pm Tony Coulter:

Those of you with long memories may recall that I played some Gooswind on a previous Tape Hiss. This is not the same stuff.
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 2:41pm northguineahills:

Got free Tonkatsu as the restaurant gave me hot piping tan tan soup, instead. That's good service!
Avatar    Tue. 7/9/13 2:42pm Brian in UK:

@ngh how is your paw?
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 2:47pm northguineahills:

I took some benedryl, which made me sleepy and more spacey then normal, but it stopped swelling. Doesn't help I didn't sleep last night due to the wtf! is happening to me factor. thanks Brian! this has made work more of a challenge.
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 2:48pm northguineahills:

Eating w/ chopsticks w/ my lefthand, which is a rather curious endeavor.
Avatar    Tue. 7/9/13 2:49pm Brian in UK:

@ngh be thankful taht you are writing those words 'this has made WORK more of a challenge'.
Avatar    Tue. 7/9/13 2:50pm Brian in UK:

Adios amigos. Never cease to be amazed at the depth of the well, Tony.
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 2:51pm Tony Coulter:

Sorry to hear about your travails, NGH. Hands do come in handy -- when they're working right.
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 2:51pm northguineahills:

Amen!, Brian! have to wait until the end of the month before my health insurance kicks in. Man, this kills, Tony, Thanks!
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 2:52pm Tony Coulter:

Adieu, Brian!
  Tue. 7/9/13 2:53pm MrFab:

hey, it's that John Cale song! (Speaking of the Velvets.) Also covered by Bauhaus. Wonder who did it first...
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 2:57pm RUBBER BAND:

nice show TC, more interesting than some of the kitchen sink sounds you played a couple of shows back - thanks alot!
Avatar    Tue. 7/9/13 2:58pm Uncle Michael:

Thanks for the lobstah, Tony.
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 2:59pm Jeremy N:

Each one of those cassettes was a gem! Thanks Tony!
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 3:00pm Tony Coulter:

Thanks for tuning in, everybody! See you next week....
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 3:00pm RUBBER BAND:

can you tell what the concept is of Jesse's show?
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 3:01pm Tony Coulter:

You mean this evening? Not sure -- tune in and find out!
Avatar Tue. 7/9/13 3:02pm Tony Coulter:
