  9:15am
maestroso:

G'morning Ms Faye! Nice start for the set.
  9:15am
Michele:

Morning Miss Faye!
  9:16am
fred von helsing:

As usual on Thursdays, I have a huge pile of browser tabs of youtube searches, and this show is not helping any :-D
  9:17am
Cheri Pi:

I understand too well Fred!
  9:19am
fred:

Hello Children, Faye and listeners!
Nice Sonic Youth sample here
  9:20am
other david:

I solemnly declare, from this forward, that Thursday shall be henceforth known as International Multible Browser Tab day
  9:21am
other david:

multiple... too
  9:22am
fred von helsing:

Spaketh I the words that no other dared utter: Multiple tab syndrome
  9:22am
MD:

Good morning children of the free form!
May FMU be our MUSE today!!!
  9:23am
Chris from DC:

Great start. Back after meeting. Sigh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:24am
Faye:

hey maestroso! Michele!! MD & Chris. yeah those browser tabs pile up quick......
  9:27am
Cheri Pi:

such a dreamy start to a dreamier day
  9:31am
doca:

@Cheri Pi: i was thinking the same. fortunately here on porto alegre the thursdays have all been sunny. i guess this is faye weather.
  9:32am
Cheri Pi:

it's beautifully cloudy here this morning in Cincinnati, I share Faye's weather & last night we all had an amazing thunderstorm together.
  9:35am
tim from champaign:

Man, when Unrest played on Brian Turner's show a couple summers ago it did my heart so good. Such a wonderful band.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:40am
Faye:

the weather yesterday was a serious experience.... tim I'm really into unrest right now, more to hear from them later! glad you like
  9:41am
other david:

"beautifully cloudy" a phrase never uttered by any Irish person, ever :)

Guess it loses its magical quality when it's that way pretty much every day.. like today!

But Faye's tunes are bringing a little bit of sunshine
  9:41am
Andrew Waterloo:

@Cheri, here too, was pleasantly surprised to see my thermometer at 19C (67F) this morning.
  9:45am
DCE:

I love a cool-ish hazy summer day. Indirect light, y'all, that's what I'm talking about.
  9:46am
seang:

Gus!
  9:46am
Cheri Pi:

we've been trapped in an exhausting heat wave for weeks now, it finally rained yesterday, the cloudiness this morning feels cathartic.
  9:46am
doca:

well, it's that usually the winter in southern brazil is not only cold but humid and rainy. thursday have been a relief.
  9:48am
doca:

and for those who think brazil is a tropical country, the thermometer now topped at 10º celsius, or 50 F. a warm winter day.
  9:52am
fred:

@doca: Brazil is a huge country, roomy enough for wildly different climates. Then again, a coworker taunted us by sending pics of his hometown -- Santos -- in winter with a temperature higher that what we had in yet another rainy "summer" in Paris
  9:53am
DCE:

boy I can't hear a thing Faye's saying
  9:56am
doca:

@fred: yeah, i know, but this is a damn bad weather place. i guess you're living through a porto alegre summer now during this unfortunate heat wave i'm hearing about.
  9:58am
still b/p:

I've had my first introduction...this very day...to The Shaggs. And I love them. And will request them now and on any show anytime.

Clear and, ahhhh, upper 60s here, after a few days of the heavy muggly.
  10:00am
doca:

i haven't heard all of this new allo darlin' album. is it as good as their first one?
  10:01am
craigness:

which song has twin peaks dialogue in it? I didn't catch the full story.
  10:01am
fred:

@doca: I'm in France, not the US. Summer so far has been cloudy and rainy, with temps breaking barely 20°c, sometimes. Where are you in Brazil?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:02am
Faye:

craigness-- it's the 1st track of the show, Hyperborea by Biosphere. they have another song with Twin Peaks dilogue on it on that same record-- Substrata
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:03am
Faye:

@doca I haven't heard the whole record yet but I really like what I've heard so far!
  10:05am
doca:

@fred: i'm in porto alegre, on the south tip of brazil (the southernmost state capital etc etc), but i thought the heat wave was everywhere. a friend of mine said that tuesday in lisbon it was 39º C (!).
  10:06am
craigness:

@faye thanks. I only just tuned in and caught the end of what you were saying!
  10:08am
doca:

@faye: i'm on the same situation, but thanks for playing it little by little.
  10:11am
Incubator:

@still b/p: The Shaggs are amazing, aren't they? I'm pretty sure that I actually first learned about them through Faye, either directly or indirectly (I can't remember which).
  10:17am
Chris from DC:

Aw, cool, Rain Parade.
  10:20am
DCE:

there's that distinctive Ohio stink again...
  10:21am
fred:

@doca: I'm not complaining, to tell the truth. Anything close to 30°C is just horrible in Paris, with the crowded trains and pollution.
Brazil seems to me to be an interesting place, but not for the usual reasons. I like that no matter what anyone looks like, he or she could be from Brazil.
  10:21am
fred von helsing:

(back from a delicious late-workday beer)
  10:22am
fred:

@FVH: what did you have?
  10:23am
doca:

@fred: haha i guess you hit the spot, brazilians are anything. and yeah, around 20ºC is the best temp.
  10:24am
chris m.:

this song also appears on my casio
  10:27am
fred von helsing:

@fred oh just the usual local swill, but on a terrace with the sun shining, about 22 celcius
  10:29am
fred:

@doca: that's probably BS, but my brazilian coworker used to say that the way he could tell compatriots was by their shoes
  10:31am
doca:

@fred: their shoes? unfortunately i've never travelled outside of brazil, so i guess i don't know much about it. and i thought havaianas was a global brand...
  10:32am
fred:

@FVH: did you ask about Malaga on the comments board?
  10:33am
BSI:

yep, I CAN-JAPAN sounds like a typical day in my skull.
  10:33am
Georgia:

Was that a non-FCC-approved word I just heard? (That rhymes!)
  10:35am
fred:

@doca: I don't know the details, and I'm so bad at this I'm legally fashion-blind. But he sure could pick them out in a crowd.
  10:36am
BSI:

...followed by Space Girl. Home Run, honorable Faye.
  10:37am
frenchee:

Hi Faye!

I love this GIRL TROUBLE premium, so many great songs
  10:37am
fred von helsing:

@fred ah nope, forgot, but it's not for a coupla months yet (when the air is livable)
  10:38am
Carmichael:

Hey Faye, hey everyone.
  10:38am
fred:

@BSI: amazing site, by the way. Have you had any promising contacts yet?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:38am
Faye:

Frenchee! It's great isn't it?? I love a Trouble premium I do.
  10:38am
blip:

Yaye! Faye!
  10:39am
doca:

@fred: i just thought it was funny. i was talking with this friend of mine who is in lisbon about if there's a portuguese "type", not on the facial characteristics (like, i'm sorry, a french nose), but a cultural one, like the argentinian male mullets. she said she haven't discovered it yet. but now i'm adding "brazilian shoes" to the list.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:40am
Faye:

thanx BSI! hi Carmichael! hi blip!
  10:44am
fred:

@doca: there was a lengthy explanation of what made it specific, but I spaced out about 10 seconds into it. Never thought that would prove useful someday. My source would probably loudly object to it being a "portuguese" trait though, even while applying for Portuguese citizenship
  10:45am
coelacanth:

Hey Faye,i like your show.
  10:46am
Fynn:

Thanks again for the live unrest and the Henrys
Dress. GREAT SET
  10:46am
fred:

@FVH: no station pledger in Malaga according to the marathon map, but it's still worth a shot
  10:47am
BSI:

@Fred: a touch of freelance but nothing "real" as yet. Been so busy with print for 20+ years, never gave a damn about digital media/web design, so that's gonna slow things. But as long as I have my 128k stream, the hunt goes on!
  10:48am
doca:

beulah!
  10:49am
DCE:

this is a band I always meant to buy a record from but never did.
  10:49am
fred:

@BSI: for someone who hasn't paid attention to digital stuff, you have a neat looking site
  10:52am
fred:

@doca: he sure had an opinion about what would be a female facial Portuguese type
  10:53am
doca:

@fred: he had? is that in brazil we are always kidding that the portuguese women all have moustaches. it's a kind of former colony fun.
  10:56am
Michele:

Yay Joe McGasko!
  10:57am
David Shortell:

Last year at the IFC Center, I saw Miranda July's "The Future", narrated by a cat.
  11:01am
frenchee:

Todd-o-Phonic Todd on a an instrumental interlude in one of his garage classix:
"THIS SONG WOULDA BEEN A CLASSIC IF ONLY THEY'D TAKEN THE SAXOPHONE PLAYER TO THE PARKING LOT OF THE RECORDING STUDIO....AND STRANGLED HIM" --(must be said in the best TOT voice)
  11:02am
dankles:

I've never heard Unrest. They kind of remind me of Cap'n Jazz. A little tidier, maybe?
  11:03am
Cecile:

hola!
  11:04am
fred:

@doca: of course that's what it was. I've met a lot of people from Brazil, Portugal, and Argentina. I know better that taking seriously whatever you guys say about each other. Seems like you do too, I had an amazing laugh-fest with two guys (one from Brazil and one from Argentina) outdoing each other in insults/bragging while buying each other rounds.
  11:06am
Cecile:

Cheri, same here.
  11:09am
fred:

@frenchee: I can hear him saying that, and that's one of the rare times when the use of all-caps was justified.
  11:10am
frenchee:

lol, @fred, I know. I try to keep the caps to a minimum but in order to impart the Toddness, you gots to do it.
  11:12am
Cecile:

today, the gentle sounds are welcome. My nerves are as frayed as the bottoms of a 20 year old pair of Levis.
  11:17am
Cecile:

you know you can sing the words, "don't ever go change and rearrange your mind. your mind your mind" to this.
  11:18am
Kate:

nice @cecile! does remind me of that clean slug song!
  11:23am
fred von helsing:

@fred that's OK. i'll be wearing my new swagshirts all weekend but i expect to get zero recognition... that's just the way it goes in helsinki... even if Ken is a huge fan of finnish music
  11:23am
still b/p:

Incubator: @10:11 (I'm on and off this morning)
If Faye's played Shaggs, I didn't know it. A search shows they've been on a handful of FMU playlists when I was probably listening...but I was never fully Shagg-struck until this morning when a friend linked me to 'em..said they were the favorite band of a long-ago girlfriend.
  11:25am
Van in DC:

Liking this :)
  11:28am
fred:

@FVH: You need to have Ken over for a party/PR opportunity then. And be sure to wear your 7SD shirt, that's $2 back for sure (good luck getting Andy)
  11:33am
Carmichael:

I would sure like to get some new swag shirts .... >8~(
  11:35am
fred von helsing:

"upstate new york" is usually a euphemism for "buffalo", but used in polite company and over the air
  11:35am
northguineahills:

I didn't know Secret Shine released anything besides the "Untouched" LP and the "Greater Then God" EP.
  11:36am
fred von helsing:

"7SD" ?
  11:36am
fred:

@carm: they're on the way. I'd have said "they're coming" but with Ken's show yesterday it might give the wrong impression
  11:38am
seang:

the Cain Train is a comin
  11:38am
Berg:

@fred so it's no longer "national hump day" then ;)
  11:39am
doca:

@fred: i'm sorry, i went to lunch. but i guess "latin americans" still can joke about themselves, although there's a growing resentiment. i just hope there will never be any race-based prejudice like those who plague europe and other places.
and btw, i was watching tour de france now. beautiful landscapes.
  11:41am
fred:

@FVH: There's a Seven Second Delay (aka 7SD) T-Shirt out there. If either Ken or Andy sees you wearing it, they have to pay you $2
  11:48am
Lizzie:

awesome show, faye!
  11:48am
fred:

@doca: Unfortunately, I think you already have the seeds of that plague (sorry for the mixed metaphor). I saw that in France decades ago, you know what it led to. It would be devastating for Brazil, and I hope you've had enough exposure to diversity to know better, but I won't misunderestimate stupidity again.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:49am
Faye:

thanks Lizzie! :)
  11:49am

tuning late, but I'm going to have to dig this show up later. lotsa interesting stuff here

Loved the show Faye - thanks! Gotta run...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:50am

thanks too much coffee & thank you Van!

Cheri said it right at the start and it's been true throughout the show, a dreamy feel.

Great show Faye.
  11:51am
doca:

@fred: yeah, i just hope so, although brazil isn't the most egalitarian place right now. but now i have to go, thanks for the conversation, until next week.
@faye: thanks for the show!
  11:56am

Lovely show. I got snowed out in the last 24 hours. Yesterday I heard Donna play Michael Snow and then Bryce did after this Hello Children archive. What does this mean? I don't s'now?
