Time to start filling time :)
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:01pm Caryn:

Oscar predictions? Really?
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:02pm G:

I love that clanking and squeaking, it's almost like I'm there. There inside the mic!
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:02pm Matt from Springfield:

Ah, Studio "Bockscar" -- delivering a Bomb to all of us!

Hi Ken & Andy & Delayers!
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:02pm Matt from Springfield:

Andy should *try* to make it uncomfortable for the listeners, thus accidentally making it comfortable for us!
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:02pm G:

Group hug!
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:03pm Caryn:

@Matt: Irwin's playlist cut off early, so had no time to tell you about the white squirrel who, in The Kalevala, helps invent beer. That's pretty good for a mythological squirrel too. Though not necessarily as badass as Ratatoskr.
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:04pm Nick the Bard:

i haven't slept since monday night, so don't be dumb on the phones with me >;P
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:04pm Matt from Springfield:

@Caryn: The most CLEVER squirrel of mythology! Finally, something we can actually use! :D
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:04pm Caryn:

Hah, my Irwin post came true! Andy goes straight for the pedophilia!
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:05pm Droll:

Tell me more about the beer inventing squirrel! My hero!
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:07pm G:

Andy had to fucking *read*. BRUTAL.
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:07pm Danne D:

Congrats Ken on your great stand-up routine :)

(Andy was beaming with pride, folks)
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:08pm Matt from Springfield:

Well Eddie Rabbit would be a noteworthy opening act nowadays--considering he's been dead for a while.
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:08pm Dan B From Upstate:

Seth will be fine as long as some simpsons writers are there.
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:08pm Matt from Springfield:

Hey Danne! Did you see Ken's act?
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:09pm G:

@dan b: OH SNAP
Avatar    Wed. 2/20/13 6:09pm cklequ:

@Dan B he'll be fine as long as any writers are there...
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:10pm G:

Ken was King of the Rimshot
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:10pm Matt from Springfield:

Exactly, Dan B!
Conan's too big for that now, but maybe Bill Odenkirk or similar writers will be backstage.
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:10pm Caryn:

@Droll & Matt: Check out the story "A Beer Lay" (book 20, lines 137-416) of The Kalevala. A virgin serving maid creates a white squirrel, a bird and a bee and instructs them to gather things for her to put in barley beer, with the result that the beer ferments and becomes frothy. Thus, modern beer is born.
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:11pm PMD:

I'm sorry I missed Ken's show, and the first 11 minutes of the show! Damnation
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:11pm Mike East:

nice, DD!
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:11pm hamburger:

Oscar prediction sweepstake would be pretty cool
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:12pm G:

Andy's losing the will to predict
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:12pm Matt from Springfield:

Well, question answered Danne/Plant! :)

@Caryn: And humanity remained "beer virgins" no more!
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:13pm Matt from Springfield:

Mel Brooks may well have a blank check for Jews. But that takes a LONG time and a LOT of critical and popular esteem to reach that point.
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:13pm Caryn:

I think that's the difference between the Norwegians and Finns. Their squirrels are all "hey, I'll represent the circle of destruction and rebirth, and tell snarky rumours to eagles and dragons", and the Finnish squirrel is all "hey, let's make a new alcoholic drink!" Our national priorities are different.
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:13pm Danne D:

@M_f_S yes I did - Ken was great.
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:14pm Danne D:

Whoa, they're talking about us!
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:14pm G:

Maybe I found the fatal flaw. I just don't care who wins the top eight categories. How many people do?
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:14pm Danne D:

What's the list of Oscar categories so far? I wanna make picks since I have literally no clue :) That means I should win :)
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:15pm Caryn:

Hey, people saw "Bully"!
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:15pm Matt from Springfield:

@Danne: I'd love to hear Ken's "real" act and not the "7SDized" version of it :)
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:15pm PMD:

THis is the first time I've listened to the show with good earphones. Oh what a difference it makes.
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:15pm Dan B From Upstate:

Another winner from Evan!
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:15pm Danne D:

Ken didn't use my boiler joke, but it was in poor taste so it's just as well
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:15pm Matt from Springfield:

A crowning achievement of our young anti-humorist!
Bravo, Evan!!!!
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:16pm Caryn:

The problem is that with 10 frigging best picture nominees, there's at least 4 that could very easily get it.
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:16pm hamburger:

Lenny Bruce, Richard Pryor, Evan Breckman... it will come!
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:16pm G:

I wonder how many weeks we'll hear the sneeringly enunciated "Shecky" before it gets worn out? :)
  Wed. 2/20/13 6:16pm Christine:

best joke in forever---still laughing!
  Wed. 2/20/13 6:17pm Brett:

Yayy thanks for including animation! :)
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:17pm Danne D:

what's that again
animated feature
best actor
best supporting actor
best actress
best supporting actress

What were the first two?
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:18pm Danne D:

Best Picture
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:18pm G:

Aren't 80% of the voters over 55 or something. Go for the snoozer snob piece, and your odds are good.
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:18pm hamburger:

I am in on this game! Tho I am following the bookies choices
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:19pm Caryn:

Actor: Daniel Day-Lewis.
That's the only one I'm almost 100% sure about. Unless Denzel pulls an upset.
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:19pm Matt from Springfield:

@G: The 55 year old Academy member probably throws the average down! Particularly for music and other "ancient" populated categories.
  Wed. 2/20/13 6:20pm Time Lag:

Jim Carrey for Man in the Moon
-in the 'throwback category'
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:20pm Matt from Springfield:

Meet The Miserables!
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:21pm G:

Andy preferred "More Miserables"
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:21pm Matt from Springfield:

YES Time Lag! Maybe not for "Man in the Moon" necessarily, but why not have a "Throwback" category!!
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:21pm Danne D:

Is best screenplay the 8th category?
Picture, Actor, Supp Actor, Actress, Supp Actress, Director, Animated Feature are the other 7
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:21pm Dan B From Upstate:

I can't play. There aren't any AMC theatres within 50 miles of my house.
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:22pm G:

@Matt: Like old-timers admission to the Baseball Hall of Fame
  Wed. 2/20/13 6:22pm Michael:

'Andy and Shecky' sounds like a Morning Zoo team...didn't S.S.D. do a Morning Zoo episode once?
Avatar    Wed. 2/20/13 6:23pm cklequ:

I've seen one of these films. And hated it. I'm ready to vote.
  Wed. 2/20/13 6:23pm Guillaume:

I'm French and I call it "The Miserables" (OK I liked the movie)
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:24pm Matt from Springfield:

@G: You got it!
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:24pm hamburger:

I'm pretty confident with my oscar picks, not based on who I think should win, but who would in. there's a facebook game you can play on: oscar.go.com
  Wed. 2/20/13 6:24pm Time Lag:

I think a throwback category would contribute to their credibility in the long run. Beats questioning the winners in retrospect.
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:25pm Caryn:

Movie: hmm, I think it's between "Lincoln" and "Argo", because
a)"Zero Dark Thirty" is too soon after "The Hurt Locker"
b) they ain't giving it to "Django"
But "BotSW" or "Les Miz" could pull an upset...
Heck, I'll say "Argo", even though I don't think it should win.
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:25pm Danne D:

Original Screenplay
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:25pm G:

It's actually not a bad idea, Time Lag, and would give people more to talk about than the sometimes kinda mediorce current-year crop
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:26pm Nick the Bard:

If you're gonna call in, at least be listening to the show tonight, ugh...
Wed. 2/20/13 6:26pm listener me from here:

andy, you're always on. except with this shecky thing.
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:26pm Danne D:

I was listening :) They talked fast :)
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:26pm Caryn:

I'm gonna say they give Spielberg the "best director" nod.
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:26pm Matt from Springfield:

If Les Miz doesn't win for "Adapted Screenplay", now THAT would be a huge upset!
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:26pm G:

the repeated "the writers don't really matter" is Ken's revenge for the repeated "Schecky"
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:27pm Matt from Springfield:

@Ken: Everybody knows you don't have to pay taxes *unless* you get caught...
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:27pm Nick the Bard:

Wreck It Ralph was one of the best goddamn movies i've ever fucking seen.
  Wed. 2/20/13 6:27pm Michael:

Kathryn Bigelow made her mark with "Near Dark", really the only vampire movie more about killing people and drinking their blood than anything else.
Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:28pm Matt from Springfield:

For "Skyfall", she may be there performing.

Avatar Wed. 2/20/13 6:45pm Caryn:

@Matt: actually I base it on the fact that Wallis has worn a different puppy purse at every red carpet so far. I suspect she has saved her fave one for the Oscars. But we'll have to wait until Sunday to find out.

Although a lot of insiders say that the way things go with the voting is either:
a) people vote for friends, then people they've worked with, then people they want to work with, then sympathy/"should've won before"
b) others give the paper to their PAs to fill out
