Hey, where is everybody?
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:08pm Ike:

They're mostly getting on trains & in cars to head home. Me too, shortly. Hi Wendy.
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:08pm steve:

hey sports fans.
  Tue. 3/26/13 6:09pm Ralphine:

This Petra Haden chick reminds me of Dokaka.
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:09pm steve:

thats a very good observation Ralphine
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:09pm Mike East:

The only thing I know about Derek Jeter is that he was born in my town...and that he is apparently good at baseballing.
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:10pm Dan B From Upstate:

Hey, all.
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:12pm Mike East:

how is it possible that people still don't understand to turn their radio down when they call in?
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:12pm Ken From Hyde Park:

It's USA vs. Mexico tomorrow in World Cup qualifying.
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:12pm Wendy del Formaggio:

Howdy, Ike! Nice to see you. Well, "see". haha
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:12pm Mattt:

NYY are looking to be as good as the '07 Jays this year. V. Wells AND Overbay? Wow
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:14pm Wendy del Formaggio:

I don't give a rat's ass about sports, but I'm happy to hear Bronwyn on the air.
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:16pm Mike East:

I'm with you, Wendy. I'd prefer Cheesy talk
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:16pm steve:

same here Wendy. also, i love the name "Sportsy Talk", because it sounds so un-masculine.
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:17pm Ike:

Me four.
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:17pm Wendy del Formaggio:

Mike, we can talk about the sport of chasing wheels of cheese down big hills. WOOOO!
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:17pm sugarwolf:

mike east: I wonder the same thing (about the not turning down the radio)
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:19pm sugarwolf:

Newburgh is in Orange County! It is across the river from Beacon.
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:19pm Mike East:

I could get into that sport, Wendy...as long as the prize is you get to keep the cheese.

@sugarwolf- I would expect more from FMU listeners, too. That was a lesson I can remember learning at a very young age. dummies.
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:19pm Dan B From Upstate:

Toughest part of brackets is seeding. You want to ensure a fair fight in the end.
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:19pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Newburgh, NY, is on the west side of the Hudson River, in Orange County. Interstate 84 goes over the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge.
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:24pm Danne D:

Yay sportsytalk :)
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:26pm steve:

go team
  Tue. 3/26/13 6:30pm Ralphine:

I used to watch Magilla Gorilla on TV when I was a kid.
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:31pm Matt from Springfield:

GoooooOOOOO Thunkers! :)
Glad to hear you guys back!
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:32pm Matt from Springfield:

I also love "Sportsy Talk", it's sports talk, but not "orthodox" Sports Talk!
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:33pm Danne D:

So Costa Rica's protest of the World Cup snow match against the U.S. was denied.

This reminds me of what I think is probably the funniest FIFA ruling ever:
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:35pm Matt from Springfield:

"Hope will not desert a man, even at death."
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:36pm Danne D:

I care, Bronwyn :)
I care.
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:37pm hamburger:

I like my sports / not so much Amurrrrican Sports / mostly no chance to see it overseas I guess.
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:37pm steve:

a WFMU Intramural Softball Team would be the best thing ever
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:38pm Matt from Springfield:

You do care, Danne! Even for NASCAR! Even heading down south to see NASCAR! :)
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:38pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Well, of course they didn't invalidate the Uzbekistan-Bahrain result. The referee committed a technical error, but not an egregious technical error.
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:39pm Matt from Springfield:

@steve Listeners would be more concerned with what song is playing while they're at bat, instead of trying to hit the ball! ;)
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:40pm Matt from Springfield:

There's Yankees, and anti-Yankees. You don't even need to know about baseball to fit into that dichotomy.
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:41pm Matt from Springfield:

The Wash Nats now, baby!
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:41pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

Expos games were great. Dirt cheap and in a very Soviet building, and always great young talent.
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:41pm uuee:

Hi Bronwyn, I sent a book to you c/o WFMU, over a month ago...do you have a mailbox at the station? It's by P. O'Brian, a Welsh story..did you receive it?
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:42pm steve:

Matt i think whatever happens, it would be the most entertaining thing imaginable.
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:42pm Danne D:

@Ken From Hyde Park.

They DID invalidate the result.

Originally Uzbekistan had won 1-0. They protested that the referee screwed up and they unfairly were denied a penalty kick. They asked that FIFA award them a 3-0 victory.

FIFA basically said "You're right, Uzbekistan. The referee screwed up. Therefore the ENTIRE game should be replayed." Basically the Uzbeks screwed themselves by getting greedy and making this protest.
  Tue. 3/26/13 6:42pm Ralphine:

Not every school has a nuclear reactor, Bronwyn.
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:43pm Danne D:

(in the do-over game Uzbekistan tied Bahrain 1-1). They lost the other leg and it cost them a chance to play for a spot in the World Cup.
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:43pm Matt from Springfield:

Florida Redneck Riviera University and Strip Mall.
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:44pm Dan B From Upstate:

I guess taco bell is the most common first date location up around here.
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:45pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@Danne - Back to Reading Comprehension 101 for me.
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:45pm Danne D:

LOL Tebow was at the airport where Wichita State was at the same time. Thus the pep talk was impromptu.
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:45pm Danne D:

God decided Wichita State deserved Tim Tebow.

Bronwyn, please don't get me started on home-schooling.
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:45pm Matt from Springfield:

I really hate that NC has West Carolina and East Carolina Universities, Americans are so poor with geography, they'll think that "East Carolina" is a state!!!
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:46pm Danne D:

East Carolina home of former Bengals QB Jeff Blake.
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:46pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

The WFMU of motor sports is unquestionably the 24 Hours of LeMons: all cars under $500 total for car and parts (except safety equipment). Resourcefulness is ultimately prized higher than winning the race. www.24hoursoflemons.com
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:46pm steve:

Bart gets to sit in the front seat 'cause he's a good guy at sports
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:47pm Danne D:

@Bronwyn - highlights of the US-Costa Rica soccer game in the snow if you missed it :)
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:47pm BadGuyZero:

@Pete: I read about that in an auto mag several years ago. I want to compete in it some day. Maybe Danne and I will form an alliance and make it happen.
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:47pm Ken From Hyde Park:

How come New Mexico made the tournament? We're letting other countries play now?
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:47pm Matt from Springfield:

@Danne If East Carolina becomes good enough at football, maybe it should be a state! ;)
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:48pm Danne D:

@BGZ while my dad was an auto mechanic alas the only automotive skill he passed on to me was the innate ability to sense if something's wrong with my car.
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:48pm Danne D:

@M_f_S East Carolina has had some good teams.
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:49pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

Tim Tebow can tell them that if they ever do a little better than average, they can count on failing the next year in a role no one understands.
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:51pm BadGuyZero:

@Danne: I can figure out how to repair things on old cars, but not these newfangled bastards with their computer chips in the engines. Like Rain Man I'm an excellent driver.
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:51pm BadGuyZero:

Now I want to listen to Slayer's "Hallowed Point."
  Tue. 3/26/13 6:52pm drewo:

Trying to take up golf out here in the desert. But I haven't gotten further than the driving range. I also thought of bow and arrow target shooting, but I suppose that's more of a hobby. In the meantime road bicycling is my sport of choice.
  Tue. 3/26/13 6:52pm Scores:

Synchronized Lap Dancing!
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:52pm Matt from Springfield:

NO! The gun nuts are hoarding the ammo, that's why! (Or the "tin hats", as the caller calls them.) Since DHS has the Border Patrol and a bunch of other police forces, 1.6 bill bullets a year is probably what they use every year.
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:52pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

LeMons is a blast if you ever have the chance to go. The competitive spirit is matched by the creativity, humor, and mutually-supportive friendly atmosphere.
  Tue. 3/26/13 6:52pm neil:

Bronwyn have you seen the new PGA 2014 video game ad with Arnold Palmer and Tiger Woods? All the violence of golf and none of the humility [sponsorship by cadillac's humble right?]
http://www.youtube.com/user/EASPORTS?v=8cFKBM5adMo [suitable for radio, promise].
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:53pm Matt from Springfield:

There you go, caller.
@Scores SLDing, Rio 2016!!
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:56pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

I went to UMass. Once enough of them get drunk and together, a particular subset of UMass kids thinks nothing about throwing anything nearby at the nearest cop, Yankee fan, or minority. Not a proud reputation in this regard.
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:57pm I X Key!:

Yay it was Thunk Tank
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:57pm Dan B From Upstate:

Thank you for telling me about the 24 hours of LeMons, Pete. I have a new life goal!
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:57pm I X Key!:

Yay Sportsy Talk
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:57pm Danne D:

Have a goodnight Bronwyn :D
Yay Sportsy Talk indeed :)
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:58pm Matt from Springfield:

Wooooo! Jay's German Porno Theme!
Thanks for the. Sportsy Talk, Bronwyn! Have a good evening, Thunkers!! :D
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:58pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

If I was a UMass cop, I'd be sick enough of it to want a tank, too.
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:58pm Dan B From Upstate:

Welcome to the club, Tom Gristow! If Kat were here, I'm sure she'd welcome you, too!
Avatar Tue. 3/26/13 6:59pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

Dan, I have similar vague distant plans with a friend already. You are welcome.
