@Carm: That's the computer I remember the least about. It was brought into the home by my ex who used a couple of the TRS-80s for his Brooklyn bulletin board, then for our L.A. "Muse Ink" board. I sure recall that square screen and the big, bright green typeface.

Thanks for the link! So that slot's for a cassette and not just a floppy disc? I'm trying to remember how we transferred data between my IBM and his TRS-80s. I know I've seen the TRS screen in old films of the '80s.

we had trash-80s in middle school, and commodore pets in high school. at home, though, i had a c64, so i did actually do some of my computing in color.

@rob: That's terrible. I still think we found some method of transfer -- maybe using the BBS itself -- and I'm happy that's been pretty much all corrected. My husband uses Apple exclusively, and I use a PC. A stick does the trick between us. :)

there was some model of ibm keyboard from that era, metal frame, that became hotly sought due to its keyboard feel and indestructibility. you could run it in the dishwasher and have it work fine once dry.

@Michael -- the boss is forcing a vote w the National Labor Relations Board, rather than voluntarily recognizing the union. Many other co-ops in the region are unionized, made the transition without the vote. So we're pretty disappointed in the (lack of) leadership! But we're pushing on... in a positive way!

Wouldn't the solution be to a group that disagrees with a co-op, to "secede" and form their own co-op? Pardon me if I'm new to this as a practical model.

We recently unionized here at my public agency, in order to fight arbitrary layoffs of non-union positions. Very ugly scene within and without, but we're in a much fairer and more secure environment. But there are "winners and losers", and grudges continue to be held.
