Options March 12, 2012: Joel Eaton: EEG - for Radio Boredcast

Joel Eaton is a researcher at the Interdisciplinary Centre of Computer Music Research, Plymouth. His project, NeuroSymphonics with Prof. Eduardo Miranda, is the development of a Brain-Computer Music Interface (BCMI) that allows a user to control, compose and perform music in real-time using only their brain waves.

Initial research investigated the potential such a system could have on users with limited physical abilities, but Joel has been primarily investigating more creative possibilities that such technology can offer to musicians.

In this talk Joel introduces the system and the technique used to read brain wave information and how these are used in his composition 'The Warren'. Videos of performances and more information can be seen at www.neurosymphonics.com
