Don't look now, but I think a WFMU colleague did an all "shitty gratuitous sax solo" marathon premium.

My instincts tell me that every word of every song T-Model sings is 100% true.
Avatar Fri. 5/10/13 9:31am Jeff Golick:

That shit drives me crazy, but I'd guess that for most casual listeners (or anyone less than obsessed with the notion of THE ORIGINAL), it's a non-issue.
Avatar Fri. 5/10/13 9:31am Doug Schulkind:

Maybe even 110%.
Avatar Fri. 5/10/13 9:32am Jeff Golick:

Also, "casual listeners" is not a phrase I associate with anyone tuned in to WFMU. I can explain what it means, if anyone needs a refresher.
Avatar    Fri. 5/10/13 9:33am listener james from westwood:

i was depressed to learn that material as recent as 2 decades ago has been re-recorded. and i could hear the difference. i just wanted this goofy little one-hit wonder that came out right around senior year of college and got this different pile of notes from itunes.
Avatar    Fri. 5/10/13 9:33am Alex In Illinois:

Good morning. My "smartphone" was having issues with the app this morning, so I could not listen in my car on the way to work, so I missed the frist 25 minutes. Dang!

@Hyde: You took the words right out of my . . . . fingers (New York's alright . . . ).
Avatar    Fri. 5/10/13 9:37am ndbob:

re-recordings also drive me crazy - just totally disappointing
Avatar    Fri. 5/10/13 9:37am Uncle Michael:

You can't get there from here.
Avatar    Fri. 5/10/13 9:42am Alex In Illinois:

That list of 80's Sax solos does not mention anything by Lene Lovich! For me, the 1980's were defined by Lene Lovich, Talking Heads, Devo, Oingo Boingo, Black Uru, Fela Anikalupo Kuti and the rise of "world Music" and the golden age of Hip-Hop.
Avatar Fri. 5/10/13 9:44am Doug Schulkind:

Avatar    Fri. 5/10/13 10:08am listener james from westwood:

the only way i see doug playing a crappy set is if he plays that one screamin' jay constipation cut on a 30-minute loop.

Avatar    Fri. 5/10/13 10:18am Alex In Illinois:

@Listener James from Westwood: I saw Screamin' Jay perform that song live! He actually made those noises with his mouth! All to that 12-bar blues progression with the relief delivered in the final V-IV-I.

Will the archive be whole healthy normal-like if I go back to catch the end of the last set where the stream and my provider connection and my computer -- in a perfect trifukta -- seemingly went all confuseriffic at once?

@still b/p if you scroll back far enough you can see what some call the big bang.

I was gonna use the boiler excuse for the mic breaks I wasn't planning to do. Now I need a plan B.
Avatar Fri. 5/10/13 11:46am Doug Schulkind:

The archive will not have the "lost" mic break. I'm afraid only I got to enjoy it. It was SO good, too. None of the music should be lost on the archive.

There is a sense of a runaway horse pulling a postillion on the verge of being out of control BUT not quite.
Loving it, Doug.

Poig Nancy sounds like a not-so-soft someone who might've hung around the Five Points in Gangs of New York.
Avatar Fri. 5/10/13 12:03pm Doug Schulkind:

@still b/p
