Do they have a decent beer selection, Van?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26pm
Irene Trudel:

Avatar 12:27pm

You know, they DO have beer but I've only ever been in for lunch from work so have honestly never even looked at what they have...

its a long weekend in canada...this is all so perfect for our bbq

I love it when our local classical WETA radio station plays Miles. Been listening to a lot of non-classical trumpeteers lately though, mostly Maynard Ferguson & Herb Alpert.
  12:43pm
Sean in Bristol, UK:

Maynard Ferguson, that's a blast from the past, he had a ridiculous range on the trumpet,
Avatar 12:44pm
Van in DC:

Ya. Saw him live in Dallas waaaaay back when. Idolized him. I was a music performance major and tried to mimic him...nobody could.
  12:46pm
don d:

The Flock, on vinyl, I suspect. And a great 1st album.
  12:51pm
Sean in Bristol, UK:

Blood Sweat and Tears, Irene you are spoiling us with some great tunes
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm
Irene Trudel:

@don d, what gave it away? The massive amount of warm, friendly, crackling sounds?
  12:53pm
jan:

The Last Gasp of Blood Sweat and Tears, before David Clayton Thomas got to 'em.
  12:56pm
don d:

Irene, And a beautiful sound it remains-
  12:57pm
Andrew:

I saw The Flock play back when I was in high school,
one of the few bands I saw back then, the Mothers of Invention being another (they had just absorbed The Turtles).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm
Irene Trudel:

@jan, Child is Father to the Man remains the only BS&T that holds together even today for me.

Brian in UK:

Hello Irene & listeners. This set puts me in mind of McKendree Spring. For no perticular reason.
  1:02pm
Sean in Bristol, UK:

Dear Trukeepers, got to go, off to see "Beware of Mr Baker" at a wonderful venue in Bristol called The Watershed, thank goodness for this place, they show some quality movies and the beer is awesome. Irene, thank you for the great show as always, have a great week everyone
Avatar 1:02pm
Van in DC:

Um. Speaking of Maynard Ferguson. That Blood, Sweat & Tears? "Musician Al Kooper has written and stated that Maynard Ferguson's orchestra inspired Kooper's formation of the band Blood, Sweat & Tears." wow.
  1:04pm
jan:

@Irene- I'd be happy if you spun some more BS&T and would be pleased to hear some Blues Project...if you are taking listener requests. @Van- Kooper's Hammond B3- added such a distinctive sound to the music he was involved with. @Irene- good to hear your selections from MOV because a lot of it wasn't so pleasant to hear- IMHO

2d and final album by The Flock called Dinosaur Swamps --

Oh, McKendree Spring! @Brian, I have a couple of their albums at home. Precious little was available for download when I last looked. Maybe I can find something to play, if not today then next week.

Hey Brian-If you are in the States on May 26, you can see McKendree Spring-playing in Nashville. I saw them in July, 1970, opening for Tull.

Avatar 1:46pm

Irene - for your bird recording what kind of mic did you use?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00pm
Irene Trudel:

I'm not remembering exactly. it was either the built in mics on the Sony PCM-D50 recorder. Or I might've used this great little mic I bought years ago from a company called Microphone Madness: microphonemadness.com...
