You see a blanket on the ground. It's your favorite color, smooth and soft. You can sit on it, or lie on it. It's a flying blanket, and you are the pilot. You are in control. You can fly anywhere you wish, just by thinking about it. You are the pilot.

I don't see the playlist for the previous show yet. Guess it's in the works. Anyway, can anyone tell me the name of that kid's band that was on? Love your show right now too!

Have you all seen the thing about the money we're trying to raise? It's like a beard raising, only we're raising moolah. Use the widget on the page to give us ALL OF YOUR MONEY. Or not, whatever.
Avatar Mon. 10/1/12 9:46pm Dan B:

This is Mike Shiflet's first band, Noumena, with Aaron Hibbs - guitar duos recorded live in 1998 while he was still in high school. Nice prelude to his live set in a few minutes.
Avatar Mon. 10/1/12 9:56pm Dan B:

Headphones if possible
  Mon. 10/1/12 9:57pm cosmic matrix:

this is really great
  Mon. 10/1/12 10:01pm cosmic matrix:

it's hard to make an interesting but suitably smooth soundscape, for me anyway
Avatar Mon. 10/1/12 10:02pm Dan B:

I love Mike's mix of ambient and noisy
Avatar Mon. 10/1/12 10:09pm Dan B:

Fishing for bass on a long line that twines into David's harp in the breeze off the islands
Avatar Mon. 10/1/12 10:10pm Dan B:

the bottom half of the sky just fell

  Mon. 10/1/12 10:18pm Tom L:

Avatar Mon. 10/1/12 10:36pm Dan B:

@Tom L, thanks
  Mon. 10/1/12 10:57pm digdogger:

ask mike about the time he yelled "hey dude, want to have sex!" to an old dude on the street
  Mon. 10/1/12 11:21pm cosmic matrix:

this set is amazing but it's confusing my cat
Avatar Mon. 10/1/12 11:23pm Dan B:

Me too and I'm not even a cat. Cicadatronics!
  Mon. 10/1/12 11:31pm Craig Bishop:

REALLY??? WTF??? This sounds like something between a Con Ed stem vent and my vacuum cleaner on a Spring morning. This must be the from the first album. All the best material gets spewed w/ the first load. Second release couldn't possibly be this deep. Maybe you could segue this with a set depicting paint drying or grass growing.

Uhhhhhh, that would be S-t-e-a-m vent.
  Mon. 10/1/12 11:35pm steve:

both of Mike's set were massive. so good.
  Mon. 10/1/12 11:35pm Lulu:

soundza good. good methodical/minimalist beat to help me get a cover letter written

  Mon. 10/1/12 11:37pm brycepunk:

This... this is the reason I love wfmu so fucking much. At least 50% of the time I tune in: mind= blown. Thank you for this.
  Mon. 10/1/12 11:37pm dw:

My Cat is chilled, thanks for the live sets!
  Mon. 10/1/12 11:41pm Destroit:

spectacular ambient stuff from LDP.
Avatar Mon. 10/1/12 11:41pm Dan B:

Hey all, thanks for the comments. @Craig, we are contemplating your response as we would tea leaves in the bottom of the cup.
  Mon. 10/1/12 11:43pm Chop Scott:

Excellent to hear Mike Shiflet on the air tonight!
Avatar Mon. 10/1/12 11:48pm Dan B:

@Chop Scott, thx for listening.
Avatar Mon. 10/1/12 11:49pm Dan B:

There are still 11 whole minutes to donate to the credit of this show's share of support to WFMU for day 1 of our non-air fundraiser for October. We need 99 more $15 pledges, or 10 more $150 pledges, or something like that.
  Tue. 10/2/12 12:01am Craig B:

As tea leaves at the bottom of a cup mean nothing... All I'm saying is that musically speaking, from the top of the set, the Emperor wasn't wearing a lot of clothes, IMHO. However, I have to admit the set is becoming way more intriguing as it unfolds. To paraphrase brycepunk, at least 50% of the time I tune in: unlistenable... and that's why I love WFMU so much. The other 50% knocks me out. 100% blows my mind. Good work! BTW, the math equations that must be answered in order to get posted are killing me. Maybe they could be limited to two columns? I'm just sayin'...
  Tue. 10/2/12 12:35am mr h (san francisco):

Gurdjieff! i looove this guy.
