Avatar Tue. 4/2/13 6:07pm Artie:

And, out of respect, I shall limbo beneath your shadow.
Avatar Tue. 4/2/13 6:08pm Doug Schulkind:

Don't singe yourself on the tiki-fire!
Avatar Tue. 4/2/13 6:12pm Doug Schulkind:

I say unreservedly and unhyperbolically, this album "Staying on the Watch," is one of the greatest records ever made.
Avatar Tue. 4/2/13 6:20pm listener james from westwood:

i can hear why!
Avatar Tue. 4/2/13 6:22pm Holly in NC:

hello Doug & other friends! So happy to be here (listener-wise) & here in Durham physically. House/dog-sitting in a rarified subdivision in a nearby town - so rarefied that it's an hour away, though the town itself is only 15 minutes up road - anyway, had to escape for a few hours. Haven't seen anyone non white - or non blonde - for 3 days. Not kidding! My cool client only lives there as her house burned down last year, and this is where her h/o insurers are "keeping" her. It's a Stepford/Triffid plot, I tell you.
Avatar Tue. 4/2/13 6:23pm ndbob:

Heya Holly!
Avatar Tue. 4/2/13 6:26pm Doug Schulkind:

Hope you left a trail of 45 adapters to follow on your escape out of there, Holly!
Avatar Tue. 4/2/13 6:31pm Doug Schulkind:

In that last interview snippet, Barbara referred to "Zarak." That is her and Sonny's son (now 47), pictured with them on this page.
Avatar Tue. 4/2/13 6:31pm listener james from westwood:

good evening holly! how horrifying about the fire! every time a neighbor's smoke alarm goes off in my apt. complex, i cringe. a confused resident once accidentally summoned the fire dept b/c she stored OLD NEWSPAPERS in her OVEN.
Avatar Tue. 4/2/13 6:33pm Doug Schulkind:

Jesse Kaminsky's show, KAMINSKY KAMOUTSKY, immediately follows here on the stream. Jesse is promising to explore on tonight's program the "bacon bounce." Don't miss it!

Jesse's playlist page is here:
Avatar Tue. 4/2/13 6:36pm ndbob:

Wow James - I've heard of people storing records in their oven.. but newspapers...
Avatar Tue. 4/2/13 6:37pm Doug Schulkind:

How about money? Remember "The Taking of Pelham 1-2-3" ?!
Avatar Tue. 4/2/13 6:39pm Doug Schulkind:

What Donald is doing here is really hard to do. The hard, fast flutter intonation without losing her tone. Wow.
Avatar Tue. 4/2/13 6:39pm ndbob:

and the representative from Louisiana with 40K in his freezer
Avatar Tue. 4/2/13 6:40pm listener james from westwood:

if any future residents here want to burn money, they can give it to me prior to my next vegas trip.
Avatar Tue. 4/2/13 6:41pm Holly in NC:

It's sobering because I think mostly area faculty & RTP computer folks live here, & it's very clear how good, kind social-justice folks can absolutely disengage from real word, because their world is so safe. It's like living in a 50s sit com, updated for helio-parents. Huge yards & greenways, no traffic except for the SUVs carefully & slowly returning home at certain prescribed times, kids out on scooters and bikes & skateboards - all helmeted - soccer & lacrosse nets everywhere, bio-degradable pet poop bags & trash bins in every cul sac (that's a very modern innovation!) for all the many leashed at all times dogs..... I mean it sounds perfect, and in many ways it is, and that's the problem.

I need to explore Barbara Donald's recordings
Avatar Tue. 4/2/13 6:42pm glenn:

one of my favourite films. as far as i'm concerned walter mathau is the most under rated actor ever.
Avatar Tue. 4/2/13 6:44pm Holly in NC:

It's also a good solid 6 miles away from closest grocery store, and further from closest downtown. Suburbia to the extreme.
Avatar Tue. 4/2/13 6:48pm Doug Schulkind:

I am ill that I don't have a copy of Barbara Donald's "Olympia Live" album to play for you. Here is a bio of Barbara that appears on Sonny Simmon's website"
Avatar Tue. 4/2/13 6:50pm Hugo:

But I do!
Avatar Tue. 4/2/13 6:51pm Doug Schulkind:
