Listener comments!

  3:00pm
rrg:

Arf noon, all.
  3:00pm
hamburger:

3:O
  3:02pm
berlusconi's nose:

play it Lee!
  3:02pm
Matt from Springfield:

Vocal exercises a la mode!!
  3:03pm
Laura L:

Who put it there? Georgie Jessel.
  3:04pm
Matt from Springfield:

Whoa, Lee Morgan hip hop tribute! Sweeeeeet!
  3:05pm
northguineahills:

Oddly fitting.....
  3:09pm
berlusconi's nose:

...cooool daddy-O...
  3:11pm
rrg:

I'm sure Irwin will tell us why Danny Kaye is pictured on today's playlist. If not I'll have to guess. Or research it. Which is work. Which I do enough of when I'm working. Which I'm supposed to be doing now.
  3:13pm
Caryn:

I wonder if I should respond to the show title. Okay: the chalice from the palace has the brew that is true.
  3:13pm
Matt from Springfield:

YES! Thought this might be Mr. Boone!
Take a walk on the mild side!
  3:14pm
Alison Porchnik:

Whoever woulda thunk white bucks and tattoos would look so good together?
  3:14pm
Irwin:

Caryn: the vessels have been switched. It's now the flagon with the dragon.
  3:16pm
Caryn:

@Irwin: But did you put the pellet with the poison in the vessel with the pestle?
  3:16pm
berlusconi's nose:

RIP Mr Boone
  3:17pm
northguineahills:

I almost forgot about this Pat Boone. I actually like it.
  3:17pm
Stiff Twinkie:

Pat sounds vaguely like Lou Reed speaking his way through this song.
  3:17pm
don s:

atrocious!
  3:17pm
rrg:

All right, I'm stumped.
  3:19pm
Parq:

"The Court Jester" -- yes! I'd like to get in, get on with it, get it over with, and get out. Get it? Got it. Good.
  3:20pm
Matt from Springfield:

Calypso Diplomacy is what we needed more of. Calypso is usually just as messy as typical politics, but at least it's got a great groove. And dirty references!
  3:21pm
berlusconi's nose:

Hey!... was Pat Boone related to Daniel Boone????
  3:22pm
Parq:

No! The pellet with the poison's in the flagon with the dragon! The vessel with the pestle has the brew that is true!
  3:22pm
hamburger:

hope Irwin's not on the bath salts
  3:22pm
Matt from Springfield:

Forget Bieber - where are his overalls? I want their autograph and my photo taken with them.
  3:22pm
Alison Porchnik:

You're such Bieber-baiter, Irwin
  3:22pm
berlusconi's nose:

the Biebs!
  3:22pm
Caryn:

So, apparently now the pellet with the poison's in the flagon with the dragon; the vessel with the pestle has the brew that is true.

But who cares about that what with the duke, the doge, and the duchess and their mess. They say the Duchess dove at the Duke just when the Duke dove at the Doge. Now the Duke ducked, the Doge dodged, and the Duchess didn't. So the Duke got the Duchess, the Duchess got the Doge, and the Doge got the Duke!
  3:23pm
Caryn:

Irwin, are you confused about which radio station you are on? Or are you encouraging assassins to get some tickets and lay in wait for Bieber?
  3:24pm
Parq:

Caryn - she's 83, you know.
  3:24pm
Matt from Springfield:

Oh no, Ken's left his "medicine" on the mixing board again...
  3:24pm
Henny Youngman:

Caller what ever you want, she's my wife...
  3:25pm
Caryn:

@Parq: And I hear she has a siege of rheumatism. Hard to hold on to that dirk...
  3:26pm
Droll:

52, 94, 177, 418, 938, 1117 -- Lucky numbers indeed! There's still time to buy more Powerball tickets!
  3:26pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Caryn: That's a good one! I better rehearse that before going to Venice.
  3:27pm
steve:

if you havent, check out the video for this Tame Impala song... its beautiful real claymation!!
  3:29pm
Roberto:

Ack. Can't listen to this cartoons "song." Maybe it reminds me too much of my kids.
  3:29pm
Laura L:

Happy Flowers, yay.
  3:30pm
rrg:

Oof.
  3:30pm
Dan B From Upstate:

I.... I love the fraggles...
  3:31pm
Alison Porchnik:

make it stop
  3:31pm
rrg:

Doesn't everyone love the Fraggles?
  3:31pm
Parq:

All this and "I said I want to watch cartoons" too. Dang, what a day. Haven't heared this since the mid 80s.
  3:34pm
Canada:

Sorry about that Bieber thing.
  3:35pm
Caryn:

Should we classify that Happy Flowers track as "loo-loo-looing" or "willow-willow-wailing"?
  3:36pm
Droll:

Canada, I'll forgive you for Justin... if you take back Nickleback.
  3:37pm
robyn:

happy flowers...never heard them before. that was amazing.
  3:37pm
Matt from Springfield:

Van Dyke Parks! That's cool that he was an fan of Calypso.
  3:38pm
Matt from Springfield:

People who don't like the Fraggles must be truly MEAN!
  3:38pm
Caryn:

@Canada: We also demand apologies for Nickelback, Celine Dion, Bryan Adams and Avril Lavigne. But we will take Neil Young, Leonard Cohen, William Shatner, KitH and SCTV as compensation, so let's call it even.
  3:39pm
rrg:

That's what I've always said.
  3:39pm
Canada:

@Droll... well you did get rid of that Mitt character..
  3:39pm
Matt from Springfield:

@robyn: I was likewise intro'ed to the Happy Flowers via Irwin. One of the few stations anywhere that will play them over the radio!
  3:40pm
Canadian Ambassador:

@Caryn: "Now ma'am, my government HAS apologized for Bryan Adams on several occasions..."
  3:40pm
rrg:

Ix-nay on the anada-Cay stuff.

It just encourages them.
  3:41pm
Canadian Ambassador:

"Will you let me finish??! Will you let me finish???!!!

I'm finished."
  3:41pm
Droll:

Caryn, I'm also keeping Joni, Sloan...
and Rush. Let the mockery begin.
  3:42pm
Fran Blanche:

Marshall!! Excellent album - and an all time favorite. Good Show Irwin!
  3:44pm
other david:

Evenin' from a frosty Ireland, real nice to see the show and WFMU reached the goal :)
  3:44pm
robyn:

@canada montreal has some good music, too. in fact, get excited, because we're about to trade you fort worth AND dallas for montreal. yes, canada, you're so lucky - it's a twofer.
  3:44pm
robyn:

the amazon reviews of happy flowers are strangely earnest. "I honestly could not listen to it all the way through but it was therapy for me."
  3:46pm
rrg:

What a nice album this new Primitives album is. Just like old times. Almost.
  3:49pm
rrg:

When I heard the Lucky Millinder track I wondered if we'd be hearing Louis Jordan. Good show, chaps.
  3:50pm
rrg:

"Nothing beats-a piece-a pizza." Yes.
  3:52pm
BDR:

But can I take my pillow to the Justin Bieber concert?
  3:52pm
common:

Amazing!
  3:53pm
Caryn:

@Canadian Ambassador: Hey, at least you were only interrupted and had a brief war. They frigging nuked our whole country, and then just went "Oh no, not Finland!"
  3:53pm
rrg:

Left side/right side confusion. Fran Blanche on both the left and right sides of this playlist.
  3:53pm
Parq:

Had to stop working coz I was shaking with laughter listening to that Mr T riff.
  3:53pm
BDR:

Also, horribly politically correct Mr T snickers ad: http://youtu.be/OkT_d2OTgv0
  3:55pm
Matt from Springfield:

Good B&S! Reminiscent of "Bryter Layter" Nick Drake.
  3:55pm
Caryn:

I think Irwin should follow Fran Blanche with Mr T's "Treat Your Momma Right".
  3:56pm
rrg:

Caryn, it's "Mr. T", not "Mr T".

First name Mister, second name period, last name T.
  3:57pm
rrg:

The food at Sardi's isn't so great.
  3:58pm
other david:

@Matt: that B&S track actually reminded me most of Cliff Richards(!) - In The Country

(which I only know because of a Stewart Lee comedy sketch, honest)
  3:59pm
Caryn:

@rrg: well, I tend to write it with the period, but for once, I decided to follow the playlist. Foolish me!

On another note, I think my fave version of "The Lady is a Tramp" is the Sinatra/Fitzgerald duet.
  4:00pm
Alison Porchnik:

I love Stewart Lee!
  4:01pm
Matt from Springfield:

Hey OD!
It's okay, I only knew of Cliff Richard because of another comedy, "The Young Ones"!
  4:01pm
rrg:

We probably won't hear that Sinatra/Fitzgerald duet here. I don't think Irwin cares much for Ella. Not sure how he feels about Frank.
  4:03pm
Matt from Springfield:

Run volunteers, run!!
  4:03pm
other david:

@Alison: yay! the sketch is up here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uz3WMcd9QEM

Hopefully it's not blockified in your neck of the woods
  4:04pm
Caryn:

Thinking about it, almost all of my Cliff Richard references are from British comedy. "The Young Ones", "Spitting Image", "Never Mind the Buzzcocks", etc.
  4:04pm
rrg:

If the four volunteers got Bieber tickets, that means there are still two pairs left!
  4:05pm
rrg:

This is lovely. I can't think of a better adjective.
  4:05pm
Brett:

I love this song so much.
  4:06pm
Caryn:

Singing along here.
  4:07pm
rrg:

Wow. I love that we can hear ANYTHING here. Like this.
  4:08pm
Matt from Springfield:

The BEST of Billy Swan?? You mean he did more than this song??
  4:09pm
Caryn:

@Matt: Maybe Billy was proactive and named his first album "The Best of Billy Swan"? I feel like some artist should do that.
  4:10pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Caryn: If you're a fan of bad/banal cinema, Cliff Richard's movies from the early 60s are like the British equivalent of the American "Beach" movies.
  4:10pm
rrg:

Crowbar's first (maybe only) album was titled "The Best of Crowbar".

That, at least, is how I remember it.
  4:13pm
Alison Porchnik:

this is really beautiful. My ears are almost healed from "I wanna watch cartoons." Almost.
  4:14pm
rrg:

I still wanna watch cartoons, though. Once I get an idea into my head, there's no shifting it.
  4:16pm
Matt from Springfield:

Watch cartoons, listen to this -- problem solved.
  4:17pm
berlusconi's nose:

Don't make me MAD!
  4:18pm
rrg:

It was published at 485 MADison Avenue.
  4:19pm
Caryn:

@Matt: I've seen "Summer Holiday", but the rest of Cliff's films remain a mystery. Apart from "Thunderbirds are GO", but I don't think that counts. If only the movie version of "Expresso Bongo" wasn't apparently totally watered down, I'd want to see that.
  4:19pm
Matt from Springfield:

@rrg: Once you see the zany hijinks behind their doors, you'll never wash your eyes again!
Well, at least not with detergent anyway...
  4:22pm
Matt from Springfield:

This variation on a Japanese children's song is most welcome!
  4:22pm
rrg:

So THIS is what a marimba sounds like.
  4:23pm
Caryn:

@Matt: actually, "The Young Ones" and "Finders Keepers" sound like Cliff movies that might be entertaining. And I suspect "Reefer Madness"-levels of hilarity in the Billy Graham movie he did.
  4:25pm
northguineahills:

Nice marimba....
  4:25pm
northguineahills:

Nice marimba....
  4:26pm
Irwin:

You can say that again.
  4:26pm
Caryn:

For the percussionists listening, now is the perfect time to order your own Katarzyna Mycka marimba mallets: http://www.lonestarpercussion.com/Categories/Katarzyna-Mycka-Series-Marimba/
  4:27pm
rrg:

Don't let Ken know you're playing this.
  4:27pm
berlusconi's nose:

wow, cool! Spooky Tooth...
  4:28pm
rrg:

Oh! You should play Burl Ives too.
  4:28pm
Caryn:

Spooky Tooth! Somewhere, Ken is having a fit. Maybe the exorcism can take care of that too.
  4:29pm
rrg:

It's getting dark here. Still some daylight left, though.

But not in Finland. It's always dark there.
  4:30pm
hamburger:

ouu that spooky tooth song ended too soon
  4:31pm
Caryn:

@rrg: hey, in the south we can have a whole 3 hours of dark grey lightness around noon, before the pitch black returns again!
  4:31pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Caryn: I've seen "Summer Holiday" and "The Young Ones". Have to look at the others but WOW! Didn't realize he acted in a Billy Graham picture, "Two A Penny"! Along with "The Cross and The Switchblade" (with who else? Pat Boone!) those would be two good-bad message movies from that era!
  4:37pm
rrg:

Distorted is right.
  4:38pm
rrg:

Maybe it will be cleaned up when it's remastered for CD.
  4:39pm
Matt from Springfield:

This is quite low-par for Columbia. They may have released it, but it doesn't sound like they recorded it.
  4:42pm
Caryn:

Incidentally, has the reason for the Danny Kaye pic been made clear yet? My stream was down for about 15 minutes earlier, so I'm wondering if I missed it.
  4:42pm
Droll:

Raven were ahead of their time with the Wall-to-Wall limiter sound, and the drums even sound like a loop. The kids nowadays use expensive resonating filters to get a snare to ring like that. All they need is an out of tune snare sample.
  4:43pm
Irwin:

From Raven manager Marty Angelo's website (verbatim):

Angelo personally played ["the late Jimi" Hendrix["] the same "live" ("Live at the Inferno") tape recording he later sent to Beatle, "the late George Harrison."
  4:43pm
rrg:

Danny Kaye pic is from the movie "The Court Jester", from which "The pellet with the poison..." etc. comes.
  4:45pm
Caryn:

@rrg: yeah, I know, but is there any reason why the show title and the pic both refer to Kaye? I can't find any significance for November 28th and Kaye. Or did Irwin just watch "The Court Jester" again and feel like celebrating it?
  4:46pm
rrg:

That's it, Caryn.
  4:46pm
Irwin:

@Caryn: the latter.
  4:46pm
Irwin:

Thx to rrg for this tune.
  4:47pm
Irwin:

And the next.
  4:47pm
rrg:

I like this even better than the original. But I'm an acoustic kind of guy.
  4:47pm
Caryn:

@Irwin: ah. See, that's perfectly valid reasoning. All I needed to know.
  4:49pm
Matt from Springfield:

@rrg: Are you the source of Irwin's Nilsson songs, or does Irwin also have a lot of those already?
  4:51pm
rrg:

A couple two three maybe, but I think Irwin has a whole lot of Harry material.
  4:52pm
Matt from Springfield:

Irwin Shmirwin!
  4:53pm
berlusconi's nose:

eh...
  4:53pm
rrg:

Exactly.
  4:56pm
rrg:

Did this show really reach its pledge goal? Just before show time I thought it was showing 78%.
  4:59pm
Irwin:

@rrg: the station reached its goal, hence every show reached its goal.
  4:59pm
Matt from Springfield:

Wha the...
  5:00pm
rrg:

I call that revisionism. But I'm fine with it.
  5:01pm
berlusconi's nose:

don't make me MAD!
  5:01pm
rrg:

This has me laughing, I must say.
  5:01pm
Caryn:

Hey, you!
  5:02pm
rrg:

No, hey YOU!
  5:02pm
Matt from Springfield:

*confused applause*
  5:03pm
Announcer:

GOALLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5:03pm
Robert:

I don't know why, but "Mr. Magic" makes me cry.
  5:04pm
rrg:

You see? You see? Ken would never play this!

Actually I don't know that. But it's what I choose to believe.
  5:04pm
Savory C:

oh my ive fallen for the native hipsters singer
  5:05pm
Suppositious:

Ken would play it, but ironically, and treated somehow...
  5:05pm
Robert:

In recent years I've noticed a lot of things like that make me cry.
  5:06pm
rrg:

At last!
  5:08pm
Lewis Carroll:

Kaye was my truest interpreter!
  5:08pm
Matt from Springfield:

*less confused, appreciative applause*
  5:08pm
Caryn:

Well done, Danny! Candidate passes!
  5:09pm
Caryn:

1955 actually...
  5:09pm
ScottC:

don't get me started on Red Skelton...
  5:09pm
rrg:

"The Court Jester" is streaming "free" if you're an Amazon Prime subscriber.
  5:10pm
Robert:

"I'm Late" was one of Mother's favorites.
  5:11pm
rrg:

I spend a portion of every day living in the past.
  5:13pm
rrg:

It's not your job to get bums into the seats for Ken and Andy's show.

Wait, maybe it is. I haven't seen your contract.
  5:15pm
rrg:

Sunny Goodge Street! Is this a Donovan song? I haven't checked yet so I don't know.

And Ken would NEVER play this.
  5:17pm
rrg:

Thanks to Irwin's show the other week I know that Judy Collins never slept with Leonard Cohen.
  5:17pm
Matt from Springfield:

I like this Donovan song, but maybe it's the (prob Joshua Rifkin) arrangements -- they're too delicate to go with this song. If there was more "oomph", like on the similar "Little Girl Lost And Found" I think it would be an improvement.

That said, Joshua + Judy were beyond superb for "Both Sides Now" and numerous other songs.
  5:17pm
Matt from Springfield:

"Led Zepplin" RETURNS! W00t!
  5:17pm
rrg:

It's true, they were a really good band.
  5:18pm
rrg:

What does W00t mean?

I'm not being facetious. I never say it but I see it all the time.
  5:19pm
Matt from Springfield:

@rrg: Yes, Donovan was the writer and I think the first performer. Actually I only knew of his version for years.
  5:20pm
NS Andy:

Physical Grafitti?
  5:20pm
rrg:

There was another version of "Sunny Goodge Street" on one of those WB Loss Leaders albums with which I am unhealthily obsessed. I think by Tom Northcott.
  5:21pm
Listening Out There:

@RRG - Wikipedia covers W00t at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/W00t
  5:21pm
Catattack:

Just fill in your senior moment Irwin...Film Archives is at 2nd Ave and 2nd Street in the E. Village
  5:21pm
Matt from Springfield:

@rrg: There are so many theories out there on the 'webs it's hard to tell the precise origin. The theory I've adopted is the early chat language of hackers -- instead of proclaiming that they've hacked into something, they said "w00t", from "I've reached the root" [the home IP of that computer]. As for me, it's just excitement, an alternative to "Wooo!" or "Woohoo!"
  5:22pm
Matt from Springfield:

@NS Andy: Yes, I noticed that omission before. Ironic, since their riff is based off the "Houses of the Holy" song, which appears on Physical Graffiti.
  5:25pm
northguineahills:

Fairport!
  5:25pm
Matt from Springfield:

Fairport!! We've moved past sorcerers of magick, now we have doctors of physick!
  5:25pm
rrg:

Hey, I have this Fairport album. Once in a while that happens.

No, wait: what I have is "House Full". Completely different Fairport album.

Oh, well.
  5:27pm
rrg:

The only way to get radio shows like this is to pay for them!

Which I'm sure most of us here have done.
  5:29pm
rrg:

I'm trying hard not to point out the preposition capitalization problems in the playlist.

It's hard. But so far I'm succeeding.
  5:30pm
Matt from Springfield:

Free to listen, but remember: Freeform Isn't Free.
Kudos to all listeners who stepped up during WFMU's crisis.
  5:32pm
rrg:

Krispy Kreme. That's all you need to know.
  5:34pm
rrg:

Krispy Kreme is always far away. For me.
  5:34pm
Dan B From Upstate:

No, no, rrg. Tim Hortons. But I think the moral of the story is that a nearby donut will always taste better than a far away donut.
  5:34pm
Irwin:

rrg - Yeah, I know about the prep cap prob. I'm inconsistent that way.
  5:35pm
Droll:

A donut in hand is worth two in the Bushwick.
  5:36pm
Irwin:

That is LEE MORGAN on trumpet on this Blakey track.

Laura L:

@rrg
There's a lowercased verb to complain about, but he's doing well with the definite article today. The caps on the German can be forgiven, particularly since he did get the umlaut in, but the Ü, E, and even the J should be lowercased. Not that I'm looking for mistakes or anything like that.
  5:37pm
rrg:

"The Court Jester" was released in January 1956. I think that makes it a 1956 movie no matter what IMDB says.

IMDB calls it a 1955 movie but still lists its release date as January 1956. There ought to be a law.

No, there shouldn't. I'm JOKING. Put down that phone.
  5:38pm
Irwin:

LL: Which verb did I l/c?
  5:39pm
rrg:

Laura: "Mr T In Your Pocket"
"This is Easy" (as you pointed out)

But yes, pretty good today, overall.
  5:39pm
Matt from Springfield:

Liking this Art Blakey!
  5:40pm
Matt from Springfield:

And touché, Droll!
  5:40pm
G:

Well, On the Whole, That is A difficult Problem for Us all, Really.
  5:40pm
rrg:

It's not as clear but I would also capitalize "the" in "the Hiddentracks"
  5:42pm
Irwin:

I'm good with diacriticals. Props, pls.
  5:42pm
rrg:

And I appreciate the diacritical in Rhapsòdija. Thank you.
  5:43pm
Laura L:

rrg is quick on the draw--in the Marshall Crenshaw title: "is" should be capped.
Note the "In" at The Sensations is correct because of position of the word in the phrase. "Howlin' For My Baby," however--get that preposition lowercased, for crissake!
  5:43pm
Dave E:

I have nothing to say!
  5:44pm
G:

Everybody's a diacritic. Sheesh.
  5:45pm
rrg:

Hmm. Are we sure that shouldn't be Röntgen?

Actually I think that's fine. Roentgen is what I would do, so therefore it rings true to me.
  5:46pm
Dave E:

Yo.stick in the hole that don't shine!
  5:46pm
berlusconi's nose:

don't make me MAD! I pity a fool...
  5:46pm
rrg:

Underneath all this, it's also nice to hear the Penguin Café Orchestra.
  5:46pm
Irwin:

LL: Fixed "for."
  5:47pm
rrg:

"Send more Chuck Berry"
  5:48pm
green mountain man mark:

oh, well.
  5:49pm
Droll:

Everyone understands that when Ken scores the AccuPlaylists he can see your comments and will deduct the points anyhow, right?
Email the corrections so Irwin gets credit!
  5:49pm
Matt from Springfield:

@rrg: This is broadcasting on a radio transmitter into the ether, so we are duly doing that!
  5:49pm
rrg:

"Wrapped Up In Books" (B&S). "In" shouldn't be capitalized.
  5:49pm
Brett:

Sounds like Raymond Scott! I love it
  5:49pm
Matt from Springfield:

Koichi Sugii!!! Always love when you take him out.
  5:50pm
Laura L:

It should be Roentgen--I believe Herr Roentgen spelled it that way. The e after the o gets you the same pronunciation as the umlaut, but the physicist's preferred spelling of his name should be followed. Thanks for fixing the "for," Irwin. All right, I'm going to knock it off now and get back to work.
  5:50pm
rrg:

Ah, the rare album that none of us except Irwin will ever own because only 500 were made.
  5:51pm
green mountain man mark:

oh, well.
  5:52pm
Irwin:

Is Roentgen pronounced "RENT-jen"?
  5:53pm
rrg:

"The Jamaica Five". I contend.

I'll stop now.
  5:53pm
Caryn:

@Laura L: I think in cases of song and album titles, the way the band spells it should be followed, even if it may differ from the norm. In either case, it would be Roentgen.
  5:53pm
Laura L:

No, it's a hard "g" sound, not a "j" sound. And it's not exactly "rent," but, well, how to explain how to pronounce the "oe"--can't do it here.
  5:55pm
rrg:

Now it really IS dark outside.
  5:55pm
Caryn:

@Irwin: the oe should be an ö sound, like the e in "the" or the ea in "learned", and the g should be hard.
  5:56pm
rrg:

"My Sunday Feeling" is another track from one of the WB Loss Leaders.
  5:57pm
rrg:

Another fine show. So far.
  5:58pm
Irwin:

There's still 90 seconds to ruin in.
  5:58pm
rrg:

Keep trying.
  5:59pm
Laura L:

@Caryn, Chicago Manual of Style rules in how titles are styled. Band members and record producers have rarely been known to be very precise copyeditors--I wouldn't follow song titles on albums; they are very frequently riddled with errors. That's not really how an ö is pronounced--ok, I can explain it here--lips positioned for an "eee" sound, but interior of mouth for an "o" sound. No true comparison in English.
  5:59pm
rrg:

Goodbye, all. Until we meet again.
  5:59pm
Matt from Springfield:

Fine? "Superbity is always in excess here"!

Enjoyable show Irwin, thanks!
Take care everyone!
  6:01pm
luca:

röntgen is more or less pronounced like runt-gun...whatever that may be
  6:05pm
Caryn:

@Laura: yes, but if you are, say, writing down the name of a Prince track on a playlist, you wouldn't change all the 2s into twos, or the Us into yous. Best to keep the form they use just for accuracy, because the misspellings are often intentional. Of course, if there is a clear accidental misspelling on, say, an album cover, it's okay to correct it.
And yes, being Finnish I know that's not the precise way to pronounce an ö, but it's the closest I could come up with in 15 seconds in an easy-to-grasp way.
