Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 11:46am Tony Coulter:

Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 11:53am Doug Schulkind:

Any requests for the stream before Tony's show begins?
Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 11:54am glenn:

adam carroll? george barnes?
Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 11:57am Doug Schulkind:

Adam Carroll it is. Shockingly, there is no George Barnes on the stream. (This will be rectified.)
Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 12:00pm glenn:

my latest musical obsession -www.youtube.com...
Avatar    Tue. 2/12/13 12:00pm listener james from westwood:

my requests are actually fairly oatmeal-centric, now that tony mentioned it ... (stomach rumbling)
Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 12:01pm SIR LANCELOT PRATT:

Tally ho Tony, tally ho everyone!
Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 12:01pm Doug Schulkind:

Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 12:18pm Tony Coulter:

@ Sir LP: Vertical coma? Swell coma?
Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 12:19pm Tony Coulter:

Or R. Stevie Moore heard through the ceiling....
Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 12:19pm SIR LANCELOT PRATT:

Avatar    Tue. 2/12/13 12:20pm holland oats:

Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 12:20pm Tony Coulter:

More Coma momentarily....
Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 12:22pm SIR LANCELOT PRATT:

Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 12:23pm Tony Coulter:

Hey, Holland Oats!
Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 12:24pm Michael:

Hey TonyC. Like this Makers - is it newish?
Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 12:24pm Tony Coulter:

@ Sir LP: The album operates in the same bailiwick
Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 12:25pm Tony Coulter:

Hey Michael! The Makers track was recorded in the '70s, but is newly reissued.
Avatar    Tue. 2/12/13 12:27pm listener james from westwood:

i'll take hearing r. stevie through the ceiling over many current pop stars singing live in my living room.
Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 12:29pm glenn:

i'm sure there's an r. stevie moore vs. taylor swift mashup somewhere, and if there isn't there should be.
Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 12:38pm Tony Coulter:

Khan (on now) featured Steve Hillage and Dave Stewart (of Egg, Hatfield, National Health)
Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 12:38pm SIR LANCELOT PRATT:

did'nt care much for the I talk cover but this Khan track is great - one of the earliest projects of Steve Hillage - pre Gong any way!
Avatar    Tue. 2/12/13 12:39pm kat330:

@glenn: Have you had an opportunity to see the Space Station overhead yet? We lucked out and got about 5 full mins. viewing it Saturday evening.
Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 12:40pm Tony Coulter:

@ Sir LP: Pre-Gong, post-Arzachel!
Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 12:41pm SIR LANCELOT PRATT:

I listened to MCCHURCH SOUNDROOM - Delusion yesterday so have had a bit of a prog week so far!
Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 12:43pm Tony Coulter:

Haven't heard that one. Lots more prog and psych on tap today -- plus other stuff.
Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 12:44pm SIR LANCELOT PRATT:

did 10cc have some involvement with this album?
Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 12:45pm Tony Coulter:

Not this record -- their first.
Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 12:46pm glenn:

space station. no, i keep forgetting. todays chris hadfield photo. -twitter.com...
i imagine studio p looking like this.
Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 12:47pm SIR LANCELOT PRATT:

Among the members of Rameses was the nucleus of the future 10CC group (Godley Creme Gouldman & Stewart) who played central roles and many superb harmonies and inventive, catchy hooks of this Space Hymn album.
Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 12:48pm Michael:

Jeez - haven't heard this in eons!
Avatar    Tue. 2/12/13 12:49pm kat330:

@glenn: That is one packed work"space"! :)
Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 12:49pm Tony Coulter:

@ Sir LP: Yeah -- they were on "Space Hymn" -- the first album -- but not on "Glass Top Coffin" which was recorded around 4 years later.

@ Michael: They're back!
  Tue. 2/12/13 12:51pm ShallowMinnow:

Any new/obscure Die Trip Computer Die?
Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 12:53pm Tony Coulter:

Hey ShallowMinnow! Not today, but on a future show for sure. Not new stuff, though -- they haven't released anything in a while.
Avatar    Tue. 2/12/13 1:06pm Uncle Michael:

Hello drumheads, et al.
Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 1:06pm Tony Coulter:

Greetings, Uncle Mike!
Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 1:11pm Tony Coulter:

Linda Brunner, on now, was the lead vocalist of Pisces.
Avatar    Tue. 2/12/13 1:21pm kat330:

Finnish?
Avatar    Tue. 2/12/13 1:22pm Uncle Michael:

Just because someone is a Pisces, it doesn't mean they have fins.
Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 1:22pm Tony Coulter:

@ Kat: Yep -- three songs back (the Pekka Streng). I promised the Finnish government I'd play one Finnish track each show.
Avatar    Tue. 2/12/13 1:24pm kat330:

@Tony: I've noticed. I'm their inspector general on this side of the pond.
Avatar    Tue. 2/12/13 1:25pm Brian in UK:

Hello Tony, Sir LP, sad comment the Bonzoes as Vivian was addicted to script drugs at one time.
Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 1:25pm Tony Coulter:

@ Uncle Michael: The Finns do eat an awful lot of fish, though ... so?
Avatar    Tue. 2/12/13 1:26pm Brian in UK:

@glenn I just missed Petunia when they came over the other week. Bugger.
Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 1:26pm Tony Coulter:

Hey, Brian in UK!
Avatar    Tue. 2/12/13 1:28pm Brian in UK:

Hey Tony, some great record label names.
Avatar    Tue. 2/12/13 1:32pm Brian in UK:

I wonder if Ken Market got their album title from a comedy sketch around that time called 'Ethel the Aardvark Goes Quantity Surveying'?
Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 1:34pm Tony Coulter:

'Aard to say.
Avatar    Tue. 2/12/13 1:40pm Brian in UK:

Lawd, I wish I'd worked at skool the rubbish that inhabits my brian. If anyone is interested.....

Avatar    Tue. 2/12/13 1:41pm kat330:

This be interesting.
Avatar    Tue. 2/12/13 1:42pm Uncle Michael:

I'm working at skool. Unfortunately, when I was at skool, I didn't work at it.
Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 1:42pm Tony Coulter:

Flamenco Concrete?
Tue. 2/12/13 1:43pm brueghel the uglier:

Olé!
Avatar    Tue. 2/12/13 1:43pm kat330:

@Brian: Actually foretelling the future in that bit with all the Amazon knockoff titles trying to fool buyers.
Avatar    Tue. 2/12/13 1:44pm kat330:

Flamenconcrete.
Avatar    Tue. 2/12/13 1:46pm kat330:

Castanet 'round my heart...
Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 1:48pm Tony Coulter:

Molé! Molé!
Avatar    Tue. 2/12/13 1:49pm Uncle Michael:

This is a hard show to listen to at workplace volume levels. Too much dynamics!
Tue. 2/12/13 1:50pm brueghel the uglier:

@Kat330 and other finns: Did you know that there is a preety nice Flamencofestivaali every year in Helsinki? 2013 edition started yesterday
Avatar    Tue. 2/12/13 1:51pm kat330:

@brueghel, no doubt not the uglier: I'm only married to a Finn, but that doesn't surprise me. I know they're rabid for the Argentine tango there.
Avatar    Tue. 2/12/13 1:52pm Rich in Washington:

Argh!
I lost the stream for a long time!
What'd I miss?
Avatar    Tue. 2/12/13 1:52pm listener james from westwood:

Flamen' Groovies?
Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 1:53pm Tony Coulter:

Hey Rich! You missed the flamenco-playing aardvark.
Avatar    Tue. 2/12/13 1:53pm kat330:

@LJfW: Ha! I was thinking along those lines, but bit my digits. Something like Flamen' Concrete Blonde.
Avatar    Tue. 2/12/13 1:53pm Rich in Washington:

Dammit!
Avatar    Tue. 2/12/13 1:55pm kat330:

@Rich: That's what happens when you have broccoli for brains. ;)
Avatar    Tue. 2/12/13 2:07pm Rich in Washington:

Dang-blasted stream is in and out constantly. I'll try to stick with it, though.
Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 2:07pm Tony Coulter:

Is Levinia -- as opposed to Lavinia -- a "real" name?
Avatar    Tue. 2/12/13 2:09pm Uncle Michael:

Tony zigs!
Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 2:09pm SIR LANCELOT PRATT:

Tony - what's your favourite:-
Family album
Traffic Album
Roy Harper album?
Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 2:11pm Tony Coulter:

@ Rich and RE in-and-out stream: Anyone else having problems? I'm not....

@ Sir LP: For all three I'd have to think -- don't have an immediate answer....
Avatar    Tue. 2/12/13 2:12pm kat330:

@Tony: All seems OK here, too, even with two radios streaming both GTDR and FMU (yep, multitasking of a sort).
Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 2:13pm Tony Coulter:

@ Uncle Michael: Aren't we all Zig Zag Wanderers here in FMU-land?
Avatar    Tue. 2/12/13 2:14pm kat330:

Really nice, this Groundhogs following that Jethro Tull.
Avatar    Tue. 2/12/13 2:14pm Uncle Michael:

Yes we are. You should play the Balancing Act cover of the Beefheart track for me...as a demonstration.
Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 2:15pm SIR LANCELOT PRATT:

my own personal favourite Jethro Tull album is Benefit - although seems to have bit of a sleeper at the time.
Felt JT changed tack with Aqualung after that.
Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 2:15pm Tony Coulter:

Don't know that! I'll have to look for it....
Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 2:16pm Tony Coulter:

Er, that was addressed to Uncle Michael. I have heard of Aqualung!
Avatar    Tue. 2/12/13 2:16pm Uncle Michael:

I recommend The Balancing Act whole-hardheartedly.
Avatar    Tue. 2/12/13 2:17pm Rich in Washington:

I think the stream problem might be local, here at my workplace but I'm not sure.
Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 2:17pm SIR LANCELOT PRATT:

top 3 Groundhog ALBUMS
- Blues Obituary
-Split
- Thank CFTB
Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 2:17pm Tony Coulter:

@ Sir LP: My fave Jethro T would be either Stand Up or Benefit
Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 2:19pm northguineahills:

This seems like Tony's pop set. Been distracted from commenting until now.
Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 2:20pm Tony Coulter:

Would have a hard time picking among Groundhogs -- they're all so cute.
Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 2:20pm SIR LANCELOT PRATT:

Always had a soft spot for Roy Harper's Flat Baroque and Berserk - his Blonde on Blonde!
Family - Music in a Doll's House is their most psychedelic and interesting in my bloated opinion.
Traffic's first likewise is their most Psyche and best?
Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 2:21pm Tony Coulter:

Hey NGH!

@ Sir LP: Yeah, I'd probably go with the first Traffic album as well.
Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 2:29pm glenn:

Avatar    Tue. 2/12/13 2:31pm Rich in Washington:

I love this song. I can't remember where I heard it the first time, but it always makes me think that this is the kind of music that they'd play for you in one of those suicide parlors in Soylent Green.
Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 2:36pm Tony Coulter:

There is something despairing about it, despite the lyrics.
Avatar    Tue. 2/12/13 2:42pm Rich in Washington:

THis is fantastic, Tony!
Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 2:43pm Michael:

I wish General Chocolate would walk up to my desk right now...
Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 2:45pm Tony Coulter:

@ Rich: Glad you approve! I love Lieutenant Caramel -- who are sort of a group, but mostly just Philippe Blanchard.
Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 2:46pm Tony Coulter:

@ Michael: How about Commander Twinkie?
Avatar Tue. 2/12/13 2:50pm Tony Coulter:

Blanchard also calls himself Pierre Bouchet for some weird reason....
Avatar    Tue. 2/12/13 2:54pm Uncle Michael:

Private Meringue, reporting for duty.
