Listener comments!

  Fri. 11/2/12 3:02pm common:

thanks for m! and the good goofy laughs with bryce.
  Fri. 11/2/12 3:02pm Mary Wing:

That transition was magnificently goofy.
  Fri. 11/2/12 3:03pm Minnesota Jeff:

D-J-K-G! Can't stop! Won't Stop!
  Fri. 11/2/12 3:03pm Cecile:

great GIF. hey, Mary!
  Fri. 11/2/12 3:04pm Caryn:

Hello all! The pop music and polka can't be stopped!
Fri. 11/2/12 3:07pm sFrances from VA:

Pop & Polka will overcome all!

Howdy y'all!
  Fri. 11/2/12 3:07pm G:

@NY/NJ wading tough gifs: Don't step on the rollercoaster rubble. That would REALLY hurt.
  Fri. 11/2/12 3:10pm Mary Wing:

Hi Cecile! Happy Friday to everyone from the bowels of NYC!
  Fri. 11/2/12 3:12pm Cecile:

no kidding, yikes.
Avatar    Fri. 11/2/12 3:16pm DJKG:

hi everyone! trying to program a little hurricane relief today...
  Fri. 11/2/12 3:17pm Minnesota Jeff:

I need to get me a copy of that Raz-Ma-Taz Poka.
  Fri. 11/2/12 3:18pm dcp:

this PLU+EP is great.
  Fri. 11/2/12 3:19pm still b/p:

Like to see an image by Evolution Control Committee to go with that mix and somehow reference the famous Whipped Cream album cover.

Like to see NY and NJ provocatively covered in whipped cream, too.
  Fri. 11/2/12 3:19pm Caryn:

Well, if you're going to base a track on a piece of classical music, you might as well pick a good one.
  Fri. 11/2/12 3:21pm BDR:

What's his problem? He thinks he's Ethel Merman. War is hell.
  Fri. 11/2/12 3:21pm Caryn:

Oh, Ethel...
  Fri. 11/2/12 3:21pm Caryn:

@BDR: nice!
  Fri. 11/2/12 3:22pm still b/p:

Now, Ethel in whipped cream would be too magically charged and stimulating to bear.
  Fri. 11/2/12 3:26pm Caryn:

@sb/p: so I take it you haven't seen the pics?
  Fri. 11/2/12 3:26pm ashok:

Man, that was great! I'd better earn some more money so I can pledge more for this majestic awesomeness! It takes more than a hurricane!
  Fri. 11/2/12 3:31pm still b/p:

Because I'm still alive? Do they exist?
  Fri. 11/2/12 3:31pm Cecile:

is this from North Star?
  Fri. 11/2/12 3:31pm Minnesota Jeff:

Oh man, this whole Daryl Hall album is great. FRIPP!
  Fri. 11/2/12 3:32pm common:

Wow! Where did you get this hall single?
  Fri. 11/2/12 3:32pm Cecile:

it is! cool.
  Fri. 11/2/12 3:35pm Caryn:

@sb/p: don't think so, but you never know. What with Joan Crawford's lesbian porn past, and Greta Garbo's topless pics around, I wouldn't be absolutely shocked if it turned out young Ethel had some unsavoury secrets.
  Fri. 11/2/12 3:35pm Marmalade Kitty:

Good afternoon/evening folks!
  Fri. 11/2/12 3:38pm northguineahills:

Hey, I'm single again (for the first time in 5 years).
  Fri. 11/2/12 3:38pm Cecile:

supposedly she had a relationship with Jaqueline Susann
  Fri. 11/2/12 3:39pm Marmalade Kitty:

savoury secrets?
  Fri. 11/2/12 3:42pm Caryn:

Oh hell, who didn't Susann supposedly have a relationship with?
  Fri. 11/2/12 3:42pm Marmalade Kitty:

congrats, ngh!!!
  Fri. 11/2/12 3:43pm dcp:

yeah...congrats...or sorry....
  Fri. 11/2/12 3:44pm seang:

I'm single too, looking for a girl in the Boston area
  Fri. 11/2/12 3:44pm northguineahills:

It feels really weird, to be honest. I basically got dumped b/c I don't have a full-time job.
  Fri. 11/2/12 3:45pm 37:

great show so far... and I can actually listen today... so far at least
  Fri. 11/2/12 3:45pm northguineahills:

Ok, back to job-hunting crap, I only have a few months of unemployment left. Will be back soon....

oh, and sweet... YOKO!
  Fri. 11/2/12 3:45pm still b/p:

I'm just waiting for the outtakes of Claudette Colbert's 1932 milkbath to surface. Then nothing else in the world will matter or be necessary.
  Fri. 11/2/12 3:47pm Cecile:

You know, ngh, it's for better or worse. you're lucky you found out now...
  Fri. 11/2/12 3:47pm Cecile:

but it still sucks and i'm sorry.

Hi everyone I really liked walking on ice
  Fri. 11/2/12 3:50pm PMD:

  Fri. 11/2/12 3:52pm j:

quoting "lips" Xbox game: GREAT PARTY!
  Fri. 11/2/12 3:52pm Cecile:

OMG. i have this single.
  Fri. 11/2/12 3:53pm northguineahills:

It only took 5 years, but, yeah...

I was supposed to have a meeting w/ a startup yesterday about a freelance proposal I put together, but, since this is NYC, it got postponed until next week.
  Fri. 11/2/12 3:54pm Marmalade Kitty:

wfmumatchsingles/swingers.. haha:)
  Fri. 11/2/12 3:55pm 37:

yes yes yes IAN DURY!!!!
  Fri. 11/2/12 3:57pm J:

Does that "guy" in the back of the GIF has an erection pointing to the right?
Must be because of all this matchmaking thing.
  Fri. 11/2/12 3:57pm Carmichael:

Yes! Ian Dury. Hiya Kurt, hello everyone.
  Fri. 11/2/12 3:59pm s:

That NYS in the GIF looks to be standing tall and, um, erect. Maybe cause Jersey is so alluring.
  Fri. 11/2/12 4:01pm Snortley:

My gal done left me to spend more time with her husband. Really.
  Fri. 11/2/12 4:02pm Carmichael:

Hang tough ngh. And consider relocating. At least regionally.
  Fri. 11/2/12 4:04pm Carmichael:

Oh, and if you haven't already, look at Simplyhired.com. They have gis jobs in new york listed on there.
  Fri. 11/2/12 4:05pm Cecile:

ah...the I'm the man album came as a set of singles as well as an album
  Fri. 11/2/12 4:05pm Carmichael:

Hey hey! Joe Jackson! Kurt's in the 80s!
  Fri. 11/2/12 4:05pm Caryn:

@sb/p: that would be nice. I actually think it would be much easier to find such footage of Myrna Loy in her flower bath, because there was way less cover to begin with: http://www.bikiniscience.com/chronology/1930-1935_SS/ML3308_S/ML3308_J/ML3308_10_Myrna_Loy_Barbarian_01.JPG
  Fri. 11/2/12 4:06pm 37:

ah... the memories... joe jackson when i played rock
  Fri. 11/2/12 4:07pm 37:

that's when HE played rock.... I still play rock (sort of)
  Fri. 11/2/12 4:08pm northguineahills:

Actually, I was just reading my daily newsletter from SimplyHired.com, there are two related GIS jobs there that I'm in the middle of editing my resume/writing a cover letter. All together, I think I'm registered at over 60 some job hunting related sites, and I can't remember my passwords for most of them (different protocols for all of them).
  Fri. 11/2/12 4:08pm Accounts Prayable:

Broke the 90% station goal. RAISE THAT GOAL!!!! by 70k at least... make it an even 300!!!!!!!!!!

It would be great if WFMU posted a webpage that said basically what Ken's e-mail said: WFMU is in trouble because of Hurricane Sandy. The info's too buried on the home page, and I want to spread the word to my friends.
  Fri. 11/2/12 4:33pm Mary Wing:

Why not just forward Ken's email to your friends, Denise?
  Fri. 11/2/12 4:33pm dcp:

Fri. 11/2/12 4:34pm mike noble in dc:

does anyone know if there is a way to make a paid-in-full donation to WFMU in someone else's name? so they also receive swag?
  Fri. 11/2/12 4:34pm radiobelly:

seattle represents, yo!
Fri. 11/2/12 4:35pm BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

@ Denice: Use a link to Ken's email: http://tinyurl.com/helpWFMU
Fri. 11/2/12 4:36pm BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

BLERG...Denise, apologies for misspelling your name.
  Fri. 11/2/12 4:36pm Mary Wing:

MIke, I think the easiest way to do that would be to send a check with a note saying that you're paying for someone else. Trying to do it by credit card would probably be too complex.
Fri. 11/2/12 4:46pm mike noble in dc:

thanks, Mary!
Fri. 11/2/12 4:46pm mike noble in dc:

I'm a freelancer who has to send out annual xmas thankyou gifts to clients (sweets, greeting cards, etc), and this year i'm thinking of giving everyone joint donations to the red cross and wfmu. at least they'd get soap out of it!
  Fri. 11/2/12 4:48pm Mary Wing:

What a great idea, Mike! Very smart and better than dodgy fruitcake!
  Fri. 11/2/12 4:50pm Marmalade Kitty:

@mike; use the other persons address for recieving the mail/swag..?
  Fri. 11/2/12 4:50pm PMD:

PMD, alas I must turn off so I can prepare for my interview for a temp job. I remember the day when you could simply say you were available and have a job. So, can relate ngh.

  Fri. 11/2/12 5:02pm Looms:

Groovy broadcast, Kurt!

@Chaton: WFMU without my unfavourite shows woulnd't be WFMU. That is to say, I agree with you (with or without MJ)
  Fri. 11/2/12 5:16pm Cecile:

I was in a restaurant recently with a friend, and we heard a MJ song. I blurted out "I still miss Michael!" The waiter smiled and nodded.

  Fri. 11/2/12 5:31pm Mary Wing:

  Fri. 11/2/12 5:32pm Carmichael:

According to Mr. Blackwell, this is "a toothpick wrapped in a doily."

  Fri. 11/2/12 5:39pm Carmichael:

Sounds like 31-7/8 rpm. What's the over/under?
  Fri. 11/2/12 5:39pm Mr Lowry:

If I could, I would deduct for the Prince set.
  Fri. 11/2/12 5:41pm Caryn:

Come on, people, pledge! Because the only other music-adjacent Sandy fundraising tonight is going to star Sting, Bon Jovi and Billy Joel, and if you seriously think that is better than Kurt's show, you have obviously been ingesting bath salts.

Just pushed DJKG over the edge with some of my refunded Amtrak fare, that was to be used for my record fair journey which sadly isn't happening.

Cecile: Bolt Underground techno party, noise festival (w/Chicago friends) at Patrick's Cabaret, First Avenue, driving around late at night with someone I have a very very bad crush on. Only there two nights but I made them count. Oh, and I brought back like 40 pounds of Surly on the bus.
  Fri. 11/2/12 5:54pm Cecile:

NICE, kat.
Good times.

Hoorah! You played my Prince gateway tune, Pop Life, which I haven't heard in at least 8 years and I forgot the important role this song played in opening doors for me musically. It's difficult to overstate the impact this tune had on me in 1985, still, somehow it's better than I remember it. I'll never understand what in this song so completely captures my imagination.
[Hope your stuff is drying out and you're doing okay]
