Hello Bill, w41, Looms & listeners.
Chickens are fed, dog walked. Waiting for pearls from Reverend Bill.
This Gaint Ant Farm reminds me of a Delgados song,
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 3:31am Bill Mac:

Morning Gents. The rain followed me all the way up here this morning, but here we are. I think I pulled some gems this evening, but what do i know. I just hope you're amused.
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 3:31am Andy in Berlin:

Pouring the coffee and signing in. Bill did you ever imagine you'd be doing a breakfast show?
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 3:35am Bill Mac:

Ah yes Andy, modern technology saves the day once again. I wouldn't call a lot of this breakfast music though, much as I like most of it for morning listening
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 3:43am Jay/London:

Good Morning Bill and all so glad it's the weekend .. have to have root work done on my teeth cost about £300 +
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 3:45am Bill Mac:

Yikes, yep isn't nature wonderful?! The age thing wouldn't be so bad if it didn't involve falling apart.
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 3:48am Jay/London:

moon duo was on my mp3 thing only last week .. yeah bill just wonderful ;)
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 3:48am Brian in UK:

Gooooood morning to you too, Bill
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 3:49am Jay/London:

Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 3:50am Andy in Berlin:

@Jay - doesn't the National Health pay for that?
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 3:50am Stanley:

Gooooood morning to you too, Bill (second attempt)
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 3:52am Jay/London:

yes Andy they pay some of the costs for teeth, If I went private it would be over £1,000
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 3:53am Looms:

The Surplus 1980 track sounded really great indeed.
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 3:53am KP:

Good morning Bill! And what a fine stormy one it is!
Avatar Sat. 5/11/13 3:57am w41:

Surplus 1980 was the best, yeah.

Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 4:00am Brian in UK:

Yea Bill I never got Bil Nelson. Whatever that means.
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 4:01am Andy in Berlin:

@ we have to pay for part of the cost of crowns but not root canal. Or not yet...
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 4:01am Brian in UK:

But thereagain I am not an electric guitar fan. Shall I leave now?
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 4:02am Brian in UK:

@Andy We have to pay for crowns on the heads of our royal family.
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 4:02am Stanley:

I'm with you on the Bill Nelson, Bill. Thought the band was much overshadowed by what else was happening at the time (mid-late seventies)
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 4:03am Jay/London:

@ Andy In Berlin sounds about the same as here then for dentists
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 4:04am Stanley:

its Third Uncle, Jim but not as we know it.
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 4:04am Jay/London:

be bop deluxe was one of those bands that got overlooked at the time me thinks
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 4:08am Andy in Berlin:

A friend of mine once said that you know you're getting old when you spend more time talking about ailments and less time talking about sex.
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 4:09am Bill Mac:

I would imagine you folks might remember the BBDs Axe Victim cover art....
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 4:10am Bill Mac:

@Andy Uh oh...
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 4:10am Stanley:

I've outsourced my memory to the Internet
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 4:12am Brian in UK:

It is the monkey on the back as George Melly said.
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 4:13am Brian in UK:

Bill was this Stray originally on Transatlantic?
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 4:16am Bill Mac:

Yeah Brian, all of the artists on this comp were from the Transatlantic stable.
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 4:16am KP:

Hey Bill I am now Facebook friends with Roger Earl, the Savoy Brown and Foghat drummer. Quite an honor!
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 4:21am Brian in UK:

Soft Machine did some Pataphysics stuff based on Alfred Jarry's work. He was the creator of Ubu Roi, Pere Ubu's passion.
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 4:22am Bill Mac:

KP - I knew who you were talking about before I finished your message. Pretty cool. How did you manage that? Caught Foghat back in the day when they were at the height of their success.
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 4:28am Brian in UK:

'pataphysics - imaginary solutions to as yet unasked questions. (very crude description)
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 4:30am KP:

The primo band though was Savoy Brown with the Foghat gang and Chris Youlden on vocals. I saw them on a sweltering night in the city, outdoors, and he came out in a full length fur coat and a top hat. He had incredible stage presence and a dramatic voice. In fact one of their best songs was called "Life's One Act Play."
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 4:33am KP:

I met a work friend of my wife's named Mona. I said you must be tired of that song. What song is that? Mona! The Stones! Never heard of it.
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 4:34am Brian in UK:

@KP Were they originally called Savoy Brown Blues Band?
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 4:36am Brian in UK:

There are so many complications out these days, best thing about CDs.
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 4:37am Bill Mac:

KP I don't really even bother to talk to other folks about ANY music - most people don't get it. Most people seem to know only what's the top 30 is at the moment. Sometimes I think I'm the one with the problem.
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 4:38am Andy in Berlin:

@Brian - whether they were specifically called that or not, that's certainly what they were. I saw them a couple of times, they put on a great show.
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 4:39am Looms:

oops!
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 4:39am Andy in Berlin:

@ Bill - that's what I call service! I love this Savoy Brown song. At any speed.
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 4:40am KP:

Hey Savoy Brown with Chris Youlden. What service!
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 4:40am Bill Mac:

Ugh.... set at the right speed but the pitch slide was turned waaaay down.... wanted to do the song justice.... this is my favorite Savoy Brown tune.
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 4:41am Andy in Berlin:

yeah, what a great voice
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 4:42am Andy in Berlin:

I think my favorite might be Lousiana Blues but this is great too.
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 4:43am KP:

So they dumped Youlden or he quit. Lonesome Dave became the lead singer. Then he and Tone Stevens and Roger Earl left Kim Simmons and formed Foghat.
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 4:45am Jay/London:

hey bill did you look up Alan freeman? after last weeks show
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 4:45am KP:

I saw the latest Savoy Brown. A trio with Kim singing.
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 4:46am Brian in UK:

You need a Zigzag family tree.
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 4:48am beavoux:

Youlden left in 1970
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 4:49am beavoux:

After Raw Sienna
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 4:54am Looms:

Lyrics are pretty funny :)
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 4:55am Jay/London:

very sweet voice bill
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 4:55am Bill Mac:

Looms Can you enlighten us a bit?
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 4:55am Bill Mac:

Why thank you Jay!
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 4:56am Jay/London:

Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 4:56am Looms:

Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 5:05am beavoux:

Thought that Beefheart song was longer
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 5:06am Brian in UK:

Crowns seem to be a recurring theme.
  Sat. 5/11/13 5:11am Emile:

Morning Bill's gang... Streaming problems today but with you in spirit
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 5:11am Bill Mac:

Hey Emile, hope you are well... get that stream fixed!!!
  Sat. 5/11/13 5:16am Emile:

Whatever you did worked, Bill. I'm here.
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 5:18am Bill Mac:

Just lit a fire uttered a few incantations and sacrificed a virgin.... piece of cake
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 5:21am Jay/London:

you have virgins on tap just in case hey Bill ;)
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 5:30am Stanley:

A Blue Million Miles. Possibly the only weak track on what is a perfect album.
But this waa-waa wakajawaka action is fine-fine me.
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 5:32am Andy in Berlin:

I love this Captain Beefheart song but I have to say this is not the greatest cover. I wonder how many of his songs are covereed? He doesn't seem like the easiest artist to cover.
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 5:33am Stanley:

Clear Spot is in my all time top 10.
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 5:34am Brian in UK:

Gimme some ole stale beans.
Avatar Sat. 5/11/13 5:34am w41:

Sonic Youth yeah! Lee Ranaldo doing Electricity is pretty neat
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 5:34am Brian in UK:

There was a Liverpool band called Ella Guru.
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 5:37am Andy in Berlin:

I saw Captain Beefheart a couple of times and they totally tore it up. The Drumbo band was here but I didn't get to go.
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 5:38am Andy in Berlin:

Beefheart addendum - it was so amazing to see a band who could turn on a dime like that
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 5:43am Brian in UK:

Cookin' today, Bill.
Avatar    Sat. 5/11/13 5:44am Bill Mac:
