Second time in as many days as I'm hearing a set start out with new SLR releases (including another song from this very single). My next paycheck may go straight to that record label.

Evening, Joseph. For some reason "She's so 1970s" doesn't sound as weird in 2013 as I thought it would.
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 12:52am Joe McG:

Hi, everyone I haven't said hi to yet!
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 12:53am Cheri Pi:

Do they really still call themselves the *Young* Rascals?
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 1:07am Cheri Pi:

Oooooo, Kurt, I had no idea
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 1:08am Matt from Springfield:

Prince played "Guitar"? Ziggy also played guitar.

Hi Joe and Surface Noisers of the Night!
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 1:08am Cheri Pi:

I can't wait for Duane's premium...sigh
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 1:09am Cheri Pi:

Heya MFS!
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 1:09am b:

Actually Ziggy played geetahh
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 1:09am KP:

No. No more "Young." I think of them as that though and feel it sounds funny w/o it.

Well HELLO CP! Pleasant surprise seeing you here! :) All of these "daytime celebs" here, actually!
  Sun. 4/28/13 1:11am Ralphine:

Prince borrowed Kirk Douglas's guitar when he was on Jimmy Fallon's show and broke it at the end of his number.
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 1:12am Matt from Springfield:

@b: Ziggy played geeeetaaahhhhhhhhhhhhaahh, to include a bassline ending.

@KP: The Rascals were once "Young" in the 60s, then they weren't. Now not sure what to call them. But, as long as there's Felix Cavaliere in the lineup?
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 1:13am b:

geeeetaaahhhhhhhhhhhhaahh, yes!
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 1:13am Joe McG:

@Raphine: Ha ha! @Matt: Hey, Matt, all springy in Springfield this evening?
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 1:14am KP:

Lonely Planet Boy, I had misgivings about broadway aspect but they proved unfounded. Everything was great.
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 1:14am b:

So, who is more gay, Ziggy or Hedwig?
  Sun. 4/28/13 1:14am Ralphine:

Kirk was pissed.
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 1:15am b:

And which of them would rock my hat better?
  Sun. 4/28/13 1:15am jeff-m:

evening sir. been helping me keep up the pace and crank out some chores. great show tonight!
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 1:16am b:

Joe the Pro, Mr. Eclectic, I'm diggin' it as usual!
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 1:16am Matt from Springfield:

Hey Joe, diggin' this Slavic Soul Party! It May be getting even more Springy in Springfield!

@b: Ziggy sounds the more gay, but I'm certain Hedwig would rock your hat.
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 1:17am Joe McG:

Jeff-m! Thanks, man! Hey, b, thanks!
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 1:18am b:

"Otis! My man!"
Sun. 4/28/13 1:18am Lonely Planet Boy:

hey b:
I was just typing to Joe that he was "covering a lot of ground tonight" when your message popped up.
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 1:20am b:

Watch out, LPB, he just might slip in something from the '30s when you least expect it!
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 1:21am Matt from Springfield:

@Joe: I just heard a great single from Martha & The Vandellas later years, "Tear It On Down" from '72. It's a great one!
Sun. 4/28/13 1:21am Lonely Planet Boy:

b:
That's fine w/ me.
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 1:21am Matt from Springfield:

@b: I hope it's a radio broadcast "transcription"!
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 1:22am Julie:

Something kinda T. Rex about this
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 1:23am b:

Or something from "Alfred Hitchcock Presents Ghost Stories for Young People."
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 1:24am b:

@julie, good call
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 1:25am b:

Little records, big holes! Little records, big holes!
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 1:29am Matt from Springfield:

Too bad it's only for a half hour, b! Since they're at 45 rpm, how about 45 minutes of 45 revolutions per minute? :)
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 1:31am b:

Matt.....don't tease me......
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 1:33am b:

Ow, sticks to my bridgework...
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 1:33am Matt from Springfield:

I'm no accordionist, so I don't tease, or squeeze...

Ooooh!!! Ohio Players?! Ohio Players?!
Wow, Tommy Roe, this is one of his better ones!!
Sun. 4/28/13 1:34am Lonely Planet Boy:

I have this 45 on the ABC Dunhill label. Also have Dizzy, too.
  Sun. 4/28/13 1:35am KP:

Ooh. Sore point in household. I can't get off work to go to Tommy Roe Monday. Joe, can you work for me.
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 1:35am b:

QUATROOOOOOOOOOO!
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 1:35am Julie:

I have DGD on a 45 too! I was obsessed for a while with getting all the Suzi b-sides
  Sun. 4/28/13 1:35am KP:

MJM is enjoying this though.
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 1:35am Matt from Springfield:

@LPB: To Clay Pigeon, the ABC Dunhill label can do no wrong.

Glam Suzi!!!!
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 1:36am Matt from Springfield:

Hey Julie! What's your fave Suzi B-side?
Sun. 4/28/13 1:36am Lonely Planet Boy:

Bell label was the best! Quatro and The Sweet.
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 1:38am KP:

Suzie Quatro was also big with Brit teeny boppers in a certain era.
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 1:38am kevin g:

Interesting section in Suzi Quatro's Wikipedia entry: en.wikipedia.org...
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 1:40am Matt from Springfield:

"Raparata and the Delrons"?? Don't know who they are, but this sounds good, kind of Shirelles like.
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 1:41am Julie:

Peter Peter. She did eventually put out a cd collection called A's and B's
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 1:43am KP:

Matt, just saw your Rascals comment. This was a big broadway production of reunion of original lineup. It was produced by Steve Van Zandt. And Eddie Brigati easily steals the show
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 1:45am b:

Why had I never heard that Phil Seymour track? Solid, solid power pop. Another one buried by a backward-thinking record company (or one going broke) I suppose. Good stuff.
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 1:45am Matt from Springfield:

Thanks Julie and KP!
I once saw Felix Cavaliere on a package tour, incidentally.
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 1:48am Joe McG:

@b: Actually, that was the b-side of his biggest hit, "Precious to Me," which was Top 30 or Top 20 or something like that.
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 1:49am b:

Yeah, ok, I sure remember Precious to Me. Another long-list b-side then. Nice!
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 1:49am KP:

In Va? My in-laws were with us and prob saw same show in Alexandria area.
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 1:51am Matt from Springfield:

@KP: Yes, although at Wolf Trap.
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 1:54am Julie:

Joe your Singles File is always awesome.
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 1:55am b:

Joe, have you ever heard Conley's tribute to Otis Redding? b-side of his Obladi Oblada.
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 1:55am KP:

That's it. They are the rulers of the package tours .
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 1:56am Joe McG:

@Julie: Thanks! @b: I have, b! I kinda thought about playing it next to the Wilson Pickett one, but that's too calculated for Single File!
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 1:56am Matt from Springfield:

Do you like sweet soul music? Arthur Conley does, and so do I.
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 1:57am KP:

Don't think I've ever Arthur Conley outside of the obvious. Good one Joe.
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 1:58am KP:

He just compared himself to Otis Redding! That takes hutzpah, as we say on LI.
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 1:59am b:

Otis was Conley's mentor. He's givin' the man his props.
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 2:02am KP:

He should have been his successor. Tremendous talent.
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 2:03am b:

I reached into *MY* box of 45s randomly to see what came up and how it would measure up. Ricky Nelson's version of "I Got a Woman." Joe rules. :-)
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 2:03am KP:

b: also I didn't know that. Thanks.
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 2:06am Matt from Springfield:

Joe rules! And anyone with a box of 45s also rules! :)
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 2:06am b:

@Joe: A little cheese goes well with most things.

@KP: Always happy to serve in whatever humble way my trivial brain may fit!

Gnite all, late here in the midsouth.
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 2:07am Julie:

I love that old bell label, the silver
  Sun. 4/28/13 2:07am purpuraj:

havent been around in a while, but Im happy to be back! onward!
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 2:10am Matt from Springfield:

G'nite b!
Onward, and UPWARD purpuraj!
  Sun. 4/28/13 2:11am amEdeo:

Goodnight everybodies. I will see you in my dreams.
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 2:12am KP:

He stopped loving her Friday.
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 2:13am Matt from Springfield:

amEdeo dreams on - as does Lily! I'll pass by you later under sleep, good night!
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 2:13am KP:

This time he's over her for good.
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 2:14am Matt from Springfield:

@KP: Doug Schulkind said that "he stopped living here today"

I also like Waylon the best of those, but George J. is not to be forgotten!
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 2:15am Matt from Springfield:

I also like Johnny Paycheck's 'tude and well written country songs. RIP to him as well.
Sun. 4/28/13 2:16am amEdeo (in dreams):

seeeeee youuuu theeereeeee
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 2:17am Joe McG:

Hey, purpuraj! Sleep well, amEdeo! @Matt: Yes, I agree, Paycheck was uniquely gifted.
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 2:20am Matt from Springfield:

"Where All Good Daddies Go" is a tender classic a lot of people might not know he did. Thanks for making it a Father's Day regular around here!
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 2:20am KP:

People can have favorites but really as a country singer no one's close to Jones. I was in Nashville when He stopped loving her first hit. It was absolutely everywhere. It was the last great country song and maybe the end of the genre.
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 2:25am Joe McG:

No, KP, I wouldn't go that far, but it sure must have been a doozy.
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 2:27am Matt from Springfield:

To no one's surprise, Nashville radio has been playing nothing but No-Show this weekend.
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 2:29am Joe McG:

Is that right, Matt? That's nice!
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 2:32am Matt from Springfield:

Yeah, "Almost Persuaded"!

@Joe: I heard a news item on that--maybe Classical isn't, but come on! They should be hip enough to realize that this stuff is "future Classical" music from Nashville, and deserves a tribute! :)
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 2:34am Joe McG:

I just watched that video that George did with his daughter and I thought the song was kind of touching.
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 2:34am KP:

Joe, play Radio Lover but don't follow the example of the DJ in the song.
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 2:36am Matt from Springfield:

I once heard a George J. song on Willie's Roadhouse sirius channel, where the narrator is saddened by the death of Elvis, and since he just broke up with his girl he pours whiskey in a Flintstones glass.

The tagline: "Yabba dabba do / The King is gone / And so are you!" a country breakup song, Elvis tribute AND novelty chorus all in one! Why it took them 30 years to give him a Kennedy Center Honor for that is criminal!! ;)
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 2:36am Joe McG:

@KP: Ha ha! I'm just going to do one more, I think. I've played a few faves. I'll leave the big tributes to others.
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 2:37am KP:

I saw Garth Brook's first performance on Nashville Now. I thought this guy is going to be huge and he just killed country music.
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 2:37am Joe McG:

@Matt: Well, I could play "Yabba Dabba Do" if you really want me to, but....no, maybe not!
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 2:40am Matt from Springfield:

Only if you have it, Joe!
But even if you don't, it's well worth mentioning, so I encourage others to seek it out!
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 2:40am KP:

I have to go, great stuff Joe. See ya Matt
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 2:40am Matt from Springfield:

Good night KP! See ya around!
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 2:44am Julie:

Is this the southern Stephen Wright?
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 2:55am Matt from Springfield:

Wow, a great Lee Hazlewood style! A more "mainstream" type of country of the early 60s, thanks Joe (and Light in the Attic, as usual)!
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 2:57am Joe McG:

Goodnight, everybody! Thanks for listening!
  Sun. 4/28/13 2:57am 12539:

Thank you, Joe.
Avatar Sun. 4/28/13 2:59am Matt from Springfield:

All right! Many thanks Joe!
Have a good night (and great week!) everyone!
