Options November 4, 2012: HURRICANE SANDY WILL NOT PREVENT MY SINGLES FROM GOING STEADY! Fill-in for Joe McGasko.

Hey folks, WFMU's Silent Fundraiser is still on – Hurricane Sandy wreaked massive damage at our studios and transmitter sites, and it forced the cancellation of our annual Record Fair. This chain of events puts WFMU further in the hole. Make a pledge now and help WFMU recover from electrical, water, and financial damage suffered during the hurricane. We have a great new Turntable T-shirt or holiday music compilation, WFMU's War on Christmas (featuring an exclusive unreleased mix of Big Star's "Jesus Christ", plus James Pants, Klaus Nomi and more).

"NOT the original $1,000, folks!"
Apparently Al Stewart's "The News from Spain" from his Orange album, was tried as a single but they made only a couple hundred pressings. If you have that single---JACKPOT!

how about Andrew Klimek's "Felt Hammer?"
Sun. 11/4/12 1:51am Matt from Springfield:

@BGZ: Chuck was apparently from 1975-81--early years indeed.
Since RW douchebags seem to be the ideal game show hosts, perhaps the Nudge should take Pat Sajak's place when he retires! :)
  Sun. 11/4/12 1:51am FCC:

Don't mind me, you're not even broadcasting.
Sun. 11/4/12 1:52am Matt from Springfield:

Wooooo! Bonus hour! The hour time cruelly took from us has now been returned--but without interest!!!
Avatar Sun. 11/4/12 1:00am Kenzo (lastever):

I'm sure I'm confused.
Sun. 11/4/12 1:01am BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

I was secretly hoping you'd replay the first couple of records you were playing the first time it was 1am to see if we were paying attention.
Sun. 11/4/12 1:02am BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

Incidentally for the next 58 minutes it will be the same time in our respective time zones.
Sun. 11/4/12 1:04am Matt from Springfield:

Doris Troy and Betty Wright, great ladies of soul!
Avatar Sun. 11/4/12 1:07am Kenzo (lastever):

Sun. 11/4/12 1:07am dan in falls church VA:

@matt, seems you have quite the breadth of musical erudition!
Sun. 11/4/12 1:08am dan in falls church VA:

@matt, no, I wasn't accusing you of having bad breadth. :o
Sun. 11/4/12 1:09am Matt from Springfield:

@dan: Great erudition only gets better with each good example!
Sun. 11/4/12 1:09am BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

@kenzo: We haven't turned our clocks back yet. It's 1:08am here too.
Avatar Sun. 11/4/12 1:09am Mike Sin:

All right! Thanks for stickin' around folks!!
Sun. 11/4/12 1:12am Matt from Springfield:

@dan: Breadth is only your breath after eating bread...
@Mike: Stuck on you!
Sun. 11/4/12 1:14am dan in falls church VA:

@BadGuy Zero, cool, our time zones are in a brief moment of chronological communion! I think I'll call my friend in Austin who goes to bed early and wake her up and tell her about it!
Sun. 11/4/12 1:14am BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

@dan: You totally should!
Sun. 11/4/12 1:15am dan in falls church VA:

good god if it wasn't for this comments column I would have no idea today is daylight savings time... the downside is that it will get dark too early tomorrow!! :( :(
Sun. 11/4/12 1:15am BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

Shuggie Otis wrote "Strawberry Letter 23."
Sun. 11/4/12 1:15am dan in falls church VA:

@matt, then how come I have bad brea[d]th before and after eating bread??
Sun. 11/4/12 1:16am dan in falls church VA:

Holy cow, there was a trippy bridge there where for a few seconds Brothers Johnson sounded like Yes, or is it just me??!
Sun. 11/4/12 1:17am BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

@dan: Technically it's Standard Time where you are as Daylight Saving has ended.
Sun. 11/4/12 1:18am dan in falls church VA:

@mike, could you please play some music that would be good for looking at porn?
Avatar Sun. 11/4/12 1:18am Kenzo (lastever):

I always forget that Texas is only one time zone away. It feels like it'd be two!
Sun. 11/4/12 1:18am BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

Maybe Sherman Hemsley was hanging out around the studio when Brothers Johnson recorded that song.
Sun. 11/4/12 1:19am Matt from Springfield:

@BGZ: Shuggie Otis' version is great, from '72 I think. I've heard it before.
@dan: The trick is: you have to eat bread BEFORE before you eat bread, otherwise you won't have good brea[d]th.
Sun. 11/4/12 1:19am dan in falls church VA:

@BadGuyZero, thanks for the correction, I have always found DST confusing and inscrutable
Sun. 11/4/12 1:20am Matt from Springfield:

Now now dan, you'll just have to wait for the mic break and bed music like everyone else!
(Italian porn music soundtrack from 60s! ;)
Sun. 11/4/12 1:21am dan in falls church VA:

@matt, that's too many carbohydrates!
Avatar Sun. 11/4/12 1:21am Kenzo (lastever):

I always go to the box near the bottom of the WFMU homepage to remind myself whether or not daylight savings is in effect.
Sun. 11/4/12 1:21am Matt from Springfield:

Great early disco, good arrangements and bass! Not too much, just right!
Avatar Sun. 11/4/12 1:21am Mike Sin:

Folks, when I snagged "Lady Bump" I was sorta hoping it was going to be about a woman singing about her pregnancy. Oh well...
Sun. 11/4/12 1:22am BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

@Dan: It is confusing. Then you get those areas that don't observe it or are just outside a major city in another time zone so they observe whatever time it is there. I wish they would do away with Daylight Saving Time. It served a purpose when it was adopted but it's no longer needed.
Sun. 11/4/12 1:22am dan in falls church VA:

hmmm..."bump" is also slang for a line of cocaine or meth.
Sun. 11/4/12 1:23am dan in falls church VA:

I'm with you about dst bad guy!
Sun. 11/4/12 1:24am BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

I'm still not certain exactly what "Lady Bump" was supposed to be about. Is she a roller derby enforcer and that's her rollergirl name?
  Sun. 11/4/12 1:24am dyer from rachacha,ny:

my butt is glued to in front of my speakers.
Sun. 11/4/12 1:24am dan in falls church VA:

@BadGuy, maybe she was a bumper car fanatic!
Sun. 11/4/12 1:25am BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

Go back to 1974 for a pregnancy song: "(You're) Having My Baby" by Paul Anka!
Sun. 11/4/12 1:26am dan in falls church VA:

@dyer, my butt is glued to the equivalent spot in my pad!

@Mike: Hey, you can't FAKE fun!! :D
Sun. 11/4/12 2:10am BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

This Johnny Thunders would pair well with the Oak Ridge Boys' version of "Seven Nation Army" that Chris T. played last night.
Sun. 11/4/12 2:26am Matt from Springfield:

"All good things must end."
"But how glad we are to have them!!" :)
