Avatar Tue. 4/23/13 12:46pm shimmy:

This is exactly what I imagined Elephant Stone sounded like. Although I was also reminded of Elephant's Memory
Avatar Tue. 4/23/13 12:46pm Mike Sin:

Alrerady enjoying today's show, Joe. Nice!
  Tue. 4/23/13 12:48pm Jack:

that was epic, Joe
Avatar Tue. 4/23/13 12:49pm shimmy:

Jorge from Vigilantes said he had to get everyone in the band up by 10AM today. He had a look of grim determination on his face.
Avatar Tue. 4/23/13 12:50pm shimmy:

They WERE awful. I was just thinking of the name and it's "quasi-psych" intentions...
Avatar Tue. 4/23/13 12:51pm Mike Sin:

Hold on a second, the sax work in Elephant's Memory is quite more robust than that in Elephant Stone! :)
Avatar    Tue. 4/23/13 12:53pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...think E.Memory were loose & rockin' in an early-70's NY way that served Lennon well
...nothing to do w/ bitchin' Garage/Psych like this...
Avatar Tue. 4/23/13 12:55pm tim from champaign:

Does anyone know how/why the Red Sox adopted Sweet Caroline? Just curious, because I found that surprising in the age of Jock Jams and Crazy Train as sports music.
Avatar    Tue. 4/23/13 12:56pm Julie:

WTH? Why does Neil Diamond sound kinda like Donovan?? I will have to check out this collection.
  Tue. 4/23/13 12:58pm Woo:

Red Sox: I always thought it was because Kevin Millar did a karaoke video of SC but research shows there's no great story behind it. Somebody just played it one day and it caught on.

Avatar Tue. 4/23/13 12:59pm Rob (from Mt Hope):

rumored that the music director liked the song
Avatar Tue. 4/23/13 1:05pm efd:

per a Boston Globe story from 2005, the woman in charge of selecting music in the late '90s/early '00s started playing it because she'd heard it at other sporting events. From there it snowballed, and became a regular 8th inning thing in 2002 after the new/current ownership group took over.
Avatar Tue. 4/23/13 1:06pm Mike Sin:

Originally, it was a toss up between "Sweet Caroline" and "The Pot Smoker's Song" (see "Velvet Gloves and Spit" LP (<-- jeez!)) to be sung during Red Sox games, but a lot of the fans couldn't remember the words of the latter, so "Sweet Caroline" won out. True story. ;)
Avatar Tue. 4/23/13 1:08pm SmokinJ:

Now if I could only forget Sweet Caroline...
Avatar    Tue. 4/23/13 1:09pm Mike East:

Hey Mike Sin - the record store I went to on Saturday was blasting your fill in. Great music to buy records to!

Avatar Tue. 4/23/13 1:26pm Mike Sin:

re: Lykes of Us -- the most unusual drumming on a "garage rock" record. The style is so much "older," as it were. It's cool, but I'm wondering if the band's actual drummer played on this.
Avatar Tue. 4/23/13 1:33pm Joe B:

bear with us! chaos setting in! Bands running late, one of the singers has gone MIA, so they are scrambling to re-learn their songs!
