Tulips on the Organ (In Praise of the Harmonica)  In the grand tradition of WFMU premiums, Bill Mac showcases the magic and splendor that is the harmonica - around the world and throughout the years. A passel of melodies that will prove once and for all that the mouth organ is the sonic superior of the ocarina.

Pledging $75.00 or more gets you one DJ Premium, a WFMU T-shirt and a chance to win the Thirwell 4CD Pack! Pledge here right now!!!

JG Thirlwell’s discography is extensive under many pseudonyms including Foetus, Steroid Maximus, Manorexia and others. He also scores The Venture Brothers, a hit cartoon show on Adult Swim/Cartoon Network. If there is a common thread to his varied musical styles, it is dramatic intensity and evocative, cinematic quality. Thirlwell’s work stretches the gamut from orchestrations, big band, cathartic noise-rock to abstract electronics and sound sculpture, chamber music, serial music and imaginary soundtracks – sometimes all in the same album.

@Bill Mac: our parents were all about vinyls, movies, comics and books, and opposed censorship. Only in retrospect have I realised that not everyone was raised around Zappa albums and watching Evil Dead II.

Ring, ring, I stare at the phone on the wall

Won't you please understand the need in me
So, ring, ring, why don't you give me a call
