Good morning Bill and all.

They say that waking up is hard to do.
Now I know, I know that it's true.

Hi Everybody! Her 'tis again another Saturday morning with some chill time on our hands. Enjoy your breakfast and your radio. Theme for today - music from some dead guys - many thanks to Brian for the heads up!
  3:06am
Brian in UK:

Mornin' Bill. Do not talk to me about blood vessels. You're so vein.
Avatar 3:07am
Bill mac:

Some days are harder than others, Martyn. You're up now - all down hill from here.

Mornin Carole in Oban!!

Brian in UK:

This i before the e except after c is a load of bollocks.
  3:10am
Martyn:

Morning Brian! I was thinking more of The ... er, Woodworkers.
  3:11am
Brian in UK:

I'm more Woodentops this AM.
  3:18am
ADM:

Hey Bill just wanted to let you know I've really been enjoying your 2012 premium. Listen to it mostly driving back and forth in a truck on the LIE.
Avatar 3:23am
Bill mac:

Glad you like it ADM. I got a little help from a couple people here. Jeff D has an ear for some of the more exotic stuff. he turned me on to Tenores di Bitti. I think there a Sardinian vocal group. Just when you though you heard everything that come down the pike.
  3:27am
Martyn:

Good to hear Ergo. Still alive I hope.
  3:28am
ADM:

Yeah. Been interesting watch the reactions of the folks I have to work with. Some great some lukewarm. Love that track "death is a job"
Avatar 3:29am
Bill mac:

Yes Sir, just appeared at Rough Trade to showcase this new stuff on the 7th
Avatar 3:30am
Bill mac:

@ADM Really? Funny, that one didn't bubble to the top with me, I DID like it though
  3:31am
Jay/London l:

Good Morning Bill just got up think am going down with some bug
  3:32am
Brian in UK:

I was hearing 'kidnap the pope'.
  3:32am
KP:

Hey Blill
  3:33am
ADM:

Yep absolute love it. It's completely stuck in my head.

  3:35am
KP:

My Mac has a bug. I'm forced to listen and post via iPhone.
  3:37am
KP:

I saw the original Mott the Hoople and absolutely loved first two albums. But just sort of no interest after that.
  3:37am
Brian in UK:

Dog walk, sees yous soon.
Avatar 3:46am
Bill mac:

@KP yeah, Mott the Hoople was part of our uniform when we were young teens. They were a bit tougher than Bowie relatively speaking.
Avatar 3:56am
Bill mac:

Hey jay, have some tea and stay near the radio, seems a good day for it.
  3:57am
Kp:

Got the mac to start! Still listening via iphone into ext speakers though.
I need some Hawkwind for holiday travels.
  4:01am
Kp:

See to me Mott the Hoople was hard rock/psyche Dylan. Could not take the glam. Lacked the grit that got me into them.
Avatar 4:01am
Bill mac:

Never heard this Hawkwind album from 1970. I gotta check my sources, but I'm pretty sure their 1st album was produced by Dick Taylor.
  4:03am
?:

Good Mornin Bill and everyone. Roxy. Hawkwind and T Rex - its a tribute to my teenage years.
Avatar 4:04am
Bill mac:

Funny that you're talking about Mott whilst T Rex is playing. one of the things I despise about Bowie, Mott's, Lou Reed and T Rex was the Tony Visconti sax-a-mo-phone sound. I DO however like the use of the sax in the T Rex tune I just played
  4:04am
Stanley:

Sorry that was me. Good to be back
  4:07am
Kp:

T-Rex is cool.
Avatar 4:10am
the missus:

The T-Rex LP is Electric Warrior
  4:12am
Stanley:

Roxy Music was their first album. I think. It was ground breaking art school fun at the time. When I saw them on Top of the Pops the first time it blew me away.
  4:14am
KP:

Mighty Baby! Whoa!
  4:16am
Looms:

Hello!
Avatar 4:16am
Bill mac:

You're right Stanley. A quick look at their website revealed my mistake. I always thought the black cover with "Do the Strand" was their 1st.
Avatar 4:17am

  4:24am

There's a thing about the beginning of this song, supposedly the who ripped it off for Pinball Wizard.
Avatar 4:26am
Bill mac:

Morning Andy.... waffels? I'm jealous and hungry!
  4:27am
KP:

Love SPirit. Only saw the three-man version, Cassidy of course. I did also catch JoJo Gunne, so mentally, i saw the true Spirit.
  4:32am
Andy in Berlin:

@ Bill - come on down!
  4:33am
KP:

Yeah where's King Penguin?
  4:34am
Looms:

Data panic in the accuplaylist?
  4:36am
Stanley:

Spirit - now there's a quintessential seventies group. Loved them to bits.
  4:37am
KP:

Now this is intense!
  4:39am
Bill mac:

Seems to be a problem. Guess we'll have to wing it. I can't even get into the engine.
  4:44am
Jay/London l:

its fine bill as long as we can hear the show !! .. i have a friend with me from France so not much time to comment but enjoying the show
  4:44am

Is this something new by Crime & The City Solution?
  4:50am

Spirit of 2012. Tampa jam. Budup.

Bevis Frond is on Fruits d mer too.
  4:59am
KP:

Penguin wings it ... I dont get it.
  5:00am
KP:

Hey the list~!
  5:02am
Jay/London:

maybe it's because they have wings but can not fly they try and wing it KP
  5:03am
KP:

From Terrascope re the Keep Off the Grass album:
Opening with some chiming guitar and hand drums, King Penguin sound languid and reasonably stoned on “Thoughts and Words”, the sound of a sitar giving that authentic sixties ambience, a great start.
  5:04am
KP:

Also wing it.
  5:11am
KP:

Should say "Always" wing it. As Bill can attest, it's 5:10 am here.
  5:12am
Jay/London:

my French friend like this track ... white man
  5:13am
KP:

Woo hoo! Half Moon Bay! Love that riff.
Avatar 5:15am
Bill mac:

Yeah, I believe Madi requested it last week... you know me, always playing catch up
@KP - Man I love this song - they touch on this song in a later song - i think Drivin Sister... oh yeah 75 year old Ian Hunter is touring.....again...
  5:15am
KP:

This is so glorious.
  5:17am
KP:

Did you know they got the name from a book title? i was in the library and saw it on counter "Mott THe Hoople."
Avatar 5:18am
Bill mac:

Another song similar to this is called The Journey on Brain Capers. Almost played Rock and Roll Queen. Oh yeah, I remember the book, I've forgotten the name of the author though
  5:19am
KP:

I know guys who know Ian Hunter well. He's part of the Woodstock crowd.
Avatar 5:20am
Bill mac:

He seems to do his share of shows up that way
  5:21am
KP:

The title sort means "Mott the jerk," Mott being a guy's name.
  5:21am
KP:

Ronson was too.
  5:22am
KP:

Buffin!
Avatar 5:24am
Bill mac:

Poor Buff has Althzeimers. One of my fave all time drummers.
  5:26am
Brian in UK:

KP I like your bands take on 'Thoughts and Words'. Byrds & Love were my bestest bands.
  5:30am
Brian in UK:

The Escher cover on the first Mott was what my attention.
  5:31am
KP:

Thanks a lot Brian. "Reasonably stoned" sort of captures it.
  5:36am
KP:

That Escher cover is so perfect for the music.
  5:37am
Andy in Berlin:

Thanks for the Ivor Cutler! He's so great
Avatar 5:38am
Bill mac:

Too bad they can't really put the energy into cover art anymore.
  5:38am
Brian in UK:

Jammy Smears. What a great title.
Avatar 5:38am
Bill mac:

He is, I need to get to him more often
  5:38am
KP:

This is that new POS movie? It's too good for it!
  5:40am
KP:

Bill i saw a vid of the reunion concert. Buffin comes out for a song.
  5:40am
Brian in UK:

Let's face it Bill. CDs are not worth a shit for cover art. Then downloading where does that leave you.
  5:41am
KP:

Mp3 covers are worth even less!
  5:42am
KP:

oh you already said that.
  5:43am
KP:

I've been buyng a lot of new vinyl lately and playing none. The covers are mesmerizing.
Avatar 5:44am
Bill mac:

@KP It was good to see him there. I think Martin Chambers filled in for him
  5:45am
Looms:

This Stan Freberg was excellent :)
  5:46am
Stanley:

Some of my friends think I'm nuts because I'm listen to the radio a lot. Eccentric even. But they know nothing!
  5:46am
KP:

Right. Meanwhile, Ian Hunter's I wanna be President single was awesome.
Avatar 5:47am
Bill mac:

@LoomsDon't know if you recognized the old ladys' voice. She was the voice of Rocky on the Rocky and Bullwinkle show, also played a number of other female vocals (including the old lady voice)
  5:50am
KP:

Did Stan Freberg play bass for Quicksilver Messenger Service?
  5:51am
Looms:

@Bill: sadly I've never heard of the Rocky and Bullwinkle show before. Lots of vids on YouTube so I'll check it out, thanks.
Avatar 5:51am
Bill mac:

Yes, he was in demand after his Dragnet parodies

Cool ending, Bill. Good w/e everone.

KP:

This is really great. Patsy Cline.
  5:56am
Stanley:

Thanks once again Bill for another show. I was a bit short on the comments action this morning thanks to a hangover from the firm's Christmas bash last night. It's going to take me a while to get going today. So long Bill and friends til next week.

Bye Brian.

  5:58am

See ya, Bill. THanks.

Night Jay, well it's my night, and Bill's, i think.
Avatar 10:21pm
KP:

just realized this might be a way to say hello. So, Hello there Bill. Hope you are doing well. Like many my heart just isn't in Jersey City these days. It's like they wanted to in particular wanted to punish me for my loyalty. I hope we are nearing end of this dark era and stars will soon shine on brightly. Until then me & Nyc are thinking of you.
